      What is TMC doing right now? Handing over revolvers to local goons and making the state more prone to poverty. Look at the recruitment to State PSCs and the recruitment of teachers you will get the result in your hand. The leaders are not letting the administrative to functioning according to the norms. They are Orang Utangs in clothes.

    I have not been a great fan of Arundhati Roy. But if you listen carefully to what she says in this conversation, she is right. Democracy works mostly in urban areas and that too for the well connected in India. For tribals in states like Chatthisgarh, Jharkand, they do not care about democracy as living is an ordeal for them. When the benefits and produce of the their land are supposed to go to them according to law, state governments collaborate with industrialists and mine owners and the tribals are left with nothing. What do you do in that scenario? A good example is how the BJP government has changed and influenced every democratic institution in India in the past two years. Our concept of free media is a farce. And forget the BJP, even the congress would have done it if in power. It is important to realise this and ask questions and think logically instead of running after fallacies like nationalism and historical legacy which do not contribute in any way if you do not have two square meals.

Also, if you reply to me, i don't want to hear about hoe hard your life is, how you've struggled etc. Like I said, this isn't about one person. Arundhati Roy can't be more irrational. She brands Indian Army as Hindu Upper Cast force victimizing the minorities and tribals. It's a fact that Indian Army has a large section which comes from tribals(from Jharkhand, Terai region, Telangana) and religious minority as Sikhs. Her distortion of facts are reaching astounding heights!

    • @divyendunarayan9322
      @divyendunarayan9322 Před 10 lety +10

      Well Amith, the discussion in this section is about 10 min clip and I would appreciate if you send me the link to the complete video. However it makes more sense to base the discussion on the answers she gave and not on prequel or sequel. Quoting her exact words "an upper caste stake", which brings to two conclusions "an upper caste stake" in deployment of army(which you said) or "upper caste stake" in terms of numerical strength(which I concluded). I know this gives you all the more reasons to pester me to read her essays which I doubt I would, don't you think somewhere that criticizing our Government is not the way forward? Certainly we are not the children born in utopia and our leaders have not been the enlightened ones, yet it is more important to give away our cynicism and skepticism and look at the systematic problems that have happened because of mismanagement and not because of some nefarious motives. Won't you urge Arundhati to come over the negativity and apprehension and play a more decisive than divisive stand for betterment of millions of underprivileged people who come from all castes, communities and regions of India.

    • @divyendunarayan9322
      @divyendunarayan9322 Před 10 lety +6

      My bad! I find that mentioning "upper caste" is certainly divisive. I find mentioning "Hindu" is divisive. As I mentioned before, the problems she has mentioned are not because of "upper caste" or "Hindu" but systematic mismanagement of resources by our leaders who have happened to be from all religions and social strata. I don't know if her mention of "upper caste", "Hindu" has a broader interpretation, but her crucifying "upper caste", "Hindu" is divisive.

      There was verna system in india , it is true that it was manipulated later but these were fault line the big gaps came during foreign rule . They wanted to break and convert india . There were always movements from with in the society and amazing personalities like swami dayanand saraswati , what a great influence he is and founder of arya samaj .The change came from within and he was never a preacher of hate but wanted to remove wrong practice. The teachings of arya samaj are great force to remove caste system . It would have been great work had she contributed to it spreading the message . but being a christian she did not . It is also important to study history of christianity , its realities( it is now believed that jesus was a fictional character, and many stories were planted across the world) . Vedic knowledge is the knowledge that has influenced many civilizations in the past and were following vedic culture . Spritual knowledge , yoga traditions . People should know what is going on and should realise how spiritual knowledge and traditions in hinduism( images of gods) is related to yoga .( chakras and all) .

    • @Nooffence8
      @Nooffence8 Před 9 lety +9

      Narayan, Arundhati is an intellectual who has put forth the unfair grip of the high caste hindus over the national resources. The sections of army-men those come from tribals are primarily low level sepoys and they work under commands that originate from the very senoir officers who are again high caste hindus. Moreover, the role of these tribal or other soldiers of army, is very mechanical, just to carry out orders, no room for personal decisions.

For today, with BJP in power and it's working and it's romantic relationships with the corporates, like the Ambanis is so so evident!
    Let me break it down to you in very simple manner how *"HINDU CORPORATE STATE"* is a real thing and bigger than ever:
    1. HINDU -- Because BJP is in power right now and whose prime mandate for elections is only and only Hindi Rashtra and Ram Mandir. And to not overlook that it's the child of RSS, which, if you'd only know, is as pro-Hindu as it can get!
    2. CORPORATE -- Because if you can't simply understand the romantic relationships and the favorism that the current government has with the big Corporate boys such as Ambanis, then I don't know what will make you understand this!
    These corporate fellows will always be major part of Indian politics (which is not very surprising but very much normal to me) just like it happens all over the world. From where does the parties get money when they are not in power?

