    the horn plays in C major and the piccolo plays in E major, it's an example of politonality, which recall organ's registers.

    @tucaskamofo It's what Ravel wrote!

    Well, Anima Eterna is a period instrument orchestra, they usually play without vibrato... now, why they decided to play this piece SO far from their intended repertoire (baroque and classical) and ancient instruments (not present here) is out of me, really.
    Perhaps an experiment? Not a bad one, though. Crispy clear. We need to read more about what was their pursuit.

      They actually use strictly period instruments here; it would be absurd (and impossible) to use baroque traversos where other instruments were in use already when Ravel composed this. See the bassons, see many of the wind instruments, and experience the wonderful, crispy mixture of textures and sounds. Absolutely ravishing!

    This is SO boring. Dull plodding playing with absolutely no sense of cumulative momentum. Heavy bar line ridden phrasing and why aren't the strings using vibrato? 1928!!!!

      Heavy orchestral vibrato (one of the worst musical inventions) was only adopted well after the 30's. This is a super reading of this masterpiece, one that restores all its colours, nuances and sense of discovery and surprise. Poor you that cannot appreciate it...
