Hello, I would like to correct some information you gave us about Appwrite when you said that "Appwrite uses a NoSql database", I would like to clarify that it does not use a NoSql database but a Sql database which is MariaDB (I think) and that it gives the user a NoSql API, so you have the ease of use of a NoSql API and the power of a SQL database.
Nice info presentation and thanks for summarising it in proper way which many dont do. For me supabase and directus are currently best foss solutions :-)
Directus appears to not be an open source solution because it uses the BSL 1.1 license which is not open source. It appears to formerly be GPL (open source) but alas no longer.
@@surgelaw brother, it is fully open source; don’t be like that-just a minimal amount of effort would have revealed this. Really KNOWING something is a beautiful thing you should lean into, or don’t assert facts simply ask questions
@@newz2000 read the fine print - you can do with it as you please until your company reaches 5m in revenue - I think that's well within the spirit of open source. @@pookiepats that is absolutely not the spirit of open source. Please do a tiny bit of research. You have read the fine print of the BSL but you don't even know the definition of "open source!"
@@newz2000 already did, I know exactly what I’m talking about. You’re pushing up your glasses and pointing to fine print-I’m telling you expecting a polished CMS like Directus to stay operational and high quality being fully open source is ridiculously naive and childish. You’ve likely never managed a business or even a department with that kind of idealistic outlook with no regard for operating cost. You would turn up your nose at a product like this for saying “please pay once you get to $5m in revenue”? Absolutely ridiculous. This kind of decision making is bargain bin material at best. Good luck only building on top of FOSS exclusively, I look forward to your 1.0 release in 25 years.

Bro what... Pocketbase has had a very good Admin UI since day one and has much better export /import and native backup options than any other option you listed. Shame on you. Lmao also has field level permissions, role based and supports custom rules - this was all there before you made this video. Don't listen to this guy he doesn't know what he's talking about.
Pocketbase is 10/10

Appwrite now supports messaging and as a result push notifications as well. I'm still hesitant to use it as they do not support postgres yet though.
Power of SQL but data relations are still in beta 😅

PocketBase❤
Appwrite ❤
Thank you ! Very insightful
Appwrite uses MariaDB which is SQL based.
Yeah but offers noSQL interface and relations are kinda tricky (beta feature) and they state it’s slowing queries
Those tables are insightful
Loving your videos :) thanks a lot for your content
Directus is so polished.
Doesn't Parse have realtime with Live Queries?

thanks ad firebase vs supabase vs nodeja in cost time in speed
Nice!!! =)
Strapi vs Directus
Is pocketbase for me..supabase is not free
supabase can be self hosted, as with pocketbase
duuuuuuuuh
pocket is not stable
No hasura?
Whats this about ....let me look it up
MY PROJECT DOUBTS:
(PHOTO SHARING WEB APPLICATION WITH FACE RECOGNITION FEATURE)
PLANNING IN:
Next JS
TypeScript
A) Which Database is cheaper ?
1) Firebase
2) Supabase
3) MangoDB
4) GraphQL
5) MySql
6) Appwrite
B) Which Storage is cheaper ?
1) AWS S3 Buckets
2) Cloudinary
3) CloudFlare R2
C) Should I need node/express server side coding when I use Next.JS ?
D) Can I deploy my Photo Sharing Next.js application on any Digital Ocean $5 USD/Month cloud ?
In that case can I run self hosted database also in that same cloud like Supabase ?
E) Which authentication would be cheaper or Self hosted ?
1) Firebase
2) Clerk
3) Supabase
4) NextAuth
E: Next Auth makes the most sense for your project, it’s free and open source.
C: You do need node, but no express since Next JS is the server
A4: it’s not a database, it’s a “language” to create APIs
A3 / 5: these are free and open source and are the only databases on the list.
D: Use Cloudflare Pages instead, it’s free forever. I’ve ran Next JS. websites on it before.
A: Cloudflare offers a free forever SQL based database called D1

@@elestio 3:36 for example - your graphic on screen represents Pocketbase as having no AdminUI and no Permissions
