Down In The Park is one of the best songs ever written by ANY musician!
Absolutely!!! Especially the LIVE versions.
The creepy progression of the synths, Gary's hypnotic flow, and genuine beautiful moments interlaced with the horror is so bizarre, Love the song.
brilliant song, both musically and lyrically. Gary's production is perfect...
After AFE, this is simply stunning. As fresh today as it was in 1979..
So many different live versions over the years too.
Stunning!!
Foo Fighters in the key of X album was my into to this masterpiece.
In terms of composition, this song is absolutely hypnotic and needs to find it's place as a piece of future film music. For me, the original verson is really hard to beat as I think it was years ahead of its time. Initially not successful upon its rekease, it did not fit into any of the genres around at the time and cannot really be categorised as "pop music" because it is in a genre of its own. It may be doomladen with a futuristic, sci-fi back story, but it also a masterpiece that paved the way for others. Such a shame that Beggar's Banquet did not initially appreciate the real potential of the album "Replicas" but thankfully, when it got to No. 1, they must have realised their grave error in judgment.
Nuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuumaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!
JUST looked up Vanishing Shadows, which is REALLY good, BUT according to CZcams it was released a year ago, so it’s hardly “news”!
This episode was first released in 2022.
My favourite live song from my favourite album, Replicas ... It had the best sleeve cover which seemed to depict Gary's dark side reflected from the window, which I used to have as a screen saver in the mid nineties ... lyrically very creepy and I've always wondered how it would look as a sci fi movie as it has all the ingredients.
