I remember when this first came out, the beat changes freaked a lot of people out. But most musicians were 50/50, either they were like me & LOVED it or they found it interesting but thought it was too different lol.
Fun fact, this was GG's first MV in sneakers. It was a big deal at the time, they'd always danced in heels before.
Soo true! I remember people were so annoyed about the song but personally I liked it! its one of my favorite GG songs (this and Run Devil Run are probably tied with the nostalgic Gee)

In everything Snsd did sex wasn't anywhere. They let their talent and personalities speak for them. This is why they are the Queen. No Boobs or Booty hanging out. Snsd brings talent with class and elegant to everything they do. Their most revealing MV was Party where they wore swinware yet it still wasn't too sexy. They never had anything racy in their MVs and this is why I love them. You are RIGHT Sex is only needed when the product you're trying to sell is not good enough. I've been saying this for years regarding other idols... I won't mention names. SNSD talent is always the highlight of EVERYTHING they do. All members shine as bright as the sun with their beauty and talent. They need no revealing clothing or makeup. This was proven from their DEBUTED. They are the definition of TALENT.
They are legends & this song was iconic 😋 they have visuals but every Sm’s girl groups has the talent to back it up.

SNSD is an amazing group with endless talents and slayed all concepts. You gotta check out Run Devil Run, You Think, Catch Me If You Can and Into The New World.
As much as I personally dislike Gee, I have to concede that it is a crucial part of the entire SNSD experience. The SNSD songs I would add are Genie (Samsung 3D version), Galaxy Supernova, and Visual Dreams (insert IBM jingle here). Or one of their ballads ("All My Love is for You", "Divine", or "Time Machine").
I recommend SNSD's "All Night", "Holiday", "Run Devil Run" ... I could go on. This comes from a married man with kids. ;) I've been a fan of SNSD since 2009 and SNSD is one in a billion.

The only time I wasn't there for SNSD is their debut song. I've never missed even one come back ever since

I saw the title and thought "Ooh, this is gonna be good. Steve's going to lose his mind somewhere around the 3rd or 4 switch up". It took just a little longer than that, but I'm still taking the points. The first time I heard this song I thought it was brilliant. It changes up, constantly, but it maintained enough cohesiveness to make it all work.
I don't know squat about metronomes, but you're probably right about the 140 beats per minute reference. It's also a reference to the 1 minute 40 second mark in the original song which was the first time they sang that chorus. And before anyone comes at me with "Nuh uh. At 1 40 in the video it's completely different", keep in mind that there's a 30 second intro on the MV. In the MV it would be about the 2 10 mark.
I'm with you on this one too. This video had it's sexy moments, but they weren't blatant or over the top. It was a fun and flirty kind of sexy, as opposed to "Let me get mostly naked and wave my ass and crotch at the camera for 3 minutes" so-called sexy.
The pink bedroom scene is not actually part of the song, it's a introduction shared with other videos released from the same album (such as "Dancing Queen")

Yeay! I requested this on twitter a while back, not sure if you guys are gonna like it, because (at least) when this came out, people either hated it so much or loved it so much. I guess they weren't ready for all the music changes in one song. But this song kinda started the trend of it. Big Bang's "Bang Bang Bang" and Twice's "Cheer Up" kinda made people used to those style changes. Now it's everywhere and everybody is musically enlightened 😁
But they still didn't get used to NCT songs tho..

Please check out the new show called Road to Kingdom. It's a show where newer idol groups compete to get on a show called Kingdom which is the sequel to Queendom. Queendom was a show last year with groups like Mamamoo, (G)Idle, and Park Bom where they competed and collabed with each other. Great show if you want to see up and coming groups.

SM Entertainment specializes in the more elegant end of the sexy spectrum. No SME group ever goes the "in-your-face smexxy" route. As goes SNSD, so went f(x) and so goes Red Velvet. Groups like AoA and Dalshabet leaned on sex appeal almost entirely. EXID was a group that I thought was too heavy on it, but I came to like them in spite of that. But my real favorites now include Mamamoo (I see that shirt in the background) and (G)I-dle. My ultimate bias, the group that got me into kpop, remains f(x).
Well if you’re interested in more unique songs I highly recommend Girls Generations juniors f(x). Their style is very different and no title track sounds the same.
For suggestions:
Electric Shock is good, fairly basic though.
Red Light is quite a daring comeback with a very different sound.
Rum Pum Pum Pum is cool, they splash a lot of things into the song.
We've reacted to a few, but not many. Im looking forward to more from them

If you want something different try - Is Who by MINSEO, Katchup by DALSOOOBIN and Tinkerbell by GAIN. Well worth a listen.
