    This is the first time that I ever heard your great tip of having all the heads at eye level. I can see how that makes a huge difference in keeping the perspective accurate. Thank you! (And thanks for saying it more than once, so it would sink in for me. 😉)

      The best teachers say things three times in a lesson, and as a person whose focus ebbs and flows, I really appreciate it. It's funny because I actually learned this from him in one of his videos long ago, and didn't realise a lot of my art knowledge that I actually utilise, comes from Teoh!

    Re: "Oops!" I love it! It is very encouraging to me. When someone as experienced as you can have a few "oops", I am less worried about my mistakes. Thanks so much for all you do.

    This is an awesome video.....Teoh, you use paper you don't really like, and paint you haven't used in a while..and this painting turned out fabulous..in my opinion. You are so so carefree and relaxed and your mistakes don't bother you one bit..I want to learn to paint with such a relaxed demeanor..I just love your content..again, a big THANK YOU

    I purchased this set as well as the ArtGraf travel tin with stick and brush and the Derwent Graphitint pencils for Xmas, thinking that these are the perfect take-along for trips. Then Covid19 happened. Disappointed that I can't go out with them, but you've inspired me to plein-aire in place!! Thanks for the video, I'm going to pull those out and use pics!! Great demo!!

      Well, the graphite pencils I purchased were the Derwent Graphitints. I love them, I created a palette of the colors on 300# paper by drawing swatches. Then whenever I need a touch of a neutral color, I just activate the swatch. Reserve my pencils, that way there's always a sharp pencil ready.

    • @purity2706
      @purity2706 Před 4 lety +1

      But I highly recommend buying both the ArtGraf colors in the set reviewed here and the Derwent pencils, because the Graphitint set doesn't have a good yellow.

    I discovered ArtGraf thanks to you - Bought sepia (I think) at the time you reviewed the earth tones set, then forgot about it. Have been playing with it again and I love it, and I added a white block that's incredibly useful. Thanks a lot ! (I can turn my inexpensive watercolors into gouache with those blocks and that's a lof of fun)

      @@teohyc Thanks. I went to their website looking for more info. They describe it as a block of pressed pigment...but they don't say if there is any graphite there. It is steznage because they list these in their page of graphite products. Anyhoo, have a look for yourself www.viarco.pt/en/artgraf-products/ Thanks again for sharing this (new to me) product.

    Hi Teoh ! I would be interested if you you show a sample on toned paper. I imagine they could be great like that even adding some touches of white there and there to floodlight the sketch and increase some contrast effects between some colors of art graph. I want to give a try myself but they are pricey. They seems to be not too straining because you could sponge your error without any stain, that's a good point. But are they lightfast enough in case to frame out the sketch ?

    I have a box of water-soluble colored pencils, but I find them tedious to use, difficult to predict how it will turn out, and the result inferior to watercolor paints + brush. I haven't used them in months.... 😫

    • @starshinesoldier

      Paula Bean watercolor pencils are good for touching up and adding some details and then blending them with water or a water soluble blender marker like to tombow brand. (Not the alcohol based blenders). I hated my watercolor pencils at first too.
