How to purge a beer keg with recycled carbon dioxide

This process captures the naturally produced carbon dioxide from beer production and uses it to push sanitizer and oxygen out of a keg before it is filled with beer.

STEPS:
1. Connect the keg’s gas post to the fermenter’s blow-off
2. Fill keg: 5 gallons (20L) water to 1 fl. Oz (30mL) StarSan
3. Connect liquid post of 1st keg to liquid post of 2nd keg
4. Connect check-valve to gas post of 2nd keg

TIP: Use distilled water to increase shelf-life of sanitizer solution
*Be sure to leave adequate headspace in fermenter to avoid filling keg with krausen.
