    Variance is sigma square ( σ2 ) and SD is just sigma (σ)

    Incidence - Is it total population or only population at risk,sir ?

      Ideally, it is total population.. but in this course they mention two types of incidence. Attack rate and incidence density are used in this course. The denominators are population at risk and person years of follow-up respectively. My crude advice is, look at problem, if the question provide data for population at risk, such as vaccinated, recovered, then go with population at risk. Otherwise population can be taken as denominator..
