    Nice little eprom eraser! Be aware of the bent over copper tape though, it might connect your pins on the one side of your eprom because the glue used on this tape is electrically conductive! Keep up your great videos. 👍 btw First 😀

    How do you identify what chip manufacturer and id number on the chip? Or does the programmer find it automatically? Thanks

    • @IMSAIGuy
      @IMSAIGuy  Před 4 lety +3

      You need to read the ink on the part and find the part number and manufacture.

    Is there a way to extract what is on an EPROM, and then open it so the data can be modified? I have a 1990s computerized sewing machine, and I would love to be able to modify the menus and stitches, which I believe are all stored on the EPROM.

    • @IMSAIGuy
      @IMSAIGuy  Před 2 lety

      yes and no. This is reverse engineering. Some ROM will allow you to change then but others will crash. if you just want to change PFAFF to IMSAI as text, that would be easy to try. modifying the stiches would be a lot of investigation.

    • @PfaffPfantom

      @@IMSAIGuy Thanks. What do you think about just changing the motor RPM limit? As far as I can tell, the EPROM is setting the limit.

    Dear question, I have an EEPROM memory with a specific number that I could not find in the market. The memory size is 256 KB. Can it be replaced with another? It does not. have to be the same number, but of course the same size, or it must be the same number and the same size. The one is damaged is one time only read memory"TMS27PC256-20NL". The one i will used is UV EPROM"M87C257-20F1". With same size of course i will transfer data with programmer from TM to M8.
    Can do that because idont have TM eprom. I have M8 eprom.

    Hi! I see you're knowledgable about these chips and come asking for advice. I've come into a rather large collection of various Microchips via a bulk liquidation purchase of electronics. I only have about 7 of these types, but I have Dozens of other types and some types hundreds of them.
    To name just some of them(They come in long anti-static sticks of 25/40/50/etc. each) I have MCV's, ADC's, PLD's, MUX's, Counters, Darlington Arrays, Octocouplers, D latch's, RS232's, Quad Amps, OP AMP's, Shift Reg's, , LM2931M-5.0 5v LDO,Flip Flops, Dual OPAMP, Buffer XCVR's. Each of these sticks probably has 20-50 chips in them, all Brand New, and I have sooooooo many other types too. Brands like Texas Instruments, Analog Devices, SPARTAN, Motorola, ATMEL, Pericom, MAXIM Inegrated Products, etc. In addition to these chips, I also have hundreds of what I assume are the "housing units?" that these chips' pins fit into before being mounted on a PCB.
    My question is this, I look online for these chip's selling prices, most go for $2-$5 each, but some I see sell for $10-$25 each, some buyers shelling out $500 for a 20 strip of the same chips I have. However, I've listed several of them for sale on Ebay at well below market rates, and have had 0 luck with selling any of them(I can reply with a link to one of my listings if you're OK with that). I'm unsure if I'm labeling them wrong, or if there's some secret Microchip selling forum that I should join?
    Thanks for reading, and I look forward to reading your or other experienced individual's answers!
    David

      sounds like pretty old stuff. at the flea market I would ask $1 per tube. Once you add shipping eBay is not always a good deal.

    • @IMSAIGuy
      @IMSAIGuy  Před 3 lety

      the housing units are 'sockets' again $1 per tube is what I have paid

    • @IMSAIGuy
      @IMSAIGuy  Před 3 lety

      because shipping is such a problem you might consider selling in lots

      @@IMSAIGuy Hi! Thanks for the prompt reply. Yea I suppose I should sell them in their full strips rather than singles.
      I'm rather hesitant to sell some of the larger tubes of chips for a buck though? For example, I see stuff like Motorola MC68HC811E2FN--2C16J 8-bit 52-Pin Microcontrollers. I see someone paid $1.3K for 180 of them as recently as august of 2020, while others have bought them at $300 for 50. I only have 23 of these, but even listing them for $5 each I haven't had a single sale. Maybe I'd do better if I listed them well below other sellers at 23pc for $50?
      Honestly the most daunting task is reading and typing the endless serial numbers into google, finding out what kind of chip they are, trying to find a current price when most prices listed are circa 2005-2012, and then making a listing for them. I wish there was someplace I could take them where ppl who actually know what they are could sift through them, and ofc I'd sell them at a low cost. I live in the bay area, I suppose I could look for a flea market in silicon valley and hope for the best?
      Thanks again for your response,
      David.
