    #4. The Commercialization
    #5. The Daunting Task of Planning for your visit
    But Disney Does a lot to help with these (see in the video)
    The Loves:
    #1. The Disney Experience
    #2. It is fun for all ages
    #3. The variety of entertainment
    #4. The service (the magic in the magic kingdom comes from the people working there)

    We go all the time and when our kids were little we told them to look for whatever gift they wanted and remember it and we'd buy it on our way out from Disney Springs. I'd also recommend not over planning it. We've seen guests completely break down because their schedule is thrown off because of delays or other such issues. When we go, as veterans of Disney World, is to plan the big items but to go and just have fun. Especially as our kids got older, we'd just tell them where to meet us and we'd let them go to do whatever they wanted. They had cell phones if there was an issue, but they felt comfortable in the parks that we didn't have much of an issue at all. We'd meet up for group rides or meals and in general just had a lot of fun!

    Mark! Great video. I loved it! Oh yes, your wife is so pretty you lucky guy! I was born in Whittier when Walt was building Disneyland and used to go to Disneyland a lot while growing up. Then when I was about 8 we moved to Oklahoma. But then in 1971 I started making Walt Disney World trips! Yes you nailed about everything but Walt Disney was always about sponsorships of rides and stores. That is where the money used to come from to keep the doors open as the tickets in the day was not bad, now the tickets are bad for one day but my average is about 60 per day because when I go, I go for the full 7-10 day experience! Again, great job on the video. Thank you for your time and both your pretty smiles while you were in the Parks.

It is true the earlier you go the better because the locals have season passes and when it gets hot it gets packed and also certain Europeans are not early risers. This is also true of Bush Gardens.

    Thanks for the video. I'm taking my kids for the very first time Feb 20-27. I figured if we take them out of school and not go the week before when school is out that it willb e a little better. I went ahead and made reservations for dinner every night at the places we wanted (except be our guest, booked solid) and now I'm not going to go to the parks of my choice on the days cause I had to catch the last reservation. Not sure if its a good idea to pick the park based on the restaurant reservation? I think it wills ave us on travel time? Oh well, I'm sure it will be a great time either way!

    I live fairly close to Walt Disney World (about 40 minutes) and most locals here have the same basic for the Magic Kingdom plan: start in main street, take pictures in front of the castle, go clockwise around the park from adventureland to tomorrowland, watch the firework show (Wishes) and then leave. Although, i do know of some people that go counter-clockwise.

  • @lindagoodwin6166
    @lindagoodwin6166 Před 9 lety

    I agree with you.......stop worrying about the price. We realize Going to Disney is not a cheap vacation, however we can go on our favourite rides as many times as we want and the fast passes help a lot. We also stay on property as we bought a DVC a few years ago.

    • @woltersworld
      @woltersworld  Před 9 lety +1

      Linda Goodwin Yeah, we stayed on property and it made it so much better. Actually our at the time 7 year old actually liked the onsite resort better than Disney world. So it was a win win as the the 3 year old loved Disney World. and yeah, once you get over the price thing, or accept it then it is actually a fun time. but sometimes it takes a bit to get over the sticker shock :)

  • @Emy1127
    @Emy1127 Před 6 lety

    As an annual passholder I would actually suggest using your fast passes early because once you use them you can add one at a time for the rest of the day. If you leave them for the afternoon you are wasting the opportunity to add more on later.

  • @FerociousArbiter
    @FerociousArbiter Před 10 lety +1

    You guys should visit Hernando, Florida!

  • @MattMcIrvin
    @MattMcIrvin Před 6 lety

    There are two schools of thought on the FastPasses. Once you've used your three, you're allowed to use the app to get a fourth FastPass from what's available and ride that. And then a fifth, etc., if you manage that many. So some hardcore Disney-goers schedule their pre-selected FastPasses early, so they can keep chaining more FastPasses through the day.
    But, on the other hand, as you say, those early FastPasses can be pointless because some rides don't have bad lines if you get in early. And the selection of late FastPasses can be limited.
    My recommendation would be to not worry too much about going beyond three FastPasses unless you're a veteran park-goer. Taking advantage probably requires being more on the ball than most families visiting WDW for the first time are.

  • @N8R_Quizzie
    @N8R_Quizzie Před 8 lety

    My spring break is right after everyone else's spring break (figuratively speaking) so my spring break when I was 12 there was still massive crowds but we were in the off-season and it wasn't terrible in any way with crowds. Its great.
    Also another thing. I think one of the reasons why the cast members are so polite and enthusiastic is because they spend most of their day at disney world while getting payed! I would love to do that but I can't hear very well sometimes and I might hear "Where can I tee up?" when it is actually "where are the tea cups?" and that would make foreign accents that much harder to understand. So I know that I probably shouldn't have a job with lots of interaction with people every day.

