something i found while testing: crouching out of a bash keeps your bash momentum whilst remaining actionable. you can then repeat this and chain them together. makes moments like 2:58 just a little bit faster. not sure if anyone else has found this, if nobody has i vote it should be dubbed wavebashing. love this run and love this game, hope i can help ! :)

a similar technique can also be used to break through paper stacks a lot quicker. if you crouch the moment you land (it's tricky timing, a lot of the time it can ground pound instead.), then dash out of that crouch, it can mitigate a lot of the bash cooldown.

@@JandroGrant this definitely seems *interesting*, but after trying it out i think it's slower (and harder) than just spamming bash normally (which i should have been doing - if i come back to run this again i'll be doing that lol). as for breaking papers, i don't think it helps either - you regain your bash as soon as you land regardless of if you crouch or not, and even if i'm wrong i don't think the chance of accidentally groundpounding and having to sit through the spin anim is worth it

sorry i kinda wrote you off - saw your tas snippet on tumblr and it got me interested so i played around with this (and the tas tools) a bit more. wavebashing's definitely faster in a tas setting but seems waaaaay too difficult for a human to do consistently, at least at this point. also, it seems like waiting longer between down presses is actually slightly faster, at least in my very crude testing (i barely understand lunalua lol). not sure what the optimal amount is but it's definitely not the 2 frames between crouching and bashing you mentioned on tumblr. my setup for what *seems* optimal is "trn",{1},"rn",{5},"drn",{1}, on repeat, though obviously things would have to change if you aren't doing it on a flat plane

@@MiiK_ dw i definitely could have specified that i found it out for a tas in the first one. i get how it isn't optimal for speedrunning. as for the optimal wavebash for the tas, i've been testing susan's movement in a custom test world and i definitely think you're on the money with the 1,5,1. if i find anything actually humanly possible tech wise while testing i'll be sure to let you know.

@@JandroGrantsounds good! ill try and share my knowledge for the tas if it's relevant, cuz tas stuff is cool. (and technically youve already shown me something humanly possible, that door entry at the beginning of training without killing the plant guy is actually super free. i assumed it would be crazy difficult but she just. snaps to the door lol)
