Recently, as LeBron marked his milestone 20th All-Star appearance, this debate ignited again. His performance in Indianapolis was modest by his standards. But, it underscored a career of unmatched longevity and consistency.
The numbers, tell a story of their own. LeBron has won four NBA championships. A testament to his unwavering dominance on the biggest stage. Jordan has a flawless 6-0 record in the NBA Finals. It stands as a monument to his unmatched greatness and it sets a standard that seems impossible to beat. But as the dust settles and the debates rage on, a new voice emerges from the ranks of the old guard. Larry Bird, a legend in his own right, begins to tilt the scales in LeBron's favor. Stick around as we unravel why Larry Bird rates LeBron James over Michael Jordan.

Bird never said Lebron was better than Jordan. His comments were acknowledging where he is in his career as being one of the greats and what he could potentially be as the best ever. He won't get to being the GOAT. That whole narrative is a media creation. What Larry Legend is actually saying is to drop the goofy debate and enjoy the game for what it is. Without being the best ever, talent like Lebron doesn't come around often and people should sit back and take it all in.

    • @Unnamed942

Ya, Lebron is obviously not close to Jordan, and even Bird accomplished just as much as Lebron in half the time (in a more competitive era), without having to recruit other superstars to join his teams to win.
Lebron is a great player, but his gigadouche personality where he refers to himself as the King and the GOAT (😂😂😂 not even close Lebron) makes people not respect the guy, even when he is a great player (just not as good as some other all-time greats).
Lebron is the only "all-time great" (other than Durant) who hasn't won a single Championship where he wasn't on a loaded superteam that he created, or in the case of the Bubble Ring, a team where he colluded with his agent to bring a top 5 player to LA to ride to the weakest ring in NBA history.

@@jerryren4076 Bird’s accolades are comparable to Lebron’s (three MVPs, three rings) in a career which spanned less than half as long. Lebron has four rings, with three being on absolutely stacked superteams and one being in the Bubble. So if anything Bird’s accolades are superior, discounting inflated longevity stats which don’t mean much. 😂😂😂
Not to mention Bird was a superior player overall, and he has more of a GOAT case than Lebron ever will.

@@Unnamed942 lmfao, Lebron's teams are nowhere as as stacked as Bird's. Do some research buddy. Bird played with multiple hall of famers in their freaking prime his entire championship runs. And 3 MVPs 3 rings are both less than Lebron's. Not to mention all-defensive selections.

@@jerryren4076 “Do some research.” 😂😂😂😂 You clearly don’t know anything about basketball. Bird’s teams weren’t even half as talented as Lebron’s superteams. The only two HOFers he had in their primes were McHale (during the latter part of the 80’s) and Parish. Lebron could barely win two rings with prime Wade AND prime Bosh, plus a great supporting cast. Bird>Lebron, EASILY.

Thanks for your video. I am one who appreciates all of the greats… each of them unique… and yes, LeBron is definitely one of the all-time greats.
I would have had no bad comment to say, but unfortunately, I believe your video thumbnail is inaccurate… pretty much Click Bait.
I’m afraid this video now just adds another negative towards LeBron fans… it shows the desperation of trying to convince the masses.
I believe if your opinion is for a particular player, then stand on it. It’s your opinion. No need to convince or persuade others to affirm your own self.

So many , I mean sooooi many people have the Micheal Jordan bias. And sometimes you will hear some of the great players that have retired wanting to say Lebron is #1 but they just fall back on what's comfortable and less controversial. Hates off to Larry BIRD for acknowledging and saying out loud what the rest of the world is thinking . LEBRON JAMES IS THE GREATEST TO HAVE EVER PLAYED THE GAME OF BASKETBALL . he can take over and dominate the game from all 5 positions . BONKERS !!! I think lebron could play the Harlem globetrotters 5 on 1 and win by double digit's... I could sit here and type examples of LEBRON JAMES play explaining. But he'll you all have seen the the same games as I have . ITS BLANTENTLY OBIVIOUS !!! And I'll one thing LEBRON JAMES. Does not get the credit that he should for his humbleness and humility...the respect he shows others players and fans alike. He is never ugly when it's not called got . There is a time and place for everything. And that includes sh!t talking also . He never is out of line with the officials always respectful to them . He is always teaching the younger generation what he has learned along the way .. and it's been a long long way . And with our luck he is still on his way . Where he ends up we will have to wait and see . But anybody paying attention has got a good guess at where that might be 👑 KING JAMES !!!

Not ONCE did Bird say Lebron was better than Michael Jordan, nor did he say Lebron was the greatest. Very misleading headline. What he ACTUALLY said was...Enjoy Lebron while he is here. Bird said that LeBron was one of the greatest, IF...he said "IF"....not the grratest ever. Big IF! Latty Bird is very much for pushing the NBA forward and promoting the league. He has been for years. I can not grasp that he can stand to watch James walk off the court and leave his team when they are losing, as James has several times. Bird NEVER was a quitter! And, neither was Jordan.
These videos are put up just to start a debate...or, to push the narrative of LeBron. 😮

Did Michael Jordan ever walk out on his own team on 2 separate occasions in the middle of a game with one of them being in the play-offs? Did Michael Jordan ever whine and complain about not having enough help even towards the end of his career when he was with the Wizards? Did Michael Jordan ever bandage up one of his hands and fake a hand injury after a game? Did Michael Jordan ever have to be carried off the court because of stomach cramps? Did Jordan ever flop around on the court like a fish out of water trying to sell fouls to the refs? Also keep in mind todays NBA players play under rules that make it easier to score. Sorry but I have to respectfully disagree with Mr. Bird.

      @susanstamboulian646 Před 3 měsíci +2

Well said, Chris. As a lifelong Boston Celtics fan, Bird is my favorite player ever, and in my book, the best all around player to ever play. I disagree with him about LeBron though, and don't need Bird to tell me or others not to complain about LeBron, or that I have to sit back and enjoy him. I've never liked LeBron's style of play. I think he has an ugly jump shot, and I don't like the fact the ball has to be in his hands 95% of the time. But the thing I hate most about LeBron, is the same thing I despise about Aaron Rodgers. When they win, they get all the accolades, but when his many teams lose in the playoffs, he's the first one pointing fingers at everybody else, and throwing guys under the bus. And changing teams 3 times is a joke, and his signing with the Los Angeles Lakers, was the most predictable thing that's ever happened in professional sports history. You didn't see guys like Kobe Bryant, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson or Michael Jordan, switching teams, just to build super teams. Can you just imagine Bird signing with the Lakers, just to get another championship, or Jordan signing in LA to play with Shaq and Kobe? NO POSSIBLE WAY. And for the record, I think it won't be long, until we find out that LeBron has been using steroids for many years now. It probably won't hurt his reputation much because he's not a baseball player. If a baseball player is found to be a steroid user, or even strongly suspected, they may as well me mass murderers, but football and basketball players aren't held to the same standards, for whatever reason. Keep up the strong takes, Chris. As Jim Rome would say, "rack him"!

I think it's sad that the same person does multiple NBA channels (and probably others) with conflicting viewpoints just to get hits from whoever they can while pretending they're opinions. Here you flag wave LJ as the goat leading his team to historic victories while another highlights how the Lakers are being propped up by the league and effectively cheating. In most cases it's just repackaging what other creators put out while pretending it's something profound.
To anyone wondering, listen closely to the voice behind Hoop Reports.
