Amazing game
"I am pretty sure Magnus knows his rook and king checkmate " For some reason I found this very funny
Haha
It would be funny if that were the ONE thing Magnus doesn't know.
I had a rook and king endgame awhile back it took me forever to finally checkmate my opponent I also played one where my opponent couldn’t find the checkmate against me with just Rook and King he settled for the draw it came up again yesterday the key was a swhichenzug move made the checkmate happen a lot quicker
@@johnh5259Well Magnus did have a video about the pawn square or the king-pawn square or whatever it’s called, and in the video he spends a few minutes just telling the viewer that he doesn’t know the concept, so anything is possible.
I swear I've seen Nakamura win such an ending with just a king - don't ask me how.
"Le GOAT", sounds so classy. This game has all the Magnus effects: an opening trash that would make a teacher quit, a material deficiency, an early endgame, a material comeback, a switch into having the upper hand, an endgame grind, immediately see the opponent's blunder and taking advantage from it, and a win.
A game without being a pawn behind is not worth to be played
M Carlson
The surgery analogy was one of your funniest. "He's got Daniel on the operating table here. The heart's open." Thank you for cracking me up as I learn more about chess.
"Will you take me to FORKY TOWN? Will you take me to FORKY TOWN!?" Will you take me to FORKY TOWN?"
Great game and commentary, as always. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing ur chess stream with us ystrdy, good to see you take on a WGM
Magnus - Inventor of Sado-Maso chess.
Just a matter of time he plays black leather pieces.
Happy Friday, keep up the great work!
This was a fantastic and typical endgame squeeze from Magnus and a typicall witty analysis. Thanks James.
Magnus reaching Ultra Instinct! 😮
No analysis on blitz games just review. Brilliant play
beautiful, thanks for uploading
Aliens: What opening do we use if Magnus turns up on our planet and challenges us to a game of chess in order to save our species?
Nice video!! Entertaining commentary, epic game. Subscribed
Thanks very much appreciate it!
Congratulations on the increase of subscribers. Hasn’t taken you any time at all. Best regards
At my level, whether it be at chess or at go, I used to play on too, even when I was losing. And I lost my fair share of games all right, but sometimes my opponent blundered as well, handing me an undeserved win, or so people told me: what was the fun winning that way, it was just not gentleman-like.
I always answered that it really doesn’t matter whether you make a bad move at the beginning, the middle or the end of the game, you just have to pay attention or you lose. Or, rubbing it in, I said that a game was never won by resigning.
I've watched like 40 of these Epic Chess videos, so I'm pretty much a grandmaster now.
haha I'm very glad to hear :D
As instantly as most chess players would play what we think is an obvious move, Magnus plays a move that most of us would not notice. He is in a class by himself and it has been a pleasure to watch his career. You are right to highlight his endgame.
It is fun playing what you want and win flawesly, that is what i like about chess the most
Narod had to be considering giving Chess up altogether after this one
someone needs to teach magnus about chess strategy 'rules' :)
i have had success with the Grobs, and failure, but wow, excellent game review, very fast, its amazing the black blunder, thank you
Oh that’s awesome yeah it’s a fun opening haha, and thanks very much really appreciate the kind donation!
Incredible, Naroditski is a blitz beast. Just incredible.
Enjoyed that, goat boy at his best. Thanks Gary.
Intermezzo - tip o’ the hat to you, sir! ☘️ in these divisive times, I think we can all agree this intermezzo is more mellifluous than zwischenzug ☺️👏👍🏽
Haha
What’s a great word mellifluous
Opposite color bishops are never a draw always winning/losing - if theres other pieces on the board
MORE WHISPERING!❤
Total audacity combined with complete geometric 360 awareness. The only way to win from Carlsen is to point a gun at him.
Thx to huge blunder, Monsieur Carlsen made it happen again
Well played by both but mag not only made the comeback but did so after a goofy opening
4:28 Rh4 just wins a pawn. Is this really the actual move order?
Give Magnus an endgame opportunity and he goes for it. This seems to be his MO:
Trash the opening
Regain equilibrium
Liquidate the pieces
Win the endgame
Magnus does enjoy embarrassing those who call his openings terrible. 🤣
Thanks!
