Hey PD, this is a continuation of Nostalgic Night, the same people worked on this and that past comeback, hence the similar narrative.
VICTON in a way has been forming a narrative and storyline, where their future comebacks will provide alot of content to their past comebacks. We just have to wait and see what their big story line will be in the end. All we have now are glimpses.
In Nostalgic Night they looked back on their friend 'dying' and they reminisce and in Stupid O'Clock they also have this concept of 'someone missing' and wanting to bring back time. They only have this storyline when Seungwoo isn't participating in their comebacks. He's like the 'missing' friend / 'dead friend'. It is quite fitting that they made a storyline based around their leader / member not being with them. It's quite smart actually.
A lot of their title tracks have to do with the theme of 'time'
    - Chronograph ( I'm not to sure right now about this title tracks relevance as I didn't study this MV and song long enough. sorry)
    - Time of Sorrow (Loosing someone)
    - Nostalgic Night (Reminiscing on the loss)
    - Stupid O'Clock (Mistakes being made)
    - Howling (Calling out for their 'pack' but seungwoo dies (Dropping of him I the end of the MV)
    - MayDay (They seeking for help to try save seungwoo - He died)
Thank you for the reaction. VICTON holds a special place in my heart and I'm glad to have a reaction channel like yours, who has been on the VICTON music train with me since their early days. Such a warm feeling in my heart to have someone else enjoy them and their music.

This year, Victon is doing a Time Trilogy. They said in their showcase that Stupid O'clock could've had another title related to "dreams" but they wanted to keep the time aspect in it, hence the name
As for the story, I definitely wish it'd look clearer so I could notice the details better. Right now one of the theories that seem likely is that this video is related directly to Nostalgic Night (similar sets and everyone but Byungchan dies). There were 2 mv teasers, too. Both had shots that didn't appear in this music video. One of them includes a scene from Chronograph where Byungchan is surrounded by planets (possible Weeekly reference but that's still speculation) where he reaches out for a chronograph clock. Another scene in the teasers is right after the end of this one where Byungchan throws the clock in his hand over the fence. Since the album is titled Chaos, the idea Alice has is that the boys made choices with time travel that lead to Chaos
I genuinely enjoyed the idea of this video, the way it was filmed. Truly wish it'd been longer, though, because yeah, it is super vague. I do think that makes it more fun to watch on its own, though. Btw, all of them appear at the museum at different points but only Subin and Sejun appear in a frame together. Also someone shot Chan but Chan had shot someone else too. Hopefully the 3rd installment of this trilogy will bring in more information.
Thank you so much for this reaction! You're always so informative on filming and I was looking forward to that specifically on this video. Thank you

The planets/spheres are present in some other videos, I think it was What I Said, Mayday, and a reference in Howling. I believe that’s a reference to “New World” and the time theme or time travel.
Chronograph is pt 1 in the time trilogy, Stupid O’clock is part 2. In Chronograph Byungchan is seated with the other members as they get scanned, then everyone disappears but him. (On that note, in Time of Sorrow he was the only person in the present while the other members were in flashbacks - not sure if related). Same in nostalgic night, the members appeared as in flashbacks and disappear, but Byungchan is in present time. In Stupid O’clock he’s again in a different time, or present time, as he’s the only one that appears in the day. In Howling his choreo controls the other members. In What I Said he observes the other members. In Flip A Coin he has a center choreo of flipping a coin. In Mayday he is in the center of the flashlights. He seems to have a particular role or theme in MVs of being in control, if that’s the right word? I just can’t tell which side he’s on.

This theory and story arc is still kind of unclear as they're still I the building stages... it is very very fascinating to hear your takes on it!!! it does open a lot of good questions and story arcs. Here is what I have gathered and how I interpreted things so far! I may be reaching but it could also help formulate something!!:

@@wiktorrogala4975 Wow. I didn't make that connection with Seungwoo. That's a really clever concept. That makes sense in Howling the pomegranate(I think?) symbolizes a heart, but that made me wonder what the others' items symbolized if anything. Another user and I were discussing this time theory on the official MV for stupid o'clock, it's hella buried but it's pages long. They mentioned the butterly on Subin's face in Stupid O'clock performances and I thought butterfly effect + chaos theory? Could be something, could be nothing, as I always say lol.

I thought the title 'Stupid O'Clock' was related to the lyrics. They basically talk about a fun/passionate/sexy/whatever night with someone, that is so intriguing that they can't run away from them. And you know...if it's a wild night, you could call it 'stupid o'clock' with a wink, I guess.

