The Tern Verge X10 folding bike was designed to be the ultimate combination of lightweight and simplicity while still maintaining a fierce pedigree for speed. One of the ways the Verge X10 achieves such a high degree of performance is by combining a responsive frame with a wide range of gears. By sticking to 10 gears the Verge X10 is very simple to operate. You just click one lever to shift to faster gears and one lever to shift to easy gears. In that way operating the bike is effortless and it lets you spend more time looking at the road and the world around you than down at the gears.
This bike uses a hydroformed aluminum frame to achieve a very light weight without sacrificing ride quality. It uses a SRAM X9 drivetrain for crisp and responsive shifting and it has Kinetix wheels that give the bike zippy an smooth feeling. You wont find a simple and lightweight folding bike that's better than this one. Tern really nailed it with their Verge X10 folding bike. - Sport
I have been riding my Verge X10 daily for over 3 years. Probably the best purchase I have made, can keep up with real road bikes on 20-30 mile rides if you have the legs for it.
I just find this channel. It is very nice to see you again in folding bike reviews, Peter!
That is definitely one of the best looking folding bikes I've seen. The colors are really nice. And I love the white wires, they really set off the white part of the frame.
I've owned both a Brompton and a Tern Verge 10. The Brompton folds much smaller but the Tern is a much better ride. It's fast, light and fits easily in the trunk of my car. I prefer the Tern Verge 10 ... I've had mine for several years without any problems. Need to replace the tires soon.
ugh!! just ordered this thing... can't wait for it to be delivered
tanks for the review and it's nice to see u again
Good to see you back Peter I love your videos looking forward to seeing your next video😀👍👍🤙🤝👏
Quick, informative and to the point. Thank you.
Great looking quality in that Tern folding...
Like that- very clever, quality folding bike great for round town, taking on the train, home/office commute.
Great for longer rides too. I've ridden across London 21 miles on my one. And so easy to ride and comfortable.
So cool to see you again Peter!! I just LOVE this bike... one day it will be mine!!
+bichovergara very cool! Where will you go on your first ride? -Peter
Bikes and Life I have no idea... I still have to explore more NYC. Any suggestions?
I so want this folding bike, I am a fan of the bike folding.
*Nice and easy to fold and unfold. I like the **Latest.Bike** of it components and so far it rides pretty well in pavement-ed trails*
Its a great bike. I've owned the X11 for 12 years and it's still going strong. And I have its big brother the X11 too. Two incredible bikes. They should always be available. No modern bikes are in the same league..
do you have a review on a durable folding bike that can handle a heavy rider?
Outstanding!
Wonderful bike
Awesome, i got mine!
Good day, Peter! Can be upgraded from Vbrake to brake disc if ever?
Two questions: refresh my memory, this is 406 as opposed to 451? Second, say I wanted to convert to a disc brake on the front. I can get a disc brake hub and rim (to match) but is it possible to find a fork that fits this with disc brake tabs? Is it possible to get a Tern disc brake fork for use with this Verge X10?
I ordered two of these from Peter. I hope to receive them soon.
did ypu received ??? how much its price ? let me to know pls
Nice bike! 👍🍀
Its Peter from Nyce Wheel! Love your review in all kind of bikes!
+shah rizal hey! Thanks for finding me! This is my new channel - no longer with the other place. Hope you subscribe and enjoy! What are you riding now?-Peter
Hi there Peter, currently i'm riding the Giant TCR SLR2. Thank you for asking. Hope you have a great day :)
Very cool. That's an amazing bike. Have fun! -Peter
Amigo onde foi esse vídeo, em que Pais e em que cidade, e qual o nome dessa ponte.
Is there another type of handle bar to replace that straight handle bar? I want to sit upright and comfortably can steer d bike easy.
I know Brompton is the best choice (so I've heard) but this bike... wow it's so cool. By far better looking than Brompton to me. I don't feel that "bear on little tricycle" feeling seeing it and it's great. Obviously IMHO.
I use to hate the look of the Brompton but when I ride mine, people at least in London recognise it as quality.
who say Brompton is the best ?
is best what you like not what people say
for me this bike is far ahead of brompton in design is aluminium not steel is very light weight
roberto OBRIJANU steel is definitely smoother though
Francesco Zanolini brompton is so cool and look like a modern . But this bike have a lightweight and very fast . Bromptons are slowly . This is my opinion ☺️
Is it safe to do out of the saddle peddling on a tern bike particularly the verge line?
+paulignacius Absolutely. These bikes are perfectly suited to hard riding. I won't say that about all brands but Tern is focused on ride quality and they've really made some great bikes. Have you ridden a folding bike before and had a bad experience or is it just something you assume based on the smaller wheel size? Thanks for your question!! -Peter
Hi Peter. Really nice review.. could you please give me some info on the tern node 8.. speed, hills, that though of thing.I really like that bike...
I have one. Great all around bike. Good going up minor hills. Great bike for commuting. I get plenty of speed, though I won't win any race against a road bike but it gets up to good speeds. Cheers!