    She is a good role model for those who sit and do nothing , but moaning about the system, while enjoying the good benefits the same system provides.She is a good role model for those who don't take responsibilities to change the system in a manner in which they want to change , but sitting and discussing endlessly about how bad it is. All I can see is her sweet voice and good english with void meaning. She is not providing any real solution because giving solution to a problem is more difficult than raising a problem.
    She blames democracy in India and then she says China is more worse. Corporate power is not just in India, but it is also in the west (yes she admitted it) . We can easily see how corporate giants swept away the business of millions Americans and Europeans. Do she propose a model like communist group dictator China? NO. Or like Arab or North Korean dictator family rules? NO. Those are all worst. Basically her IDEAL world is not possible in earth, as nature itself follows Pareto rule.
    Tatas are not Hindus by the way, they are Zoroastrians, a persecuted religion in the middle east Islamic countries. I know she will not mention this, because if she did, then she will lose a large fan base.

      No. No. No. No killing at all. I think something went wrong in the puberty of males where their thinking gets tangled and twisted. We must not use force as a means of control. The mere idea of controlling someone other than self is an aberration of humanity. Yes you are correct about the West it is almost totally screwed. A very small crack of light can be seen however. I believe it will be that we will defang male rule and be guided by women for the next ten years, till the earth is cleaned up, till happiness sings in the hearts of all and till we construct a method through the use of the internet where everyone can represent themselves on any issue and no longer will a head of state be able to thrash the population with their puerile whims. This is called a womens' council and it is being developed now and it is beautiful. Because we all are beautiful and we should only accept that which touches our heart in a beautiful way. Imagine living in such an atmosphere!

      +Noble Intellect Ok let's look at that. It infers that women are responsible for mens actions which is drivel. We're all responsible for our own actions. Those who give the orders are not the culpable ones, it is those who carry out the deed. There can be no dodging that. We have to, as individuals, carry the responsibility of what deeds we perform and what we support with our money or our labors. How can it be any other way and make sense? We cannot blame another's rule-making on our carrying out those rules or orders. Personal responsibility means also that we have power and can change things. But if we feel we are the victim of someone else's pressure, then we fail to grow up and we remain "rudimentary".

    Wrong. For public companies, if you exclude the "sick" companies that the Indian government routinely bought off the rich prior to 1991, public companies were only 1-2 percent less profitable per-capital employed than their private counterparts, and this was in the 80s when much of the permit-raj restrictions had been removed.

However, its a bit simplistic to say that it is a totalitarian Hindu state because thankfully at the moment its not. However, there is that risk with certain parties that they will try to impose their narrow religious conception on the diverse population and that might ultimately lead to greater violence and fragmentation of Indian society.

People in India have this inveterate habit of treating every other person with a decent vocabulary as a public intellectual. I did accept her criticism if she had not used aberrations in society to pass sweeping generalisations about the whole country. She exclaims that India is a corporate upper caste construct....how fashionable !! Since the dawn of the country in 1947 until its rebirth in 1991, India was a borderline communist state which had made it a policy to exclude private and individual enterprise. People like her bask in dividends of economic growth and are equally disingenuous while criticising the same.

    I loved the conversation, but the title of this Post ie. RADICAL CONVERSATION is too extreme in todays world. Would you please change it to something softer ie. KILLING TRUTH/SWANSONG OF INDIAN DEMOCRACY etc.

    Quite subjective analysis. The only fact she has, is 'when you see'.
    Actually this is the only way see can sell her books, through manipulation.

    Couple of points are right like long time neglect of interior/ remote areas, but since she & her supporters implicitly justify violence by these people in return, their cause & means lose respectability. She should know Indian media is more controlled by Left than Hindu-Right or others quite evident in any case of rape or murder where victim happens to be Dalit splashed as deliberate case of Dalit-oppression. Any anti-majoritarian disinformation campaigning leftist & atheist is proclaimed as a "rationalist". Beef-ban is used as an opportunity by fanboys to provoke insult & ridicule vegetarians (who are mostly Jains & upper-Hindus). Hateful people much less for secretly against India here but for genocidal-level venomous hatred against certain religion, castes & groups are attempted to be promoted as national martyrs/ heroes (just for that). And India is comparatively newly freed, huge developing nation with very big population, there's bound to be a lot of problems, confusion, complaints & mess before it climbs its way to peace & prosperity. The way you promote & want disintegration of it in name of freedom for every single thing it can only get fragmented into a catastrophic civil war before some kind of Armageddon which is what you want.

      @Electroweak Epoch so you want a civil war in India? You'd rather enjoy watching millions dying only for your belief that Brahmins & rajputs are ruling the country (which they are not, many at top including President & PM are from other castes). See it's people like you who are the biggest & more direct threat right now, because you propound your beliefs as facts and support violence & killings and targetting whole communities in order to achieve your objective, which is total control.
