I love the Sonia G Mini Base for cream blush or liquid highlights. I am a teeny tiny human and most brushes are massive for my face, so I love this brush!

  • @touchydafishy
    @touchydafishy Před rokem +7

Lotus Base is better than Jumbo Base and Classic Base for me as it can apply the foundation...thinner? better for cream foundation. And I can use it twice before need to wash it.

I love how you made sure to state that a lot of this is preference and face / feature size (I know I have quite small features so a lot of brushes that are an HG for someone else don’t work as well for me)- I know @bobmindset has compared brush preferences to hair style preferences

Brush reviews and rankings are probably some of my favourite videos to watch and wow, Sofia, no one could put more effort or detail or useful information into a video than you. Thank you! ❤One of the reasons why your brush reviews are so helpful is because you give detailed reasons as to why a particular brush works for you, what your skin type and face shape/size is and what your preferences are. This is crucial for anyone else out there trying to decide what will work for them and where to invest their hard-earned money. Brushes are so, so individual and so many factors come into play when choosing what is right for *you*. This is also why I, and so many people, are such fans of Sonia G's brushes. I love that Sonia says she creates her brushes to fill gaps in her own or our collections. She seems to look at brushes creatively and with an open-mind, offering so many possibilities for different purposes, preferences, face shapes and sizes. Best of all, she puts so, so much effort into giving exhaustive descriptions for each of her brushes, offering details (often on her blog) such as density, measurements, raw materials, weight that I have seen no other creator or brand do. Nothing, nothing is hidden or left unsaid. It's the same level of detail you put into your videos actually!
Just out of interest, I wonder if you have tried the Hinoki Set? Out of all of my brushes, the Hinoki brushes are probably two of my most-used; not a day goes by that I don't reach for them. Not only is the craftsmanship exquisite (those handles with the crane illustrations and beautiful grain! 😍) but they are some of the most versatile, multi-purpose brushes I own. They are quite opposite in many ways (except softness - those saikoho bristles!) with one having a beautiful density and strength for blending and buffing and the other being as soft, light and airy as a bunny's tail, but I love them equally and I find them so surprisingly useful and unique in my collection.

Thank you so much for your feedback and thoughtful comment! I completely agree, the attention to detail of the design really shines through in her brushes. I haven’t tried the Hanoki set but I will take your rec and check it out!!

Ooohhh! I love this so much!!! I wanted to up my fude face brush collection so I made lists for Christmas time after watching your recent Fude Beauty video…and then went ahead and bought them right now! 😬 My heart was in the right place, but my face craved squirrel and fox bristles asap😂 (And now I’m obsessed with them.)
But I adore Sonia G face brushes. I honestly love all the ones I have. I’ve never gotten a whole set, just brushes here and there.
I am waiting patiently for the Fusion Soft Concealer to come back in stock. I like the Sheer Buffer a lot. I have a heavy hand and a light skin tone so most of her wispy brushes that are “sheer” or “soft” become my favorites.
The Fundamental Classic Cheek is on its way to me as I type as well as the Smooth Buffer! I’m so glad you love them! I picked well!
The Soft Cheek is my favorite blush brush of all time. I have 2…and I love the Mini Cheek, too.
I have combo oily skin and I really like the Inochige Pro for setting my face with loose powder. I don’t tend to like huge brushes, but because of the shape you can be very specific with placement. It’s also so soft. I’ve used it for finishing powder, too, but I prefer the soft cheek for that.
I tried to get the Lotus Detail for highlighter but it’s not on Beautylish anymore-even as out of stock! 😢 Most of her Lotus brushes are gone.

It's always interesting to hear different people's preferences! I would rank my Sonia G face brushes similarly to you (the first two I never even bought as they're too large for me), but then the cheek brushes I would rank in the exact opposite order 😂 I love the Soft Buffer (Face Two) for blush, it has perfect density, shape and size for me!

  • @drtle

Thank you so much, Sofia!! I have the Lotus collection so it was nice to see a number of those brushes here. I have the sheer buffer and the base pro (I think that’s what it’s called?) too. I’m at work but I will take a closer look tonight to see what I need to add. It’s really helpful when you describe how you use these and with which kinds of products (ie cream/liquid vs powder). Thank you so so much!!!❤❤❤❤

It’s interesting that you don’t have Sky series brushes to rank. I bought them first because they were advertised for smaller faces. The Sky Worker Fan is the worst I’ve bought from Sonia G (not soft at all). I tend to place powder bronzer with the Niji Pro and buff it out with the Jumbo Bronzer. I also enjoy using the Lotus Base for cream bronzer. Definitely didn’t need the fundamental series. But they are softer than the Sky series worker fan. I look forward to your eye brush break down!

    • @SofiaSeesBeauty

I love a good brush video! I really enjoy my Sonia g face brushes. If I had to chose only one face brush brand, it would be Hakuhodo though I think Sonia G has the edge on eye brushes. Hakuhodo can also be far more expensive. I think Sonia G’s line is so special because she brings very practical and well thought out shapes and bristle mixes to perform everyday tasks. She makes work horse brushes with beautiful handles and does it at a relatively affordable price (for fude). To me the stand outs from Sonia’s line are definitely the Fusion series. I actually am head over heels in love with the lotus fan for foundation. I love how it wraps around all my features. I love it for cream contour as well. The soft cheek is one of my all time favorite blush brushes. It’s pure magic for making even the most pigmented blushes buildable. The Niji pro is perfect for those hard to pick up Charlotte Tilbury face palates and other hard pressed powders. I love the mini cheek, worker fan and detail and designer pro brushes. I love small brushes. I really enjoy the smooth buffer as well because it’s just a little smaller. Thanks for all the hard work you put into these videos!

Oh I’m sorry I missed this! I think the more densely packed dyed goat brushes pick up product really well. For example the Fundamental Fan M or the old sculpt 3 from Sonia G. I also have the J210 from Hakuhodo or S5521GH that really grabs hard pressed stuff. For Synthetic the BK 106 picks up product really well too! These are the ones I grab for when the product is extra tricky to pick up!

Never thought to use the buffer for bronzer, I’ve only used it for finishing powders or if I get heavy handed with my blush. This is my favorite brush of all her brushes I have. I bought the Fusion set and I’m sorry I bought them cause I don’t use cream products, thought I would tried a cream blush but just not for me. I’m trying the classic base today for my foundation. I usually don’t buy sets anymore, I like to buy individual ones. Excellent video, do you have a video for her eye brushes? Have a blessed and Happy Easter.❤
