Bob Bondurant Dies at 88

- 2021 has been a tough year for legendary racers. Bobby Unser Jr, Sabine Schmitz and Bob Bodurant all took the final checkered flag this year.
I was a huge fan of Sabine and I actually knew Bob personally.

I went to Bondurant in 2010 when I max out local training in BC Canada. I don't know much about it before or after that period except my buddy been to Bondurant during Mustang vehicle period, told me that I should go there. I took all their courses and spent 3 weeks there with their corvettes and Formula Mazda. They gave me an excellent bundle price on all Grandprix, advance, and advance formulas. I gain a lot more speed for sure and the instructors were nice and Saw Bondurant and his wife at the spot greeting everyone including me face to face. and needless to say after 5 years after training I couldn't help but buy a used Z06 C6. My dollar was well spent. both the Bondurant school and corvette. RIP
Sabine was a great lady. I got to eat lunch next to her after doing my weekend laps on the Nürburgring one day. Down to earth woman.

I actually own mustang #2 bounderant 95 mustang GT. So cool to own a piece of racing history from him.
Had the chance come up in 98 to attend his school, while living in Chandler. Enjoyed every minute of it. Just an all around great man, who nor only loved what he did, but loved passing his knowledge on to others.
Thank you Mr Bondurant, and thank you Craig for letting us know about his passing.
He trained my father who went on to be a mutltiple series champion in many disciplines (as well as being Alex Yoong's team mate in tin tops).
RIP Bob, wish I could have met you.

my dad took me to az to see family after i graduated and he surprised me with taking my to the school...so cool to meet the legend and learn his lessons
The Xbox video game, Forza Horizon 5, has this livery on that C6 when choosing factory color options. Took me by surprise since it’s uncommon to have livery’s on manufacture color options. Might have to do with a tribute to his death since the developers of the game are well known for their nice Easter eggs.
Just heard about this this past week, sounded like a hell of a gentleman.. Always wanted to attend a Bondurant course here in AZ for years, but never got the chance to.. Radford looks like it's making a name for itself here, good luck on that, and RIP Bob you will be missed!

Had the opportunity to meet with him and sit and chat for a while at the SEMA show years ago. he was very pleasant and down to earth. didnt act like he was some big super star. which is probably why many, many people just walked right by and had no idea who he was. may he RIP

This story kind of reminds me of the film "The Killers" - Lee Marvin, Angie Dickinson & RR. I never got the chance to attend his school but I wish that I had, especially when the program employed stangs and SHOs! May BB rest in peace ✝
My condolences to Bob's family, but the school could use some better people working customer service.
I contacted the Bondurant racing school several months ago with the intention of asking them some questions about racing schools, as I was going to be doing a movie review about a movie that takes place at a racing school and wanted some modern information to compare. I don't think they even read my email (which gave all the details as to why I was contacting them.) because all I got in return was an advertisement for attending the school. I sent them a reply saying that since they did not bother to even read the contents of my email, I would be contacting the Skip Barber racing. They were more helpful.
Sears Point is one of the gnarliest tracks in the world. And one of the most rewarding when you can master it.
