Hey, happy you like the game! You mentioned in the video that you would watch the cinematics for each expansion. That's a good idea I think, but, at least with Heavensward, only do so after you finished ARR. There is HEAVY spoilers in that one. I would say the trailer is fine to watch after you went through the cutscenes that warns you that "Big events are going to happen, make sure you have the time to watch them" or something like that. Also, that warning is really warranted...
@@Yuyu5001 Thanks for the heads up! And yes, I plan to watch the trailers right before I start each expansion. I'm trying to be really careful about spoilers. I think I'm pretty close to finishing the post-ARR stuff so hopefully will be checking out the Heavensward trailer soon!
@@grayallenufo that's great! I really hope you like it, and the expansion, too. It's amazing. Also, I almost forgot something. There are actually two trailer songs for Heavensward and also for Stormblood, the one accessible from the start menu, and then there is Dragonsong for Heavensward and Revolutions for Stormblood. They are both amazing and worth getting checked out, you should be able to find them here on CZcams when it is time. So long, happy questing and a great time in Eorzea, and until next time! o/
@@Voitan The music has been fantastic so far and I keep hearing from people that it just keeps getting better. Really excited to hear them as they come up!
This is the trailer that played when the servers shut down on the first version of the game. When the game relaunched as A Realm Reborn, it was baked into the story with this cinematic as the bridge between them.
Yeah, I remember hearing about all the problems the original version had so blowing up the whole game to start over is kind of brilliant. It must've been crazy to be playing at the time and just have this movie start playing.
@@grayallenufo there is a CZcams video you can find where this happens, you can witness the shut down of the server and at the end of the video, this begins.
Here is the link. Keep in mind, the movie is something no one saw and it happened in game. So the haunting melody was actually unknown to anyone why it was playing. czcams.com/video/TzLUASTdV5g/video.html around ~20 minutes
Ok so, I'm going to try and not spoil this. Once you reach level 50 and finish the initial MSQ for 2.0 (basically when you reach the first credits screen), you will have the opportunity to do a 8-player raid series (13 instances) and it helps with explaining what happened to Louisoix after he sent the Warriors of Light 5 years into the future. It helps piece things together imo.
Ooh very interesting! I'm really curious about Louisoix since so far there have only been a couple references to him. Definitely seems like a pivotal character in the story. Thanks for the heads up!
Someone probably mentioned this already, but for these trailers that male hyur (the Warrior for the ARR video) represents the player character. One of the interesting bits for every expansion trailer is to see what job(s) he takes to 'represent' that expansion. In some cases, that bit is also shared with other allied or enemy characters who change their job for the expansion.
Okay, yeah, someone mentioned the Hyur was kind of a placeholder but I didn't know the jobs had any significance. I'll have to pay attention to that when I watch the other trailers. Thanks for the tip!
Oh gosh this was my entry drug eight years ago! Instantly addicted heheh, I hope you enjoy your adventures! I look forwards to seeing you experience this thing of wonder ✌️
It wasn't just a trailer that played at the end of vanilla XIV, everyone prior could go to the battle an watch as dalamund fell, when it fell, the cutscene played and marked the end of vanilla, the servers then shut down. Everyone who was present at the battle also received various unique things. One being, when ARR starts, you aren't treated as a new adventurer but a veteran who survived the horrors of the war.
There is a version of this where it shows how bahamut is defeated after he teleports everyone. he goes frickin super saiyan with the energy left over from the sealing attempt summon, and blasts right through bahamut, but disintegrates after from the effort.
If you were a legacy player, the NPCs don't loose their memory, it's a plot device used to integrate new players into the story. The old warriors of light did exist in the new player's universe, but they died in cartenau, you are the "true" warrior of light.
So legacy players will have small differences in dialogue just for being legacy? That's actually really cool attention to detail for Square Enix to do that.
@@grayallenufo Indeed they do. Unique cutscenes and dialogue. Legacy players get a unique cutscene for starting the game, and a unique cutscene for finishing Base ARR. With another unique cutscenes meeting the scions and another with Cid's dialogue on the airship.
Most NPCs have lost their memory of us until a certain point in the story, Minfillia remembers us from the start though. Cid and the leaders of the city states remember us eventually. It’s pretty cool. We also have tattoos on our back, called Legacy Marks. Also our introductory cutscene has us teleport into the wilderness just like in the cinematic, with unique narration, instead of new characters who ride in on cart or ship with the traveling merchant and the twins. They did a lot to make us feel appreciated.
Not sure the game ever fully tells you what caused this event to happen. I know the opening movie with the narration briefly mentions that the empire deliberately caused it, and the "Meteor Project" is mentioned in Cid and/or Gaius's dialogue, but I don't know that it ever truly tells the whole story (since legacy players literally played through it). Basically the empire wanted to pull the Lesser Moon Dalamud out of orbit and drop it on the alliance forces as a weapon of war (Meteor Project). In doing so, they inadvertently unsealed Bahamut which they had no idea was there.
that trailer was the ingame event when they nuked their game before they redid it , it wasn't a trailer per say but an actual event that happened in the game

I guess to be fair to Papalymo, he does pay attention and offer good ideas. Yda, on the other hand, seems to be on her own planet most of the time
