@REXYLAB I would have assumed there was much more at play, the hybrid is such great quality that sacrifices nothing meaningful to the average player!
@@MayorMcCheese2000 exactly! It’s even made in the same USA factory out of the same materials (unlike a different bridge we all know).
You sacrifice very little getting a hybrid. But to be safe there will be time demos with the different rollers and cams available with the professional bridges. You should give that a look when it is available.
This is a very informative video. The palm bar drives me nuts! I NEED one, but first i need my Kahler. Anyone who doesn't like Kahlers needs to open their minds. If your a die hard floyd guy, adding a Kahler to your bag of tricks only expands your possibilities. I want as many differences between my guitars as possible. This is a great way to spice up the collection. A different look and feel brings a different FEELING, and by extension, a different inspiration to your playing!
I couldn’t agree more. I love fulcrum trems but the cam stuff is amazing!
Plus, the Kahler fulcrum stuff is top notch.
@@REXYLAB If i remember correctly the Kahler feels like a high tech Bixby. The response is different from a fulcrum. Less dramatic and more controlled.

Kinda a different topic, but the 3300 or is it 7300 , the hard tail flat mount, dose it require top routing or is it a true surface mount job ? Damn it , I thought I was going to put Gotoh 1996T on a guitar, but you and especially the interview with the man himself and his commitment to keeping jobs in the US has got me seriously considering a Kahler. I’ve always thought they look cool and thought there had to be a reason Megadeth used Kahler hard tails at their peak . Anyway I couldn’t find any clear information on the surface mount hard tail. It’d be going on a super Strat , and I know a 1996T and a Kahler hard tail are pretty different considering it wouldn’t even be a tremolo, but I like the feel of a Floyd Rose bridge even if it’s blocked, under my palm and I think the Kahler would probably feel pretty comfortable under the palm too , and it it’s truly a no routing installation it’d be reversible with the exception of the mounting screws right ? Sorry for the long comment and hopefully I made some sense lol.
Yes, the fixed bridge is the 3300 or the 7330. They are the same price and identical in every way down to where they are made so the 3300 is getting discontinued. But the 7330 is exactly the same so don’t worry, you can still get it.
The 7330 is a no route bridge so you are correct, you get it where it goes and just install it. You can also replace the rollers with brass, steel, or Teflon glass so that option is great and reduces friction. You can also use it with or without a string lock or locking nut.
I will be doing a full install of a 7330 in the near future so you will have access to all the details.

How does the Kahler Flyer compare to these? I just picked up a Greco guitar that has one, first time Kahler owner, I've had over a dozen Floyd Rose guitars though

Building a modified 1988 Casio PG 380 synth guitar (High end Strat). Switching the Floyd with this Hybrid so the spring cavity can be used for wireless guitar and MIDI. The rest of the guitar is filled with MIDI synth electronics...needed the space...Not sure I will like it yet.....the set screw bridge lock may get a modified thump screw if I can figure it out.
The strings want to go off the rollers without some tweaking. Do not like the small fine tuners either.
ALSO seen your video about the trem lock in another Kahler. I had an idea years ago like that. Used the tone block of a floyd with a hole in it and a cam pin that went to a fixed rod and the whammy end was half round like Kahler has...interesting concept.

I don’t know if you’re using piezos but Gary Kahler says those do not work with the rollers and it creates very unpleasant sonic artifacts. The fixed bridge screw is extremely simple, you’ll get it in no time.
As for the Auto-Latch, you wouldn’t believe how complicated that thing is in design to make it easy for the end user. It took Kahler 2 years to develop it to where it worked well every time.
@@REXYLAB No problem,Hex pick up. And learned about the strings being soldered. Hard to find the EKXL110 strings. Will need to do it myself IF needed. The thumb screw idea is for on the fly locking/unlocking.
The locking nut is another story about FR R3 nuts now having a 10" Radius from a 12". Driving me crazy on my other Casio builds having a 14" Gotoh bridge which comes with them a 12" radius neck and a 10" radius nut...These Gotoh bridges have no problems for me...Have a original Floyd from the 80's still in the box yet to be put on one some day.. Still like that auto latch Kahler and will be watching that one...

