Unhappy Hour
Hi lex, for real though...
Pretty sure happy hour is an ironic name as they most talk about sad things
i was gonna say that the title of the video contrasts the name f the podcast
@@twitkh6924 or scary things
No way lex i never thought I'd see you here 😅
Hard not to admire the sincerity of anyone who can open up about something like that on a podcast
The pain in his eyes. I’m a 16yr old lifeguard hope I never have to deal with this.
You'll have too. It's part of the job. I dont want to make you feel shit but I'd say its better to expect that to happen. Prepare yourself
you will lol
@@Cryo._. I’ve been a lifeguard over a year now it depends where you work but it’s acc incredibly rare for that to happen unless you deal with open water lifeguarding but even then it’s not that common
Mate I've been a lifeguard now for 6 years it's rare you'll come across stuff like this, I'm lucky and only been in to rescue 3 times and they where nothing major, just make sure your striked at your job to try and prevent the little things
@@oscardavies1105 that’s testament to the lifeguards though, thousands of people would drown in ocean water without lifeguards, greatest respect

When I was around 4-8 years old I did the exact same thing almost, followed my sister into the big pool cause I saw her from the baby pool. I swear, I can remember seeing myself as if I was drifting from my body, everything was in slow motion and then from that point I remember nothing apart from waking up with a bag of crisps that I had already started to eat before I started remembering stuff again. Apparently my sister screamed that I was drowning and some random man jumped in and pulled me out, think the lifeguard was distracted by something, but I swear, if my sister hadn’t alerted people and that man hadn’t jumped in to save me... I wouldn’t be alive right now. I genuinely owe my sister and some random man at a resort in Spain my life.
do you remember how it felt or was it like u were watching urself in third person
Brian Arnold It was like I was watching myself in third person and everything was going slow, I know it sounds cliche but that’s what it was. My dad told me about a car crash he was in and apparently it felt like time was going super slow and everything was in slow motion for him aswell.
Mr. Churchy that's crazy man
nice to see a more serious issue talked about on here, love the funny stuff obviously but things like this are good to be heard especially by younger audiences! 💕
you are one sick minded individual
@@ThomasHoward4thDuke why? I mean it's good for younger people to hear the advice he gave and to hear the realities of inspiring jobs like lifeguards etc. obviously I don't mean extremely young kids or anyone who would be too upset by this... just the sort of age of people who should be watching these videos.
@@ThomasHoward4thDuke theyre sick for enjoying a somewhat darker toned podcast? the fuck kind of reasoning is that lmao

This is honestly the best podcast ever. i love the structure and the hosts. Please get Jordan back more. Hopefully with Alex. I love all of you guys.

I’m a lifeguard myself and I can vouch this for someone who has done cpr on a child before it’s hard and I’m glad to hear it being spoken about
"happy hour"
xD
Owo
This kind of thing reminds me of my dad who wasn't a lifeguard but he was a firefighter, I've talked to him about his experiences before, questions like have you ever nearly died and have any of your friends died, I must have been at least ten (which was why I didn't consider how my questions could have made him have flashbacks or something like that) but I remember his answer was yes and also yes, he told me that once a roof caved in on him but he was just lucky, if I remember correctly I think he also told me that one of his friends got caught on some wire of some sort (I cant really remember what kind) which made the wall collapse and the fire bursted into the room and I am sure you can imagine how it ended, it was a while ago he told me this so I cant remember in much detail, but its things like that that make me realise how much people like lifeguards, soldiers, firemen and other people in those sort of jobs have to go through.
That’s awful I hope he is doing fine now
Yeah he is doing fine now, it's been about 4 years since he left the fire service.
good lord...for some reason, i really didn’t expect something so touching but wow...fucking powerful
Kind of insane how much worse this would have been had that boy not gone underwater when he did, she got incredibly lucky from what it seems.
I'm a mother of a 4 year old and I just can't even imagine this 😔
As a lifeguard myself we used to train once a month, I once save a a child's mum who went too deep and started to go under. It was one of the most intense and heart pumping situation I have probably ever been in. I can truly say the training you get from life guarding (first aid and pool rescue) is priceless. It is a major skill that I believe everyone should have at least a basic understanding of
May Allah help you but please STOP
Was the mum OK?
Touching story but oh yeah yeah
Oh yeah yeah
Alfie yikes
I am a 17 yearold lifeguard and assistant (swimming) teacher. One day (when I was 15) I turned around to take off my lifeguard shirt, so I could go into the water with the kids (they were around fours years old) and two children ran into the deep pool. I heard a scream from another lifeguard behind me and turned to the pool. I saw the two children under water. I quickly got them out and put them on a little bench. They were crying and I wanted to cry too, but I had take care of them. I felt so guilty and irresponsible. Drowning is not what it looks like in the movies. These children sank straight to the bottom and they were so quiet and helpless. Thank god they were okay, because it would have fucked me up if one didn't survive.
They let you be a lifeguard at 15?
@@abbigail7513 well, I was training to be a lifeguard. At that moment I think I was training for lifesaver 2(a dutch diploma idk if it's different in other countries) However, they do let teens help with events or teaching here.

