Woodmizer lt15 wide. The good, the bad, and the ugly

  • 31" pine cutting 1x3's and 1×12's. Milling logs this big by yourself isnt easy at all and this one faught me. As you can I had to keep rotating after the first cut because the log stops are to short and didn't catch. Got some nice boards though so the fight was worth it. #woodmizerlt15

    I'm thinking a 2 ton winch on an overhead gantry with a choker strap could save a lot of potential back injuries over having to use a cant hook to flip a large log? Obviously you'd have to have an enclosure such as this one, but as long as you mount the ends of the gantry on the upright poles it should work great. It may take a little longer, but it would save some wear and tear on your back!

    • @tlroughsawn2184
      @tlroughsawn2184  Před 3 lety +2

      The mill is normally outside so when the logs get that big we use my tractor to flip them, plus I've just invested in logrites mega hook canthook. At 78in you get some serious leverage. Thanks for watching.

    As usual your milling is very efficient.
    I noticed that some of your 1X3s were knocked off by the saw blade at the end. A simple fix.... drive a nail into the cant... problem solved.
    Seriously, I do not think that a nail is a good idea; a 1/2" lag bolt would be better.
    Keep up the good work.
