    How To Make The BEST Cold Brew Coffee Recipe at HOME! This CZcams video is great for beginners learning how to make cold brew coffee at home. I explain how long cold brew should sit, what method is easiest and how to brew it with materials you have at home!
    I hope you enjoy this video on the different methods of how I make my cold brew coffee at home. Please like and subscribe and let me know what you think!! I make videos on Food, Fitness and Fashion (Coffee is considered a food to me;)

    • Starbucks Pitcher Packs: amzn.to/3tbz3wg (for these you won't have to buy a pitcher, you just need any type of pitcher and the packs contain themselves, great when traveling)
    A few key things to take away from the video are:
    1. Use room temperature water to start.
    2. You can brew it on the counter top or in your refrigerator
    3. let it sit for 12-24 hours. (12 is good enough, the longer it sits the more concentrate it becomes).
    4. Have fun with it, nothing needs to be exact
    5. The method I used for the Jar had ratio of 1:5 coffee to water
    Benefits of Cold Brew over regular coffee:
    1. Easier on your stomach because it has less acid than Hot Brewed coffee
    2. Higher Caffeine content :)
    3. Ready to drink right when you wake up!
    4. Doesn't taste bitter because the bitters don't extract during the cold brew process
    5. The list goes on, I'll make a video on this too:)

    You need to use coarse grounds so that the coffee extracts slower since the brew time is between 12-20 hours long. Finer grounds will extract quicker and be more acidic.

      I sometimes use course and sometimes medium. I like when it’s a very rich bold flavor that the medium grounds give. I don’t notice the acidity level going up much. I still really enjoy it!!

    What is the grounds to water ratio? How coarse?

    • @TheresaCampbell
      @TheresaCampbell  Před 3 lety +2

      So the coarseness can be a variety depending on what method you use. If you have a very fine mesh system you can use just about any size ground, if you're very picky about any residue in your coffee go with a medium grind so on a scale 1-10 do 5. If you can do a test and see the size of the ground and think will this fit through my mesh system I'm using.. then you'll be good. For Coffee ratio a good Concentrate is 1:4, 1 part coffee, 4 parts water. So like 1 cup coffee, 4 cups water, or 1 ounce, 4 ounces. I hope this helps!! It's best to make it strong and then you can always add ice, water or milk to dilute it!

    • @TheresaCampbell
      @TheresaCampbell  Před 4 lety

      Vithuran Bavananthan did you use a very fine grind of coffee? Sometimes that will make too much of the actual grind get into the pitcher where the water is. My suggestion is a rougher ground more like a French press grind. Was the rest of the coffee good? Just the last cup wasn’t ?

      Vithuran Bavananthan I think a courser grind for the coffee will help you! Also maybe if you’re leaving the grounds in for more than one day. Try removing the core after it soaks for 12-24 hours. And just cover it with the lid so the coffee doesn’t continue to brew!

      Hey Cory, How long did you let it sit, my main thing to get a stronger coffee is let it sit longer. Also I’ll swirl around the coffee in the pitcher, sometimes it just needs to mix up to be a strong cup! The only time I ever had an issue with the coffee being weak is if the coffee grounds weren’t completely wet and I didn’t let it sit long enough!

    so if I leave it on the counter for 24 hours, i just remove the coffee and just put it the frigde after that?

    • @TheresaCampbell
      @TheresaCampbell  Před 3 lety

      Yes! If you choose to leave it on the counter then put it in the fridge. It’s good to take out the core and leave the top on. So the coffee grounds don’t keep soaking. I drink mine so fast that it usually doesn’t last longer then 24 hours after I make it. Long story short, yes! Do that!

    • @TheresaCampbell
      @TheresaCampbell  Před 3 lety

      Yes, that will make It even stronger. You can make it more concentrate and always add water if it’s “too strong”
      The Cold brew method makes the brew so smooth that the coffee feels stronger in general. The caffeine content is higher with this method as well!

    • @TheresaCampbell
      @TheresaCampbell  Před rokem +1

      Hi michelle!! So most recipes always call for a course grind… however I will use almost any type of coffee and just know that some of the very fine particles might make it through…. That’s a small risk not a big deal. I just know some people hate that! I just do an extra strain at the bottom of the cup If needed!

    • @TheresaCampbell
      @TheresaCampbell  Před 3 lety

      Not a dumb question at all. I do not use instant coffee. I use a course ground coffee. It makes straining easier and less likely to have a residue left behind!! I don’t believe instant coffee would work as its job is to dissolve vs infuse into the water.

    So... 12 to 24 hours, but 48 is okay too?

    • @TheresaCampbell
      @TheresaCampbell  Před 3 lety +1

      Most would say 24 hours is the high limit for a brew sitting at room temp. Once you let it sit out for too long (at room temp) it’s possible the bitterness of the grounds will start to seep into the cold brew. I didn’t notice this issue with mine. Also if you put yourself coffee in the fridge to brew it does slow down the speed at which it will brew.
      Ideal time also depends on your taste. You really can’t mess it up. You can taste it at different times to find your perfect length! I like to get the MAX out of my coffee grounds so I let it brew to a strong bold coffee, because I can use water or an almond milk to cut it:)

  • @Spanky_McWaffleson

    Am I correctly assuming that cold brew takes more grounds than traditional coffee makers?

    • @TheresaCampbell
      @TheresaCampbell  Před 3 lety +2

      Hello SheepDog78! I find a good ratio to be 1:5, 1 cup coffee 5 cups water. if you want a very strong coffee you can reduce the amount of water down to 1:4 and play around with your preferred taste! I hope this helps, but yes typically you do use more grounds for cold brew vs regular slow drip. The key is to play around and see what you like best! The good news is if you make your cold brew too strong you can always water it down, and then you have a concentrate!