Kahler does sell locking nuts as well as the behind the string lock. They have lots of options, see if they have what you need.

Great question, as of yet no but you can do an Auto-Latch and have that performance on a fulcrum Kahler or when the conversion kit comes out even a Floyd.

It’s an option for one of the roller materials. It would probably be best for you to wait for the sound sample video so you can hear the difference between it and stainless steel and 360 brass.
is the mounting exactly the same between them? I would want to save money if I buy one.
Mounting is identical. The only differences are the ones I mention and this is a Kahler authorized video.
What is the other extra hole for?
The middle hole is for spring tension adjustment. The far hole either top or bottom is for the bar, the hole between spring tensioner and bar is a clutch to adjust tension on the bar.
On the 2300 you have 2 places to put a bar and each place has a clutch for the bar.
I've noticed also that the top of the cam on the professionals looks flatter and less rounded than the Hybrid perhaps?
That is an illusion. They are identical except the two extra holes and only come in 360 H/H brass.
Never heard of a palm lever. Where did that come from ? Bigsby ? Also, when locking your hybrid is there still tension on the springs...Im thinking you still would have to replace the springs every now and then even if you dont use the trem function all the time.
The palm lever is Kahler.
There is tension on the springs when locked however I have never had to replace trem springs that were worn out ever.
I talked to Gary Kahler about spring tension once and he told me to never mention it publicly because people go crazy with their ideas about when to replace springs.
So you can replace them if you want but I have springs from 1985 that are still just fine. Most of the time people replace things rather than just cleaning them up and performing a setup. That’s sad because much of the time a squirt of deoxit or a turn of a screwdriver will fix the problem right up.

@@maxmustardman298 absolutely, the point of my channel is to help educate people about how to make their guitar be everything it can be.
This includes not wasting money on unnecessary “upgrades” and definitely not replacing parts that just need to be cleaned or adjusted. When I think about all the parts I replace that were fine because some “expert” told me it was bad when it probably just needed to be cleaned with deoxit makes me cringe.
I have bought many guitars for pennies on the dollar just because people were convinced they had worn out their guitar. Here is a prime example of an amazing guitar I got for next to nothing because it was dirty everywhere, especially the electronics.

its good to see that you still can find used guitars that aren't duds, if you factor in that people do not know or care to maintain their instruments...but you still cant rely on cheap imports to be right from the factory. Certain brands just dont seem to able to pull it off. Bought 2 guitars recently, b stock that is, from a reputable dealer that had the same issue, bridge not located correctly so that it cant be intonated...its a mystery to me how such fundamental things are overlooked or even accepted by the dealers.@@REXYLAB

More crazy is when people sell their stuff because it’s dirty and they don’t realize it just needs to be cleaned.
The third screw on the lever is a huge mistake in my opinion. Every time I come across one the tension screw has worn the brass out around the harder screw metal on the lever. The cam travel clicks and catches on it when you use the bar after a while. Also makes returning to zero impossible catching on the screw shaft. I always replace them with originals. Thought it was a mistake when I came across it initially as that is a bass trem part originally. Ask RJD and Flyer Boy they’ve seen it too.

Even if you were to take that screw out, the tension pin would then get stuck in the screw hole. The tension screw is hardened, the spring screw coming in from the backside is hardened, and with the brass being softer it gets mega gouged in that area and the two hardened surfaces rubbing is bad news. I am only trying to share information I've come across using these systems for years. There's also a VERY important screw mod for the springs. They work loose over time and the springs shear the heads of the screws off. Again, ask RJD. We've done some serious R&D on our end. Good content, Gary needs the exposure. @@REXYLAB
@@subversivecraft again, I’ll ask RJD about it but in the time I have used Kahler I have never had a problem with anything getting stuck in that load lever screw hole. I was concerned about it too and tried to force it to not work, didn’t happen.
