Izzo is so in-tune with people, life, basketball and he is spot on the way he talks through this situation. People are so quick to judge. None of us really know what happened. Tempers flared and as much as I’m not a UofM fan and don’t agree with any physical altercation, let’s let the league research this out, talk to both coaches and come to some resolution.

With Juwan Howard's past incidents, this last one has proven one thing: just because you can play the game well (and he was obviously an outstanding player) doesn't mean that you can coach it well. Howard has exhibited over the past couple of years that he lacks the maturity and self control necessary to be a leader and mentor to young men. He's just not cut out for coaching at the college level and the sooner Michigan realizes this and cuts him loose, the better. He's a liability for the team, the school, the conference and the sport. I don't wish him any ill will; I hope he gets some help with his anger issues so it doesn't negatively affect the rest of his life.

Never had a reason before this to think Howard was a thug. Have not met him, but I have heard that those who knew him while a student believed he was a decent guy, and that was the only one of the Fab Five they had good things to say about.
However, Howard thinking Greg Gard was a threat to him, that is ridiculous. Howard was out of control and wrong. If he owns that, I might let him stay. Otherwise, I would fire him. There are limits to conduct. When you broach them, admit it. Howard made excuses yesterday. No one else was swinging or threatened violence. His excuses indicated he was not learning anything or admitting fault. And, he should have a short time to do it, about out now, or he should be fired.

And Krabbenhoft has his hands down, at least below his shoulders, with a couple people between them.
The rest of the season is not enough of a suspension. Moreover, I have not heard Howard own what he did, and admit he was wrong. His tantrum has cost his team, risked players being injured, and had two tossed from the next game. How does he coach and tell his players to keep their cool and heads in a game, when he cannot keep his?

@@bwillis7746 Gard's actions were an attempt to get Howard's attention and shake his hand, maybe explain his thinking, but those actions show no aggression. Howard is a foot taller, outweighs Gard by a bunch, and is so athletic to have had a long NBA career. Does Gard look like he is ready to take him on? Not from what I see.
Howard grabbing his shirt, that is aggressive. But, even if you want to use Gard as an excuse, he was nowhere close to Howard when Howard swings at Krabbenhoft. Gard could not have hit Howard at that time with a ten foot pole, and Krabbenhoft is in not position to do so either. If you are going to use force to "defend" yourself, the threat must be imminent. Neither Gard nor Krabbenhoft was at the moment Howard swung an imminent threat. And, any response must be reasonable. Gard's playing patty cake is no reason for a shirt grab nevertheless a swing. If Howard was really trying to defend himself, a simple push away of Gard's arm was a suitable response.
If I were a coach in the NCAA, my simple solution would be to never shake or try to shake Howard's hand. Until Howard owned and apologized for his actions, I would not let him coach.
