@5:12 this is the reason the rule has always been that the runner has to stay between the chalk lines on the way to 1B. This new rule caused a near serious injury to the first baseman, on what should have been a routine play.
But also, even with the new rule, the runner cannot have BOTH feet in the grass, according to how I read the rule change. Why was the runner not called OUT here, Manfred??? Go back to the original rule, and enforce it.

Glad the red sox won but this didn't look like a pro game weird errors and some bad umpiring
The runner should of been out at first with obstruction.. He wasn't in the runners box and stuck his elbow out. Bad calls all around.
This is another rule change for 2024, the runner no longer has to stay in the traditional runner's box.
However, the new rule says ONE foot can be on the grass, not BOTH, the way I understood this change, so the umpires should have ruled this runner out.