    I've been to WDW in Orlando 11 times since 1993 and I can assure that the best period to go there is between Thanksgiving and Christmas, like the 20 first days of December. The parks are empty and decorated for the Season. Worst time to go: summer vacations. I did it once and it was sufocating.

    You don't need to wait to buy your souvenirs (especially if you want something that's only in the stores right out of the rides) if you're staying off property, both in Disney and Universal Parks, you can ask them to send your purchases to the front gate and you pick them up before leaving the park and you won't have to be carrying them around.

    DO pay attention to the details - especially with the cast members. They are trained to add in little things that COULD go past you - but shouldn't because it's... just perfect.
    Example: We, my ADULT daughter and I, wanted to try out the Winnie the Pooh ride which had been recently updated - and it is wonderful! But when we first approached it, it was temporarily closed down. We wanted to know if this was "one-hour temporary" or "forget it for today temporary". So we asked..."what happened to close the ride?" And the cast member replied, "Oh, we just had a little honey spill. We'll be up and buzzing in about an hour."
    She actually made us smile about being disappointed. The cast members are GREAT!

    Honestly we never plan ANYTHING when we go to Disney. We've gone to Disney 11 times( im 16, so almost every year) and not planning anything and just seeing how things flow and what can we do and what we might leave for later, because if you plan what rides you're gonna ride and what order, you might find yourself not having so much fun as you imagine because you have it in your mind that you have to get here at this time and you're gonna be on a rush...Maybe it's not for everyone bur as far as it's been we always have a great time just for the fact that we take decisions as we go. If you're going in winter, you should decide what park you will go to depending on the temperature, on how cold or how not so cold it is in the moring, If its terribly cold in the morning, just know that its gonna be worst at night and you shouldn't go to parks that have water attractions because you're not gonna be able to ride them and you're gonna miss them and not be able to go back another day and ride them. 😁🙌

    • @yaacovdavidowitz4502
      @yaacovdavidowitz4502 Před 6 lety

      Rey Rivera it definitely does help to plan things to some extent. Obviously, don’t overplan because that will end up just being very stressful. However , it is helpful to plan what park you will be visiting which day due to things like different hours for different parks on different day, wanting to avoid or take advantage of extra magic hours, and when certain attractions are under renovations. In terms of weather , the only park that really matters for is Animal Kingdom , and you can be flexible with your plans . Also, if you know which park you’re going to on each day, you can plan fastpasses accordingly, which is also a good reason to vaguely plan out your day. Also, not that this is for everyone , but if you know a lot about the parks , or you use a touring plan from something like touringplans.com or undercover tourist, it can help you avoid lines and get as many things done as possible

    • @MattMcIrvin
      @MattMcIrvin Před 6 lety

      I think that if you go very often, it's probably easier to experience the parks without a lot of planning. From long experience, you've got a huge amount of tacit knowledge about what's usually crowded and what's not, how long it takes to get somewhere, when it's best to do things, where to get a bite to eat, etc. Also, you're not anxious to cram a lifetime's worth of experiences into one day, so you can relax.
      But a family who's going to Disney World for the first time will probably be overwhelmed and confused if they try winging it--a little bit of research goes a long way; making advance FastPass and dinner reservations will do a lot to keep them from just standing around arguing about where to go.

    • @LewisToursVideos
      @LewisToursVideos Před 5 lety

      My family usually has a general idea of what we’re going to do on any particular day, but the exact details of which rides we go on and exactly what we do, we start to figure out as the day goes on. And we’ve never had any problems doing it that way. 😀

  • @cajayson8301
    @cajayson8301 Před 3 lety

    The best thing to do with Hate #4, i.e. the commercialization, is either wait until the end of the day (as he pointed out) so you're not hauling gifts around all day or go to Downtown Disney and not shop at the parks. The latter is not as crowded and all the shops are close to each other to pick out great merchandise.

  • @BUTTERMAN613
    @BUTTERMAN613 Před 9 lety +8

    Also the big crowds all day every day statement is not true. In the summer , yes, and the weeks surrounding a major holiday yes. (and spring break). However if you go, for example in september/october your vacation stay can be cheaper (by a significant percentage) and wandering through the parks is a breeze along with little to no wait time on many attractions. There are stretches of dates dates throughout the year that it is like this and there are sites around the web that have almost made a science of knowing the best times to go. Its called a crowd calendar. Simply search "crowd calendar for Disney World" up in the browser and research away . A good one to go to is called undercovertourist.com.

