    You can change the way Kontakt plays back the sample speed.
    So if you stretch a sample across multiple octaves it doesn’t effect the playback speed.
    At the source,same menu a the same as where you can find the “DFD” option ,you can choose “tone machine”
    Now only the pitch is affected not the sample playback speed.

      Bram B thank you! Time machine seems to be a very important feature that you’ve helped us to identify. Knowing about this helps a great deal when we have time constraints or limited samples.

    Good video! I learned some new things today, here's what I know about DFD:
    DFD = Direct from Disk... The beginnings of the samples are read into the RAM of the PC and will be streamed/loaded from disk as soon as you hit that sample on the keyboard.
    DFD = an intelligent memory management system in KONTAKT that makes it possible for big sample libraries to be used on a low RAM with slow HD system.
    DFD improves latency problems as the sample (almost) immediately starts from RAM and gives the OS time to "find and stream" the remaining part of the sample(s) from HD.
    Try the difference, go from sample mode to DFD and check your Memory usage using the task manager (on Windows) you will note a significant difference.
    Again thanks fro your info, is it not nice how we can all learn from each other? I just love it! :-)

      Thanks! Nice description of DFD, better than how I've seen NI describe it haha.

    Great video! Hey guys! HOW DO I REMOVE THE DEFAULT PAN IN KONTAKT? I have found it difficult to find information on this. Essentially, for example, if a key is played on the left, the instrument will sound louder on the left side of the headphones. The same goes for keys played on the right side, which makes the sound on the right headphone louder. How can I remove this effect so that is sounds centered and not based on key position? Thank you!

    NI has the worst software support. When I finally got hold of them on their forum, they said that they found a solution to my problem, but didn't post it. Instead they said to contact them via ticket. And when I did they never answer...

    • @AndrewSouthworth
      @AndrewSouthworth  Před 5 lety +1

      They can be hard to get ahold of. When i've submitted tickets in the past sometimes they would reply quickly, other times it took forever, and occasionally no reply at all. My guess would be that they're understaffed.

    • @AndrewSouthworth
      @AndrewSouthworth  Před 4 lety +1

      Kontakt loads as a vst or au, so if finale can load those youd be good. You could also export midi in finale to another daw that can load vsts and au. Ive never used finale before.

    How many of you are using KONTAKT 6?

    • @AndrewSouthworth
      @AndrewSouthworth  Před 5 lety

      I only use it for libraries that require it, which isn't many. However this is really because I develop my own libraries and once accidently saved one in Kontakt 6, so I had to recreate it again in Kontakt 5 to keep compatibility. If I didn't make libraries I'd use it exclusively.

    • @lincolnmmitchell
      @lincolnmmitchell Před 5 lety

      That sounds about right, All of my Instruments are Kontakt 6, and thinking I need to release them in Kontakt 5.@@AndrewSouthworth

    • @AndrewSouthworth
      @AndrewSouthworth  Před 5 lety

      I released a library that had some bonus presets in Kontakt 6 (they were accidentally made in K6 and it wasn't worth re-doing), and I got emails from customers asking me to please not rush into making K6 libraries. Apparently only the hardcore Kontakt audience has really upgraded so far, which is probably mostly made up of Kontakt developers.

  • @patkelly3966
    @patkelly3966 Před 4 lety +2

    V6 has absolutely no improvements over v5. In fact it has taken steps backwards, ie, no 8 or 16 out vst anymore. The routing for multi-outs is horrible. The GUI is terrible and always has been but you'd think by now they'd have got round to updating it.

    • @AndrewSouthworth
      @AndrewSouthworth  Před 4 lety

      They added some features, but it is a shame how minor it is. They added some new FX, and some conveniences for developers. I would have wanted a complete GUI rehaul. Didnt realize they got rid of multi out, are you sure it isn't just buried somewhere else?

    • @AndrewSouthworth
      @AndrewSouthworth  Před 4 lety +2

      I haven't tried it yet, but a tutorial online showed inside of Kontakt 6 stereo version you can switch to multiout mode. Somewhere in settings. Apparently they did this to avoid having 4 versions of the plugin for different out cases, instead its just managed inside the stereo version of the plugin.
