    Small head on a class 9 with all that power, that would be the only way they could move at that speed, the BIG question is would it be better to run slower with a 12 row head, as with 2 passes you would be doing what it takes them to do 3. At that speed I should think it was all the grain carts could do to keep up with them. Had to be filmed from the air otherwise if you blinked you would miss one going past. - Is this the beginning of a new generation of "high speed" farming, - great video as always.

      @christopherlovelock9104 Před 3 lety +1

      @@AerialAg Interesting. Are JD developing a bigger head so that you can run at that speed then.? Or is it just a case of he is upgrading to the 'standard' 12 row head. If they can get a 12 row head on a combine to run at that speed (cleanly) he will need to 'upgrade' his grain carts as well, - it was all they could do was to keep up with 'production' their.

    • @Ellison89Brett
      @Ellison89Brett Před 3 lety +1

      Christopher Lovelock throughput (bushels/hour) of the machine won’t change if the head changes. That’s assuming he was running the machine near full capacity in the video. Going to a larger head would allow them to run slower ground speed while keeping the machine full.

    • @christopherlovelock9104
      @christopherlovelock9104 Před 3 lety +1

      @@Ellison89Brett Yes I quite agree, - (that's just maths). - What I'm curious about Is what speed they hope to run at with the bigger heads, - if they are hoping to maintain that speed (or very near it) I would think that is going to be a sight to see.!!

      We don’t desiccate corn in the south. Plenty of heat and sunshine to dry down on its own. Corn rarely gets dried with propane / natural gas down here either. Only time it gets run through a drier is if the operation has a bunch of corn acres and wants to get started early. Some cotton farmers will start harvesting high moisture con and run it through a drier in order to have time to defoliate their cotton on time / start picking cotton