Wow... Love 💕 great❤️
can you make a bike review about doppelganger folding bikes? thanks
does it contain any front deaulier?
I've had a Tern for a couple years and the handle bars have folded down while I was riding too many times than I can count. I've takin to bungie cording the lever shut. To see it is the same on this bike reminds me why I was looking at bikes in the first place.
hacksaw the post off and add a solid stem
problem solved
Where is TERN brand Come from? It looks so great , compact and good IN built
How much does it cost?
Is a little bigger, than the Dahon bike ?
Cycling fashion is important too. ;)
Too true! Are you poking fun at my fleece tucked into my jean shorts? ;) That might be a fashion foul... -Peter
What size are the wheels?
Is this bike good enough for trail riding? Thanks
Can you give me the link to buy this bike,?
does this bike has cruise control?
Friend where was this video, where Parents and in what city, and what the name of this bridge.
That's Roosevelt Island and Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge in New York City
İf you ask who the hell is watching me from Turkey, hello from İstanbul.
amazing bike, i have one !!! much better perfomance than any brompton, i did 84 kms with no problem is like Goku´s
flying Cloud !!!!!
Haha that's pretty cool, I wonder why they say fold bikes aren't designed for such speed
@@coolamericano
They are clueless. My friend has the Tern Verge X18. He has recorded speeds in excess of 50kph (31mph) on flat roads with no head wind.
cool you ran that stop sign about 1:10.
man why so much :(
looks like you located in nyc can i test ride that?
Price???plz
Hi Peter, I saw a Verge X10 in the flesh & it is one beautiful bike. I was wondering if this bike or the Verge S11i would be suitable for light touring? I like the idea of an easily packable, bike that could either pull a small trailer or carry a light load on a rack. One other question please - Are there differences in the frames of the various Tern Lines? i.e. Verge, Link & Eclipse or are they essentially the same frames with different component levels? Thank you.
+daytriker verge frames are lighter than others and probably stiffer as well. The verge s11i is much heavier than this. If recommend putting a front derailleur and wider tires in the Verge x10 for a great lightweight touring setup. We can set you up with that if you like. Email me for a quote: Peter@bikesandlife.com -
Peter
Thank you Peter.
What happened to your right thumb nail bro?
I've seen fingers and thumbs look like that after being slammed in a door!
If you think it feels like a normal bike, try riding hands-free. They're nice for casual twiddling around and short trips, but no folder is a replacement for a regular bike.
Can the Tern fit into a standard sized suitcase when folded?
+Godwin Tan ah! Another suitcase question! ;) no the Tern is just a bit too big for standard suitcases. They have their own case called the Airporter. That works well but will be over sized. For the best travel bicycle, check Brompton.-Peter
Can I fit it into a Samsonite suitcase like a Bike Friday?
I have this model. But being I modify most of my bikes I made some changes. Since I wanted the lightest possible folding bike I removed the gearing and turned it into a single speed bike. I removed the rear brake and kept the front one. I changed the chain-wheel up front to a larger one to compensate for the smaller wheel diameter. Now I have a great folding bike that is light, fast and simple!
I take it there's no hills where you live. The weight difference between a derailer and not having one isn't worth talking about. There's so many other ways you can weight shave. And the bikes already 21lbs.
@@fender1000100 You are correct! No hills here in Miami. If I was in a hilly area I WOULD NOT remove the gearing!
how is climbing?
6 years late comment. But it climbs like a DREAM. Most hills feel like they don't exist on this bike. On the flat riding 20mph is effortless.
You don't know how efficient this bike is until you ride it.
I remember a group of spandex boys stopping me to talk about the X10 after I had hung on their group for 5 Miles. They were impressed how swift this little bike was. I had averaged 19mph over the 5 miles..
Is the seat adjustable??
Does the bike have wheels?
Now I want this bike rather than a road bike
Amazing bike. It's so efficient that it often feels like you are on an electric bike. The only time I have to do any real work is on hills. Or if I want to break the 25mph barrier on the flat. At cruising speed 16 to 20mph its effortless.
How heavy is this hike?
21.3lbs, so very light for a folding bike. Thanks for your questing!-Peter
How much such a hurry
i woud buy it if it has Schlumpf gear instead of shifting
do the screws nuts/bolts rust?
Good question, the nuts/bolts are a high quality steel with a coating to prevent rust. They should hold up very well but if left exposed to the elements and not kept inside clean and dry here can be some rusting. If you're concerned about this you can spray those parts with an anti-rust coating but you'd have to do that somewhat periodically. Check this one out from WD40: www.wd40specialist.com/products/corrosion-inhibitor/
Thanks for watching and great comment! -Peter
Hi Peter I am huge fan of yours. I watched almost every videos of yours. My son and wife already started making fun of me for watching your videos during my every spare time. I bought dahon mu p8 last year which got stolen this year in nyc. I want to buy either brompton s type or tern x10 for my daily commute almost 12 miles a day. Can you suggest me one. BTW my height is 5.7.
thanks peter.