    • @woltersworld
      @woltersworld  Před 9 lety

      Chaz Packer Well, the majority of people only have vacation time during holidays and during summer or Christmas... School kind of dictates that children be in school, so yes there are times when the lines are not that bad, but when people are typically going the lines will drive them a bit batty ;)

    • @BUTTERMAN613
      @BUTTERMAN613 Před 9 lety

      woltersworld I do get your point of view. I used to live in Englewood Fl, and showing up at DW when i wanted was standard and so lines and crowds are a non issue when you can go as often as you want. But now living in Michigan, trips are a lot farther apart. So ( from my experience )(the work i've had) i get an allotment of vacation days per year that i can take when i want..... Which will always be on DW's discount package dates which also happens to be lo crowd dates.

    • @woltersworld
      @woltersworld  Před 9 lety

      Chaz Packer I know, if you can get the discount packages and at the right time of the year you are like a king there. That is probably the biggest draw back of my kids now being in school. We can't take that 10 day trip to Disney or new York or where ever in October... dang schools... :) all the best for your travels!

    • @MattMcIrvin
      @MattMcIrvin Před 6 lety

      My daughter refuses to go on the vast majority of rides at Disney World. She has an uncanny-valley phobia of some kinds of animatronics (which turns out to be a more common thing than I'd have thought), and with an unfamiliar ride she's never sure what effect it will have on her, so she usually doesn't want to go on the gentle dark rides--and she's not a big thrill-seeker either. She loves the place, but with a few exceptions, what she mostly wants to do is walk around and soak in the ambiance, and play the interactive games like Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom and Agent P at Epcot. So going to the parks with her involves a lot of swapping off the kid and riding solo, and it definitely does slow us down. I haven't had an excuse to go without her, but honestly I'd probably have a lot of fun visiting solo or just with my wife.

      January is a great time to go. Crowds are very low. But it can get very cold there at that time of year. Thanks to the wonders of the internet, you can check the weather ahead of time to see if you need to bring your gloves and scarves. Last Feb I walked around bundled up in triple layers, (I had come from freezing temps up north) and it was the coldest I've ever been in the parks. Actually waiting to board my plane right now, should be @ WDW by noon. :-)

    Disney does allow you to film all you want. I had my camera on every ride and took tons of pictures and videos. No one ever said a thing. The only time they do not let you take pictures or video is if you are doing it somewhere you should not be in the first place, or Flash photos when you just will not get anything and ruin the ride for others. Some effects they use do not show up when a flash is used any way. The biggest thing people need to know is plan PLAN PLAN. that make the best trips. takes research but you have a much happier time, once there things can change just go with it, there is no way to see everything at Disney in one day or one trip anyway.

  • @citizenofcorona8783
    @citizenofcorona8783 Před 6 lety

    The crowds are the absolute worst thing about Disney. Crowd calendars are more useless than toilet paper in that it is crowded every minute of every day the parks are open 365 days out of the year. It's just that you have very crowded days and then you have days that are so crowded that they have to turn people away because the park is at capacity. On some attractions a FastPass+ is absolutely mandatory if you don't want to end up blowing half your day waiting in line.

    They do let you film in the park just not in some parts like construction areas and places in the park that are not able to be filmed in like river county and on rides but you can film in the park. Also best time to go is during the weekdays between end of spring break and beginning of summer vacation and as early in the day as you can go for less crowds

You mentioned about shopping and carrying things around all day, but then negated that in you last "love" point about the technology with the package shipping to Disney hotels.

      My family has stayed at Animal Kingdom and Caribbean Beach. Caribbean beach wasn't bad but lacked the charm of Animal Kingdom. It was setup more like a motel. It had a pool for each section and a very large main pool for the entire resort.
      Animal Kingdom was great with the exception of it is only close to the Animal Kingdom park. Also there was only one way of getting to the resort (bus).
      It had great restaurants and lots of animals to watch.
      I think next time out we will try the Polynesian.

      In addition to the early am hours, each park except Animal Kingdom has 'Extra Magic Hours' for 2 more hours after closing - resort guests only. Also, WDW resort guests have access to the 'Magical Express', which provides free luxury coach transportation to and from Orlando Airport, a savings of up to $250 for a taxi, depending on how many are in your party, if you're nor renting a car. They even pick up your luggage at baggage claim for you and transport it directly to your room. Can't beat that for feeling like a VIP :-)

    The cast members in Florida must be different than the ones in California. At Disneyland in Anaheim they'll yell and shout at you to move when there's a parade about to start, tell you rudely to stand aside, insult what your wearing on your head (Darth Vader did that to me), cast member so old they don't know what you're talking about in regards to Star Wars or any new Disney movies and demand to see ID before purchasing anything even if it's not alcohol. The customer service at Disneyland in Anaheim is rude and so unprofessional!