  • @moliasasazom
    @moliasasazom Před 2 lety +6

Thank you, It's always nice to see you paying attention in any details when reacted to every victon comebacks PD Nim 😊
This MV gave us an unfinished feeling, but as far as I know from the other Alices, the way it's called stupid o'clock is because they are in the time trilogy and probably messed up in their timeline, this MV also referred to their Nostalgic Night MV. There's also kind of a multiverse when they are giving a lil' flashback of what already happened to them.
To be specifics the scene where Byungchan seeing that the neckless were stolen by other members and seeing a light from above, if it's get paused there's a siluette of Byungchan himself in this universe become part of this plan (but which part he's incharged of in this universe, still unknown). Also meanwhile everyone at the rooms are running out the building bcs of the chaos that victon makes, Byungchan is spotting in different direction (which is explained why he's not seen on the same room with other members). He's coming where the chaos was already happened. The clue is Byungchan is the one of who always being aware of the timeline and carrying around or get in touch with the clocks in almost every victon MV. CMIIW.
There's another one, on their MV Prologue there are some scenes that didn't appeared on this MV, so I am assuming that the plot is mixed up from the past and the present. I think the whole story will be more cleary in their next comeback, since they gaves us a hint on the back of album the title their next album (in chronograph and chaos).
P.s. at first I didn't realize what makes this MV a bit confusing but now I know why, since it's pretty dark, trust me so many of us keep replayed the video even after streaming so many times😆 maybe it's their technique marketing too lol but lowkey hoping they will give an extend of this MV story and thos songs really stand out their vocal, it's good tho

  • @ReginaAretha
    @ReginaAretha Před 2 lety +17

I LOVE THIS MV SO MUCH along with nostalgic night. This MV is probably my most favorite MV from victon.
I love how there's a story line for me to keep my attention to the MV itself instead of just random dancing and beauty face shots. I'm kinda getting tired of those shots like yeah I already know everybody in kpop is pretty. Story-wise, I'm a little confused at the end. I still can't figure out why they have to run away. The heist was a success no? what are they running from?
But I do agree that they could have blurred everything out the MV too much. I really thought my internet was bad and I was on 480p but I was actually at 1080p.

  • @bytheboxcar
    @bytheboxcar Před 2 lety +5

The lyrics seemingly make subtle (?) references to love (making… 👀) and staying up until stupid o'clock (actual phrase) after losing track of time and finding themselves awake at all hours, hence 'Stupid O'clock' being the song's title.
This is only the second installment in VICTON's "Time Trilogy" which is probably the reason why they leave the story open-ended.
Overall, the music video is giving noir vibes and this particular storyline is giving K-pop 'Fight Club' meets Danny Ocean. 'Lila & Eve' is a movie that comes to mind as well.
The narrative that surrounds Byungchan's "character" in VICTON's universe is really interesting. Maybe these are episodes of psychosis he's experiencing… What if his friends are only living in his imagination? Maybe his friends were never real, who knows…

From the first moment I watched this MV I thought "Ooh PD won't appreciate how dark, grainy & shaky this MV is 😬". As much as it is cinematic, I found it a bit too much for an MV as well. I jokingly said to my friend that it is so that we don't see their faces clearly & thus don't die from how good they look 😆
But it's also part of the Time Trilogy they're doing this year which is why the story is quite incomplete. The theme for the song is sleep/dream at 'Stupid O'Clock' (very late/early hours of the night) so that may explain why the visuals are so blurry & disorientated, just like dreams are.
Song-wise tho, I LOVE IT. Seungsik's parts are to die for ❤️❤️❤️

VICTON explain on their interview that they choose Stupid O'clock is because the song is about confusing between dream and reality. Is like night becoming a day where dreams felt like reality and day just pass and felt like a dream or perhaps it hoping to be like that..
For the open ending it's because this album the 2nd part of the Trilogy album they gonna make this year, so I guess we gonna found a conclusion on the 3rd album.
As for the song, they want to do the sexy and sensual song. From watching the video we can really felt the impact, but if you watch the performance on stage and performance video then the impact would be much different.

The way that I interpreted this MV (going in completely blind and not having context from other comebacks) is that the beginning/end of the MV is like the "present" and the middle portion is the "past." So in the beginning/end we're seeing the result of them stealing the necklace and the middle is just showing them working together to steal the necklace. I would say the shot in the first scene where we get a close-up of the clock shows the "time" at which they stole the necklace. I also think they've been cursed because they stole that necklace and so every time it's "stupid o'clock" they experience something bad...Of course this could be completely wrong but that's how I interpreted it after watching it a few times 😅 I really love the song and the dark themes of it A LOT! Thanks for another banger VICTON!!

