I just recently watched all of Soul Eater after years of it being on my watch list. I've listened to the OST a few times. You absolutely nailed the vibe, damn 🔥🔥🔥
@grabs_you5954 it was kind of an accident. I wanted to release this mix and needed a cool cover art, I already had a bunch of imgs from a Soul Eater art book on my desktop, so I used one. I didn't realize tell later that most of the samples were soul music related, making it a somewhat fitting connection.
well this is really godamndope.❤❤❤ Reminds me of Dilla.. soulfu af,, sample-heavy, boom'n'bappy, -- very commercial / catchy, easy going--- and simultaneously challenging, and ... Im just guessing but---feels like it was made by someone whom Kendrick would refer to in" Section 80,":: a crack baby, an 80baby (or j maybe 90s, idfk lol, m probably totally wrong lol😂) w/ ADHD, the Cuts don't linger. They're like pictures and p painting --- it's the, you can rewind it a 1000 times, OR NOT... But it reveals itself, what it is, and then the moment cuts away. .. and also, I enjoyed a lot of the types of soul and groovin funk ideas ( and some of the subtractive-synthesizer sounds, that are now in old enough and wise enough to know exactly how long they're needed, and even politely leave just a little sooner lol😅) -- the kind of specific musicality tangents and variations and what was clearly put-up as higher value in loopability (I made that word up --but bet you know exactly what I meant Lolol 😂).. idk, jus all these different rabbit holes or ... all the parts of the cutty, surrealist /'vyinyl-futurism' iceberg you explored and have it is the receipt to listen to, here, in mixtape for, it's dope. I enjoyed every second of it... I've recently gone on the same exact types of voyages (for me it started during covid lockdowns and had sooo much time to just make anything musically, and had basically very little expectation that more than one or two friends, and myself, might had almost any in of it, when with little "360° / really unpolished & unmastered-"VR" mixes lol, it v was like it's own beautifully ugly disaster of unbathed funk bump ODs) so with a very "ripped out a page from an old magazine,"-guttery / "wrongness" aesthetic, and also that nobody else is making this kind of music (which turned out to be completely wrong and some definitely were) and I don't know , the fact that it's completely uncleared samples in every direction you look, I just figured it was NOT going to be for everyone... Or almost ANYONE, lol.. I figured I might as well sample what oli like, and made lofi beats and hip hip production techniques and sampled the fuk out of the funk, and from the soul music. So anyway , I'm uumm.. I gues... ...somuchtosay that this mixtape - kinda resonated. Lol. ..kind SUPER HARDCORE resonated :))) A++ Or maybe I'm just super dumb and completely full of shit and I don't have a clue what the hell I'm talking about. with art it music are different generationally-based tendencies to fund interest in different specific types of aesthetics and art forms, and often a very specific set of those chunks the to stand out and become prominent in value, especially to people that are that age and for much different reasons than to the people who made that music who are like 20 or 30 years older.
