  • Welcome to our full review of the Chilli Surfboards Churro 2 in Twin Tech from Australia's number one wave pool URBNSURF
    We checked out the Churro 2 in Twin Tech in their stock 6'0 which was 6'0 x 19 3/4 x 2 9/16 = 31.7L
    From www.chillisurfboards.com/surf...
    Churro 2 EPS TT
    The Churro got an upgrade! Our new daily driver model, the Churro 2 has next-level small wave performance features that is an essential board to add to your quiver to dominate conditions from 2-foot slop through to 5-foot pumping surf. With a focus on super user-friendly, performance surfing and everyday conditions in mind, James blended all the favourite features of the original board (fast and forgiving) with a few updated tweaks, and we ve arrived with an essential daily driver that will connect all the dots from beach break junk to long point breaks (and everything in between), this board will bring you the stoke!
    The outline has been pulled in slightly at the nose and tail (around the 12 mark, losing the hips & shoulders) from the original Churro and has really given the Churro 2 a smoother, less catchy feel. The wide point is relatively neutral in the centre of the board (providing a massive sweet spot) continuing down into a neat round square tail with enough width to carry you through any slower section that gets thrown your way.
    The rockers very forgiving much like the original. The moderate entry, flattish middle and moderate exit out the tail gives you unlimited down the line speed. Simple single to very slight double concave out the fins bottom contour keeps this board incredibly user friendly in all conditions.
    Through the Project Black R&D stages of this model, we have found a neutral fin template (not too upright & not too raked) provides speed, flow and response that compliments this model. In FCS 2 the Performer template and in FUTURES the F6 template work well, just select your size to fit.
    In the Churro 2 we rode a few fins by Futures Fins, but really liked the R8 Blackstix by Futures!
    From futuresfins.com.au
    Futures Blackstix fins feature a V2 inside foil that generates and maintains speed throughout turns. The precision carbon and fiberglass matrix construction paired with specialized epoxy resin provides a very lightweight fin with incredible response, making your board feel livelier.
    Template Category | Rake (drawn out/drive)
    Construction | Blackstix
    Ride Number | Speed Generating - 8.9
    Size | Large (75kgs+)

    Hi Craig… on the Volume II you used 30 liters. Did you increase the volume of your boards or should the Churro 2 be used with more volume than the Volume II?

    Hey Craig, have loved your reviews from way back... Getting my 6'0 Churro 2 tomorrow ,except going with R6 instead of R8 blackstix. Im 76kg so hopefully it does the trick. Thanks for your work throughout the years!

    Board looks real nice great flow and pivot, would love to see a direct comparison on neutral,upright and rake fins. When I held the rake and neutral blackstix together they were really similar in template

      Hey! Yeah, I'd love to break them all down. Silly me didn't grab the upright template though, so might try grab them and put something together...

    Hi Craig, compliments, some advice churro, churro 2, hotknife or A2 for beach breaks 2/4 feet, intermediate, I would like a short to turn tight and progress, but which also allows me to pass foam without getting too bogged down, which one would you recommend? I looked at your review of the A2 and I really liked it, is it a good board? also to what size would you recommend? I'm 1.91 x 93kg but I don't want to be obsessed with the volume. thank you in advance

    Another great review Craig, I wonder that would you recommend Churro 2 or Hot Knife for 2 to 4ft beach break? Where I surf sometime is quite steep but also is mushy sometime. Thanks!

    • @TheSurfboardGuide
      @TheSurfboardGuide  Před 7 měsíci

      Either really - they both have a lot of lower end capability for a shortboard, but both also perform well when the waves get bigger and better ✌️

      It’s kinda hard to compare as the Vol2 review was like 2-3 years ago…

      Hey! As I mentioned I surfed it in the ocean back home and it went great, very forgiving and easy to surf. Might see i can get another Volume 2 and compare the two. In the ocean.

      Yeah I had a Volume 2 but it was like 3 years ago - not sure if you have seen our review on it? They both seem to be more forgiving shortboards that sit below the A2 and other more high performance shortboards, so would be good to work out the differences between the two...

      @@benjaminclarke7668 Yeah it was a while ago. And I was riding like 29L then and now I'm like 32L. It would be good to come back to it as I loved The Spawn from Chilli, so frothed out on the Volume 2!

    Appreciate the review, as always, great work! How would the churro 2 compare to a monstabox? Chur

    • @TheSurfboardGuide
      @TheSurfboardGuide  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Haven’t ridden a Monstabox in years, but very similar in that forgiving shortboard for everyday waves category. The twin tech is super lively and I found the Churro 2 just super easy to surf and very capable - haven’t ridden a Monstabox in years, but if I was picking between the two I think I’d be going Churro 2.

      @@TheSurfboardGuide and about the feeling? Which one do you prefer e in which conditions?

    • @TheSurfboardGuide
      @TheSurfboardGuide  Před 7 měsíci

      Both similar - they both feel like a good shortboard for less than average waves. I did like how the Churro 2 was able to find performance in average waves without blowing out the outline too much, so the front end still felt very free through the water etc. I hope that makes sense ✌️
