A bond for the planet: 10 years of EIB's Climate Awareness Bonds

Back in 2007 the European Union launched its plan to fight climate change. At the EU bank, we needed an idea to mobilise the force of capital markets for a good end: raise money for green projects. This is how the world's first Green Bonds, which we called Climate Awareness Bonds, were born. "What Green Bonds bring to the market is transparency," says Philippe Zaouati, CEO of Mirova Responsible Investment in this video.
