My daughter got fitted in her first pointe shoes in December. I really have to thank Josephine for the amazing shoes my daughter got. She didn't get fit with Josephine (we are so, so far away) but thanks to all the videos I took my time finding a good fitter and they were amazing. She tried a lot of shoes and she came home with an almost perfect shoe. And it's not perfect because she has the same issue: they won't last very long. They are starting to die but the fitter was very helpful and she made sure that my daughter got a comfortable shoe that would last as much as possible. Probably on the next fit she will try a synthetic shoe but for now she loves her RP shoes. And yes, she got hard shoes but she broke them in really fast and they look gorgeous and she had 0 blisters

I love when you do pointe shoe fittings because I feel like hearing you and other dancers (especially professionals!) talk about how they alter their shoes and what hurts and what the problems are is really helpful for trouble shooting my own pointe shoe experience! Thanks for sharing!

I'd really love a follow-up on how this shoe was better and/or worse (well... maybe not worse, but maybe would have hoped it would be better). I'm thinking, sometimes when we try something on we're really excited and then when we wear it we go ahhhhh hmmmmm wellllllll and I sure hope this is a "oh YAY" but I'm still curious!

I'd love to be fitted for shoes. I still have my shoes, my mother had them framed in a shadow box with a few other pieces from my ballet days (12/13 years ago).

fabric or silicone toe pads??
It's a shame the pointe shoe market isn't as lucrative as regular athletics because if it was there would be millions in research thrown into making a shank that can flex to the user and therefore last longer

I was going to get my first fitting this weekend, but sadly the drive to and from the place is very dangerous in the snow and were getting atleast a foot and a half. So that’s fun 🥲