Thanks very much very kind of you appreciate it! Glad you enjoyed
How is it so, that Magnus is 2 pawns down and the eval bar is in the middle? In every game when I am two pawns down the eval bar is like: "Mate, why haven't you resigned yet??"
Yeah haha Crazy
Great game, but a blunder unfortunately for Danya. Would be great to see you cover a longer positional masterpiece sometime, maybe something from classical chess. we want mysterious rook moves 😉
the kid got scared of draw
Looking at the evaluation bar, the Grob, and the position that comes from it, isn’t that bad really. Is this one of the AI lessons, that human’s verdicts are sometimes too harsh?
Defo in blitz playable yeah
👍👍👍
@7:02 why not c5 winning b?
( Magnus rook win stronger but why assume opp will blunder)
Good ole hob groblin
😆
this is just like genshin impact
magnus ... the goat of all chess trolls
The 🐐
Can you play and show
some of your own games ❤
A great chess player is also a sadist.
It’s kind of sad that this is what chess has become.
Why did he resign? There's a chance that Magnus' internet connection goes down or something serious happens irl and he will lose. If he put up a struggle, on average, his ratting should be higher a few more points after thousands of games.
That is a fallacy. By resigning a 100% lost position, barring divine intervention, he will have more time to study, grind or even just going for a walk to reset his zen. That should have a positive ELO outcome unlike finishing this game against Magnus. Remember that in most scenarios there will be variables you haven´t adjusted for.
There is also the significant chance of Magnus either never learning to mate with a rook, or forget how to execute this subtle maneuvre.
you're blocked
Devil's advocate here: is it really that great a game if one person makes a one-move tactical blunder under time pressure? I mean of course, Magnus is the better player, but this was just about who blunders first.
I think the real trick of this game was the unusual opening by Magnus
As an exclusive grob player I can say this was great to see, specially without the typical bishop out on move two, and knight g5 at 1:55 sent it down an unfamiliar path to me. You are often at risk of losing the rook with the pawn complications and equalizing in such a simple way into an endgame is not so easy.
Losing the rook to the discovered check from the Bishop was a big blunder should’ve saw that coming I saw it automatically
@@michaelmassaro4375 typically it would be a blunder, but you prepare for it by bringing the bishop out to defend, instead of taking the D pawn with the bishop early as is normal. The problem comes when the queen gets out and gives your massively exposed king trouble, which is why the forced queen trade is brilliant.
I feel like he forced to blunder tho just constantly asking nagging questions
Terrible for mere mortals lol
:D
Back in the day, Magnus would’ve been one of the most feared Generals/ War Strategists to ever live…
LeGoat? on a chess thumbnail? 😭
😂
Hi my friend this is my first time watching your video but i think there is a problem: You make me feel exhausted. I hope you can fix that.
Oh sorry to hear! Genuinely curious if you feel the same watching a few others as well or just this one. This one moved at a VERY fast pace tbf, I'm not usually so quick. This was 83 moves in just over 8.5 minutes
@@epicchess2021 Don´t worry about it man. You have a top chess channel and can´t please everyone. Watch Skywalker get really exhausted if the video was 30 minutes long with 5-10 not played sidelines.
As good as he is Magnus didn't win this, rather Danya blundered away a drawn game with a howler!🥴 Instructive anyway.
Bro ur channel is simply tooooo boriiiing 😑😑. Just MAGNUS, HIKARU, HANS and KRAMNIK. Around these ur channel revolve. Do better bro😅😅
Bro ur channel is like simply tooo boriiiing now 😞😞😞 just MAGNUS, HANS, HIKARU, KRAMNIK 😅😅. Do better bro
Shut up you goof, those players are currently the most relevant and entertaining. You do better
8:30 Are you sure that Magnus knows ♜ and ♚ checkmate? You are giving him so much credit.
Magnus was clearly bluffing, and Danya fell for it and resigned. Had he played on, in 50 moves it would have been a draw.
"Grob" literally means "Grave" in Serbian. So that kinda makes sense like it's "bad" somehow lol
oh cool