Love the mv's vibe and mood it gives. I think that's why they didn't put in a lot of beauty shots. I'm fine with that though, I don't think close up scenes were that important, and i guess it elevates the mood(?) of this mv. I don't really see this type of mv from kpop though. There were some narrative scenes that just feels iffy imo. I don't remember anything really specific from the mv, I kinda liked the choreo scene with the light behind them though. As for the song, man I am sucker for antidrop and this delivered. It's such a sinister sounding track yet it also doesn't feel overwhelmingly heavy. that bit in the first half of the chorus is also my jam and i'm pretty sure those were vocoded vocals and I love it alot

This song is the continuation of Trilogy.
I think it's starts at TOS. I'm not very smart Alice haha 😂

“Stupid O’Clock” was a reference to the time of night, slang like “dumb late.”
Hurts to admit the blur/darkness was a little frustrating at times lol. Didn’t notice the Chronograph painting till u mentioned it. I want to respect the uniqueness, but Victon isn’t huge yet we gotta appeal to the masses! The heist scene is the coolest but wanted more. Could’ve gone all in with the movie theme and cut the choreo for some narrative.
I hate sounding negative bc I do like it. Just small gripes that this doesn’t feel fully realized.

My impression of the song itself is that you can't plan for a certain timeline, and I think stupid o'clock refers to the exact time you think something is going to happen, but then it doesn't. I think it also might literally refer to midnight, when one day changes into the next and everything can turn upside down (literally in one of the scenes, and shown in the upside down car Sejun is standing on). In the video, I thought that this is portrayed by a supposedly well-planned heist (Sejun and Seungsik are in the art gallery place, Sejun passing off the key thing and Seungsik keeping watch from the balcony), but it all goes to hell, possibly because Hanse kind of goes nuts and causes chaos. It seems to me that they didn't get the necklace after all, that someone else did (or maybe they did but that was actually a bad thing in the grand scheme of things), and they end up running from the cops or whoever, but they almost seem to be enjoying the thrill of things not turning out how they expected. I'm not sure what's going on with Byungchan, but maybe he is watching the plan fail and that's why he's so frustrated, because he was the one who was focused on the timing--looking at the man's watch at the beginning and holding the pocket watch at the end. Also I think he was seeing the sun rise and was upset that the chance to accomplish the heist (or possibly prevent it from happening, if it leads to the guys' death in Nostalgic Night) had passed. It does seem to be related to Nostalgic Night (thanks to other Alice for pointing this out!), which explains Byungchan's desperation as it seems to be a life or death situation that hinged on the success of the heist (not sure if the guys were supposed to get the necklace or if Byungchan was, or if the theft of the necklace in itself is actually a failure of Byungchan's plan). Anyway I love the video and always see something new when I watch it, and I think the song, lyrics and instrumental/production, portrays the fact that you can't always control what you want (desire can be instinctual, not logical--like the desire to steal the necklace, even if it was a bad choice), and you certainly can't control if or when you get it. So any time that you plan to get what you want or conversely, resist your instincts, is Stupid O'clock 🙂

I had the same problem with the blurriness of the video, it's too much and it makes the experience worse, but the song, man this song is one of the best of year, it's just too good

Conclusion: this video was way too short, I can't live without Seungshik's divine high notes, Hanse's sheer existence gives me the willpower to get out of bed each day and I never thought I'd ever say this but Hanse's joker-grin is my new kink 🥲
I also cannot believe that these boys have been around since 2016 and have only released one full length studio album 😶‍🌫️

I really enjoyed the mv and song but I think it's not an mv that would attract attention from non-fans cause it's confusing, and to me the song is not an ordinary sounding title track, plus it doesn't show off their visuals enough (like we don't really see Sejun well)
I really like that album, so it would be disappointing if it doesn't get attention

    18:21 I get you...
Even watching it thousand times I still can get the storyline. 😅😅
All I can get that the 5 of Victon, Seungsik, Chan, Sejun, Subin and Hanse is trying to steal the Necklace. The question is do they work together or they on their own?
Meanwhile as for Byungchan I'm still confuse about is he a police that came to the scene after the necklace got stolen or he's the one who also part of the gang that tried to steal but still contemplating, until the he finally decided to steal it too but ends up too late because the other already stealing it.
    There's a questions again...
Who is finally succeed on stealing the necklace.
    Really confusing... 😅

This mv/song/cb is like a continuation of a part series you can't figure out the entire story if you start in the middle where there's a cliff hanger at the end adding on I love your content but for me this one specifically wasn't really it and I honestly expected way more from this video but thank you

The song is really really good but the first time i heard it i couldn't remember any of it because i was too focused on trying to see what was going on; the blurry filter on top of how dark it was genuinely gave me a headache, so i couldn't enjoy the song until i heard it without watching the mv; kinda ruined the experience for me.
