The history of Fuerteventura
The Canary Islands, including Fuerteventura, were inhabited by natives, the Guanches. North African Berber tribes are assumed to have originated from around 3000 BC. BC populated the islands. From the 30th century BC A first settlement of the Canary Islands takes place in at least two waves. Around the 11th century B.C. Phoenician seafarers probably visit Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, but this is not clearly documented. In the 8th or early 7th century B.C. In the Odyssey, the Greek poet Homer describes the “Islands of the Blissful”,[10] which were often identified with the Canary Islands even in ancient times.
A stone wall is said to have existed across the isthmus of the island separating the north from the south until the arrival of the Spanish in the 15th century. He demarcated the island's two kingdoms into northern Maxorata with King Guize and southern Gandía (today Jandía) with King Ayoze.
Walking along the isthmus of Jandía, below the Costa Calma wind farm, you can find the remains of a thick wall about three meters high. Whether it is the real wall of legend is questionable. In 1312 Lancelotto Malocello landed on Lanzarote. Because of his fantastic reports - in 1340 - Spaniards and Portuguese set out with expeditions towards the Canary Islands. The islands were plagued by European prospectors, traders and slave hunters. In 1402, the Norman Jean de Béthencourt launched an expedition from Lanzarote, which he had previously conquered.
In January 1405, King Guize and his followers were baptized. A day later, King Ayoze followed with many of his residents. The kings stayed on the island and even got lands back. Betancuria was established as the capital. In 1412, Béthencourt took the oath of fealty before the Spanish king. In 1424 Fuerteventura became a diocese for political reasons. However, the bishop never took office on site. In 1430 the appointment to the bishopric was annulled and Guillén de las Casas acquired ownership of the island. In 1441 the Franciscan Didakus came to the island and founded the monastery of Fortaventure. He is considered a missionary of the Guanches. In 1456, Guillén's property passed to his heir, Diego García de Herrera. Herrera and his successors ruled over the island as señores and systematically developed them.
An important source of income for the Herrera clan was slave hunting on the North African coast. In 1708 a military rule, the so-called Coroneles (German: the Supreme), was founded with its headquarters in La Oliva. In 1740 English corsairs landed at Gran Tarajal and wanted to conquer the island, but they were defeated in two battles at Tuineje.
During the 17th and 18th centuries there were repeated raids by privateers. Therefore, to protect the island, the two fortress towers of El Cotillo and Caleta de Fuste were built in 1740. Antigua became the new capital in 1834, and in 1835 the administrative center was moved to Puerto de Cabras (today: Puerto del Rosario). In 1836 the feudal rule of the Señores was abolished.
In 1852 Isabella II declared the Canary Islands a free trade zone. The military rule over the island was dissolved in 1859 and Puerto de Cabras finally became the new and current capital of the island in 1860. In 1912 the Canary Islands were granted self-government rights (Cabildo Insular).
Fuerteventura and Lanzarote became part of the province of Las Palmas in 1927. In 1966 the first vacationers came to the island. In 1975 about 4500 Spanish Foreign Legionnaires were transferred to Puerto del Rosario. In 1982 the Canary Islands received their own autonomous status.
In 1986 Spain joined the European Community, but the Canary Islands retained their special status. Tourism became the island's main source of income in 1990; construction activities reached their peak. The Foreign Legion was withdrawn from Fuerteventura again in 1996.

Super Video. Wir fliegen nächstes Jahr auch wieder nach Costa Calma. Ich fliege schon seit 30 Jahren nach Fuerteventura. Für mich die beste Urlaubsinsel...
Ja mir gefällt Fuerteventura auch sehr gut bisher, heute geht es nach Costa Calma, also evt. Kommt heute schon Teil 4 meiner Urlaubsvideos.
Wir fliegen erste mal jetzt Ende April dort hin...wie ist die Temperatur denn da, kann man schon im Meer baden?🤔🤗😅

In den Monaten April und Mai steigen die Temperaturen auf bis zu 25 Grad Celsius an. Die Sonne zeigt sich jetzt schon acht bis neun Stunden pro Tag. Bei durchschnittlich nur ein bis zwei Regentagen im April und Mai und einer Wassertemperatur von 19 Grad Celsius im Atlantik, ist ein Badeurlaub wunderbar möglich.

Ich war schon 11Mal in Fuerteventura, davon 8 Mal im RIU Palace Tres Islas und vielleicht wird's in diesem Jahr den neunten Aufenthalt in dem Hotel geben. Das andere RIU Hotel heißt übrigens La Olivia.

Für mich weltweit der beste Strand weil er nicht nur km lang sondern auch breit ist und die Wellen manchmal sehr hoch sind, ich war schon in Kuba,Hawai,Mallorca,USA usw. aber habe nie einen vergleichbaren Strand gesehen.

Das stimmt. Ich war auf Hawaii und war enttäuscht vom viel gepriesenen Waikiki beach. Schmal und der Sand nicht so schön. Da sind die kilometerlangen Strände von Fuerte eine andere Klasse.

Und noch eine Frage : Brauchen wir, bzw. unsere 9 Jahre alte Tochter einen Corona Test für das Hotel? Leider antwortet keiner auf unsere Mail Anfrage.
Es müsste so circa zwischen 17 und 18:00 Uhr gewesen sein. Mein Stand ist das erst Kinder ab 12 Jahren einen Corona Test brauchen, aber diese Angabe ist natürlich ohne Gewähr.

In dem Hotel war ich vor über 20 Jahren mal, bisl altbacken in der Einrichtung und ringsum Totentanz 🤣
Als Badeurlaub paar Tage ganz OK.
Für richtigen Urlaub mit Puderzucker Stränden geht's dann eher nach Thailand oder Bali

Auch im Norden von Fuerte und im Süden, Jandia gibt es traumhafte Strände die denen in der Karibik.gleichen
Feinsandig und hell. Fuerteventura muss man erkunden am besten mit dem Mietwagen. Erst dann offenbart sich die Schönheit dieser Insel.

Ich denke Asien ist nicht vergleichbar mit Fuerteventura. Es kommt immer darauf an, was man möchte. Ich war schon auf Hawaii. Der Waikiki beach war nicht annähernd so schön wie die Strände auf Fuerte. Wie gesagt, es kommt drauf an, was man möchte. Fuerte ist eben mehr zum relaxen und zum Inselerkunden.

Ja genau deshalb kann man sie nicht vergleichen. Ich kenne von Asien lediglich Singapur, aber das ist natürlich nicht das "richtige", Asien. Hinzu kommt natürlich noch die Flugzeit. Wo waren Sie denn in Asien?

Das Hotel heißt Riu Palace Tres Islas und befindet sich ca. 5 km von Corraljeo.
Vor 15 Jahren hat es schon so ausgesehen, aber sie dürfen (soweit ich weiß) nicht renovieren.
Ja dürfen sie nicht sagte man auch vor Ort