I actually enjoy this over the True Geordie’s recent podcasts

I love Geordie and you can tell he works hard, but I loved the pods when it was just him and loz talking shit for an hour. Not its like getting really serious guests on and talking biff for a couple hours or just doing reactions to other vidoes which he asks his viewers to send him. Apart from the kick off the chanel isn't really progressing
i feel like the work that lifeguards do is v underrated. they risk so much to make sure we're safe in the sea. mad respect to him and every lifeguard around the world. true heros.
Wow that's one of the most powerful stories I've ever heard in my life. Didn't expect to find that on Happy Hour but damn
Gave me goosebumps, so tragic that stuff like this happens nearly everyday :(
This broke my heart ❤️ Thank god she made it.
The first thing I did after watching this was cuddle my 3 kiddies, I'm so glad the wee girl survived, it just shows how quick kids can get away and into serious danger, it's so true that you need eyes in the back of your head! I personally think first aid and cpr etc should be taught in schools from as early as poss, I have to admit I'm useless in emergencies, I'm that idiot that panics and ends up making things worse. Knowledge can be life saving.
CPR and first are are indeed taught in schools, but it’s very lousy training and it’s outdated. Lifeguard training is much more in depth and up to date. Schools need to prepare children much better than they do.
I think we should drown all the children in front of their family.
The Sad Hour Podcast
This podcast is so good because it has so many funny moments and good guests, but it also has stories like this which raise awareness and help reach out to younger members of the audience. ❤️
This is propably my favourite podcast right now
Yeah... ohhf. I need a moment after this one. Thanks for sharing this story Jordan, i didn't realise how much something on Jaackmaate's happy hour podcast could effect me
Holy shit, that must have been a terrible experience
I'm a little late to this video, but wow. This was intense. I work in addictions/social work and I couldn't imagine the damage witnessing a child receiving CPR, let alone having a mother there shrieking. Witnessing a grown man overdosing and being given CPR was absolutely brutal. No one talks about how disturbing, or ...graphic CPR looks when actually being performed. The persons body looks/moves unnaturally; it's gross. I can't imagine and hope to never experience seeing a child in a similar scenario. Also, Jordan, I can tell by how you looked when you shared this, that the mothers screams are still impactful, and I just wish you some peace of mind from those feelings that come about when you think about it. I still hear the dude's gf crying and begging us to do something...blah.
This dudey rhino chaps channel is very underated , brilliant touching story x
Honestly great podcast I love Brian’s and this is also amazing
the real dilemma is who goes on holiday in Yarmouth
Great point about the maturity level of a 16-year-old lifeguard. We have many 16-year-old lifeguards who do a great job. Having counseling is very important. Thank you for the informative video
This is where Jordan became my favorite part of the podcast
I'm a lifeguard myself, luckily never had to experience anything like this but my god that's a nightmare. Glad to see she came around after CPR cause most of the time CPR alone doesn't work. Especially a child so young, just goes to show our training is worth the ball-ache! And I know it's only small consolation but yous saved a life!
Lifeguard myself, I think more people need to know about how CPR actually works and that it's unlikely to save someone by itself as well as more people being trained, hope you dont experience anything like this but good luck if you do man.
I’m really liking this podcast I’ve watched all the videos so far , just wish maybe they were longer or have the full thing to watch , but I can understand why is not and it is a really good way of doing it , also that story was hard to hear hope everyone involved is all good
Love this podcast! X

3 whistles is for when a lifeguard must enter the pool for whatever emergency
Im 18 and been a lifeguard for about a year or two. Never had to make a save and hope I don’t need to.
cool story bro
That ending was absolutely class
Really love the videos jack! Your doing an amazing job! One suggestion? Can we make these podcasts a little bit brighter 😁 ?
Lorenne Dales fuck off

