you are right, he is not ready to accept the any obvious fraud game. when bank lending money, on they have to do proper due diligence. two simple things, 1) when insiders holding huge proportion of shares, P/E is usually extremely high than sector average. 2) when releasing loan against pledged share, they have to factor in liquidity, not just face value.