How much is this bike
Indonesia pleas
Price is hah
More beautiful than the Brompton, but less compact and not so good-looking when folded.
weight?
+Truthseeker 21.3lbs without pedals
Truthseeker
21.3lbs = 9.6kg
WoW your bike it's so beautiful WOW brad do you want give your bike for me ha???
shame the never Verge X10 model doesn't have V-brakes anymore...
I love V-Brake mounts because you can place Magura HS33 hydraulic rim brakes on them! they are the most reliable and maintenance free brakes ever...
The never Verge X10 has disk brakes that are very vulnerable for bends and when a wooden stick comes into you wheel...
With a bog-standard derailleur, V-brakes and aluminium frame, this sounds like a 300$ bike.. I was shocked to see it goes for 1500-1600$.
I know. Bike is so overpriced. Check either savadeck folding bike or java bike they offer carbon folding bikes for less
For that price i would buy a nice mountain bike 😆😆😆
Silly money for a £500 bike. Doesn't even fold properly
@@stanleycraftsman8325
You are ignorant. Try climbing a 25 degree hill at 21mph on a mountain bike. This bike and its successor the X11 are precision machines. That can give road bikes a run for their money. Then fold up and go in a car boot or closet.
@@miffachan123
It's not it's worth every penny. You just don't know WHY.
oh hey peter!
Hello! Thanks for watching. So glad you're part of our community. -Peter
Why don't you folding bike reviewers ever mention if the folding bikes are capable of any speed ? That's what we are concerned about. Is it a big secret ? Do we have to buy one, just to find out ? They might be WAYYY too slow to be practical. I'd like to buy a folding bike, but I'd need more info. about speed first. Why don't bike manufacturers make fun little bikes like that that don't fold ? They could be made to fit adults. Lots of seniors would buy them, just to piddle around with. They would be affordable because less materials would be needed. It seems like a no brainer to me. I'd buy one.
This is a cool bike. Does anyone know anything about these new Richbit folding cycles from China? They have a similar sporty look but for a fraction of the price.
Anything can look similar. It's the quality of the parts..and the ride quality.
lucky the frame/hinges of that Tern did not snap/break into 2..
I wasn't fooled by the image of the tern bike that supposedly snapped in half and hundreds sent back.
The bike is as structurally sound now as it was new and only the seat post is scratched due to folding. No regrets
ok.. but WHY did you reply here instead on your Original and First comment where Peter has also replied on your comment?
and WHY did you DELETE your Original comment and should be answered there where i asked??
+youtuber I deleted cos I thought I would be pete's best friend but I'm not😂. what's your problem with tern bikes respectively?
+S. Searle and +Stuart Searle LOL and you're fooling me. ask Peter he knows more.. more than me.
Let's address this concern head on: There was a recall due to one frame failure where a 3rd party investigator identified the factory welding to be the issue, not the Tern hinges. Tern immediately stopped production at that factory, recalled bikes produced by that factory from dealers and issued replacements to customers at no charge. Further, this issue occurred nearly 3 years ago and should not be a concern for new buyers. I'm glad you brought it up, just so we can put it to bed in case anyone else was wondering. :) Thanks as always for your great comments and thanks for watching!! -Peter
is this electrik
No, that's just a non-electric folding bicycle. Tern does have a model called the Elektron which is electric. -Peter
With this bike you don't need electric it's EFFORTLESS to cruise 16 to 18mph. Love it so much.
v brakes for 3,495 pounds...are you serios?
In jakarta this bike is too expensive... With this money, i can buy 4 folding bike made in indonesia (united trifold)
Di sini adanya p10 sama x11 emang ada yg kya gini om
You mean you cant ride it folded
How much?
+Zhaka Mu about $1600 USD
I have the verge X20 Dogs bollocks
It's arguably the best performance folder of alltime. Although the new X11 is pretty awesome too.
i think peter from bikes and life has been sacked, if you any questions on the verge x10 then i'm your man
+S. Searle nope, still here. Lol have just been occupied in some other aspects of the business.
haha that'l teach me to open my mouth, glad you still about and i still love this bike although the new tern X11 looks good have you had a test ride yourself yet?
Bikes and Life can you switch out the handle bars for drop bars?
The spare parts is a headache to every folding bike i have a dahon boardwalk nearly 10 years and i know that, for a lifetime bike buy a normal city-trekking-fitness bike.
Ori win
Please decrease the background music
Ky pacific
Easy to clean. You poop in it, so that's a big plus.
Taiwan company always markup price ..japan is kind
For the price I’d rather get a Brompton
I think the Trinx Dolphin series is way much better than this. Its sleek, tough, modern, light and fast and its very affordable yet the specs are not for 'cheap bikes',🤓
too harsh of a ride...
Tern and dahon is dead. Crius and fnhon 👍😂
Unsubbed from Nice wheels. hah!
+Noel Fonseca Hey! We're happy to have you in our community! -Peter
what happened to NYC wheels?.
y unsub. they still have content.
Great bike condescending boring presentation.
How so. It was a nice presentation. What was condescending about it?