I enjoyed Alex’s reactions on this clip
As a fellow lifeguard who has never had to deal with anything like this, so much respect for this guy
How u go from eating shit to this ,,,, still touching though ❤️
As a lifeguard myself this is my worst nightmare...
I guess I should add I have been a lifeguard for three years and up until now I haven't had to jump in to save anyone yet, or call 911. But I still relate to the story so much as I have heard stories from other lifeguards like this, and we also have regular training, and I was a lifeguard back when I was 16 and if I went through something like that at that age I might have stopped being one.
Luckily the kid survived
The way the story started I did *not* think that was gonna happen.
Glad she made it.
This podcast is so good
I am also a life guard at one of the biggest water parks in the world, I feel this guy ❤️❤️ carrying on from the three whistles. Three whistles now is only supposed to be used when a lifeguard is taking action.
This gave me shivers
Love this , talking about real shit
I just became a lifeguard a few months ago, I'm 17 and terrified that this will happen to me and freak out and not know what to do ):
Dudey your mum is a psychic like when she knew you were injured and when she went to check the swimming pool that’s crazy intuition! What a woman!
That's so sad :(
glad to see not all lifeguards being glamorised, appreciate it
Thank god for lifeguards 🙌
I used to be a lifeguard and something very much the same happened to me and seeing someone that you saw walking and joking 5 minutes before, laying there, limp and lifeless is so so hard. I don't care how solid you think you are, or how much you say you could handle something like that. being involved in something like this will change your life.
Every time I watch dudey I like him more and more
I fucking love this bloke I’m so glad you had him on
Jordan is one of the most real youtubers out there
I’m a lifeguard trainer and lifeguard supervisor. I show this video on my courses. Really shows the importance of the job but also staff training
I’m a lifeguard and we have had so many close calls things happen so fast yet so slow if that makes any sense doing CPR is horrific when you do it in real life they never show you how graphic it could get and the training never gets you prepared for it, however being a lifeguard is so rewarding I have had the best 5 years easily best job in the world
I'm a lifeguard and I have not had an emergency luckily, but this guy is a hero! he is right three whistles means emergency.
I'm glad the kid made it through
As a swimming assistant when I was about 15 I had to learn how to prevent drowning and how to get people safely out and to the side of the pool. Luckily we never had
To use that but the teacher always made the students learn the method too because even though they were young it’s an important skill to have knowledge about.
Imogen Treharne ‘M’
This whole story gave me anxiety 😪
0:35 is the moment you can see Jack's 'lets have this juicy content' face
I am a Lifeguard, and thankfully nothing like this has happened to us since I started (2 years) and we all do training, but we always say we never know how we will respond to something like this.
I'm a nurse in a GP surgery and we only do BLS once a year!
I’m a lifeguard and 17 years old and you do think if something like this was too happen you would be ok but it’s really not, today I was in work and the drowning alarm went off and I’m new and I’ve never had to deal with it before and just running to the pool I was ready but very nervous and worried about what I could’ve saw but luckily a woman had leaned on the alarm so it was a false alarm, very serious when stuff like that happens, and great video 👍
That was one happy hour
There’s some lasses who are like 15 who work at the swimming baths near my house and honestly if something like that happened they would probably won’t do anything they’ll end up running off to tell someone
Happy hour podcast btw
I worked in a care home as my first job just. Gone 17 and I had to do all t he CPR and injury & fall training and some things happened and a lot of other people would be fucked by what. I saw. It’s like literally watching lives fade, these people you learn to love just ... go?
When I was a child, about 5 or 6, I was on holiday in France and some local kids pushed me in the pool and ran off. I couldn't swim. I still remember fighting against the water and looking up at the surface. A teenage girl jumped in and saved me and performed (I think) CPR. The image of the surface of the pool looking up from the bottom is burned into my memory.
Sad Hour Podcast 😢😢

Wow 💔
I was once in Amsterdam with my best mate and he randomly stopped breathing and had no pulse, I was never sure how I'd react in such a situation, especially because I was extremely high but I handled it perfectly and even managed to catch him before his head hit the floor, luckily just as I was about to start chest compressions (after confirming he wasnt breathing and had no pulse) I saw his face twitch and then his face started going back from white to pink but he was out for 45 seconds to a minute, cut to me laying beside him for about 30 seconds while I switched gears, good thing I was in Amsterdam to help me get over it.
3:50 biggest sigh
It’s not that anymore, there’s not whistles for being sick now you just radio to other lifeguards
