      My golden used to bring me hedgehogs. We had a whole family living in our yard for generations and in summer when they were more active and running around at night my dog would catch them and bring them inside. She would sometimes hurt her own mouth with their quills but never showed any intention to kill them, never hurt them, never bit hard enough to nick the skin or cause any kind of damage. She simply picked them up and brought them to us. I remember we would just take the little spicy ball from her and put it back in the grass, locking her indoors with us, then silently go watch from the window as the little critter unrolled and ran back to the bushes

    • @BewareTheLilyOfTheValley
      @BewareTheLilyOfTheValley Před 5 měsíci

      @@bleachnbones7107 D'aaww!! That is precious! My family had a weimaraner and when me and my brothers walked in the woods around where we lived as kids, we brought her with us to hopefully give a heads up if she noticed something like a snake. While walking one day, she hung back and when we turned back for her, she was in the classic dog pose of having spotted something and was about to either fight or flight. We only wanted her as an alarm, not to get bitten by anything, so we began to hurry back and pull her away from whatever she found.
      Before we could, though, she lunged forward and grabbed whatever had caught her eye and then began to jog happily up to us. It wasn't dangling, so it wasn't a snake, thankfully. When she finally caught back up, we saw...she'd snatched up a turtle 😆. We decided to just let her keep the turtle for the walk, taking it from her at times so she could rest her mouth. She was clearly super proud of herself, wagging her little stub of a tail. We later though released the turtle in a pond.
      That would then kick off her bringing us the bones of various animals, killing several blue jays and red robbins (or cardinals...some kind of red bird), and even gifting us a snapping turtle. We found out that day exactly why they're called snapping turtles, lol. Thankfully, no one lost a finger but using a bottle cap to prod at the mouth of a snapping turtle probably was a quick way to go missing a digit. Not our smartest moment, lol.

      My father learned this the hard way. One of our cats is the friendliest, sweetest boy in the world towards people, absolutely loves everyone, even strangers- and he still took a chunk out of his arm when he tried to physically step between him and their older male. We know it wasn't malicious, he'd never do that intentionally to a person. He was just hyperfocused on the other cat, his brain was in fight mode, and someone got caught in the crossfire.
      Best method I found through trial and error with our boys was to get a blanket or towel over each of them, then relocate one to another room (still wrapped in the blanket/towel) so they can both take some time to cool off. Doesn't happen often, fortunately. I'm not sure why they get in these moods sometimes.

      Cheetahs are kind of pushovers in animal kingdom. It's a sad but tru fact. They learned to conserve energy while hunting and dragg prey into the trees for a reason! First of all cheetah will give up quite quick if they can't catch pray right away because they still need energy to kill its pray and drag it into a tree and eat it. Koyotes, lios are often just scare chetahs away from what they couth because cheetah can't risk injury if fights brakes out. Injured cheetah is dead cheetah.
      Quite sad if you ask me. Being fastest land animal and huge push over.
      P. S. I renembered that cheetahs start to eat pray from certain parts to. That way they insure that they get energy they spent hunting back and only then go for what is consider "tasty".

      @@TheEstafista that’s pretty wrong overall. Cheetahs do use a lot of energy hunting prey since they move so fast (like 1,000 calories per try). Also they are only 20% successful at each hunting attempt. I don’t understand what you are saying about coyotes because they’re literally no coyotes in Africa (hyenas maybe?). Yes, cheetahs are pushovers but they almost never drag prey into trees, that’s a leopard you are thinking of, completely different. Really about 1/2 of what you said is completely wrong. Also if you wonder how I know I’ve spent the last 9 years living in east Africa and I’m currently in Kenya as I write this right now.

They are very cautious cats, and any sign the prey might be capable of putting up a fight and they'll back off, and we definately look like we can put up a fight (and we can. Theres no guarantee the cheetah wins in a fight against a 30yo male human, although the human would probably needing a trip to the ER after that even if he wins. Against a Tiger or Lion however, the human is well f***ked.). Jump at the cheetah or give it a good growl, and it'll get the message.

      @@cicicave1279 I actually almost ended up in the middle of a cat fight when I was a kid. My beloved cat was in a horrible fight with a tomcat who was almost 3x her size (she was a tiny cat). She was also the smartest cat I've known, though, and fiercely protective of us as kids, like she was our nanny. I saw the fight through the window - it was so bad that there were multiple people on the sidewalk trying to sort of stop it - and despite it being a literal whirlwind of fur, I realized it was her in the fight, ran outside, and was hurtling at full speed towards it. I was 100% going to throw myself between her and the other cat bc I loved her more than anything, but she knew, and she stopped for just a second, looked over at me, and then broke away from the fight. She was so fiercely territorial of our yard that I honestly don't think she would have stopped the fight if it hadn't been out of concern for my safety. But, ironically, if she'd continued in the fight, she also likely would have been killed bc her injuries turned out to be pretty bad. It just wasn't obvious at first bc she was in shock and thus not really bleeding yet. So I guess we both kind of saved each other in the end.

I worked up this theory from two videos and my own experience with a cat. The first video was talked some about a snake that will give up a meal simply because the mouse alerted the snake to knowing the snakes presents. Also, Jackson Galaxy has this video about cat behavior and I tested it out on my cat to see if it was true. The tip is looking at a cat when is preparing to attack will stop the cat from attacking and that tip has saved my legs so much.

Not only can they injure you badly, but your wounds are also likely to become infected, especially from bites. The best bet is to try and scare them with a loud noise, or spray them with a hose if you have one. Brooms also work.
