  • Daiwa's new Free Swimmer reel incorporates a secondary drag for baits. No more copper wire or other gadgets on your rods. Set the drag for your baitfish so that the line will not free spool. When the fish eats, simply turn the handle to engage the real drag. This reel is LEGIT!

I have a 10000 and use it on the surf. Great reel overall. Wish they did a couple things though… 1) Louder clicker. Can’t hear it over waves unless I’m sitting right to it. From 10ft away, can’t hear it at all. 2) 26lbs of drag. They got 26lbs on the similar Emcast, a sub $100 reel. 3) Better spool lip design for casting. As it is, line rubs against both an aluminum and carbon edge. Single material, and angled, would be nice.

that drag sounds horrible. Daiwa needs to go back to the drawing board and fix this (#1 reason why I stopped buying their reels.)
