I set up. amud room area if you will.. really it's just a place for shoe storage and a place to dump our things before we enter the house! lol I also tidy up the play room and all around we just hang out together. I feel like a lot of CZcamsrs will say “total disaster clean with me” and their house looks immaculate 🤣 I love how real This channel is.
When we have my son’s friends over, we include clean up as part of our routine before they leave. Usually before we do shoes on I say enthusiastically “ok! Now let’s see how fast we can clean up. I’ll set a timer for 5 minutes and let’s race!” And it helps control at least some of the chaos, and I think it’s important to remind kids they’re responsible for the messes they create too to help grow good habits.
You’re doing an amazing job with all that’s on your plate. You are an amazing woman!
We do that a lot too- but some people leave in a hurry… and some people just don’t care… lol we have a lot of people over so we definitely take breaks through the day and say okay let’s tidy up for ten minutes… then I notice the same people tend to have to use the bathroom during that time 💀😂

My Mother used to hold our friends/guests hostage. No one was leaving until everything was cleaned up. It used to be a family joke. When my Aunts and Uncles were ready to leave they used to tell my cousins to help clean up or they weren't allowed to leave. LOL. After a while it just became automatic. My Mother also used to make us clean up before we could go home from visiting family/relatives. I ended up doing the same thing with my daughter and grandchildren.
We were just taught, from a very young age, as I taught my son, that when you take something out…..you return it to where you got it when you’re finished playing with it or using it.
Great life lesson for kids that makes them great adults.

I'm old enough to remember actually TAPING songs off the radio 📻 and yes, the dj would sometimes start talking at the end of it. But after you waited 2 hours to hear your favorite song, you just didn't care 🤣🤣

It's also a sign of respect from the other kid like if I would have gone and made a mess at a friend's house and didn't clean it up after my mom would say im not allowed to go anymore since I can't respect my friends stuff
When my kids have friends over, they (kids and friends) always help with preparing supper and cleaning. I don't even ask.. and I've gotten calls by other parents wondering how I get their kid to do anything. I think it's because it's such a routine here that they just jump in. I cook every night, and most people eat out anymore. I can't really eat out, my Crohn's disease doesn't like take out. We've actually had kids beg to come over cause our house is homey (their words). And it seems like that's how your house runs too. I love watching your videos.
I’m glad to see the family helping. The way you edit videos makes it seem like you’re doing it all. My kids used to have friends over that absolutely destroyed bedrooms and toys. Drove me nuts. I started treating their friends like my own kids and they got my wrath if they made huge messes. Their parents would be called at a moment’s notice to let them know their child would be delayed in the pick up time until everything was put away in the proper space. I would sit and watch as they cleaned so no sneaking to potty, shoving crap under beds, etc. Funny thing is my kids are still friends with a lot of these kids and still laugh at how strict I was with them. They all still call me mom and have started doing the same with their kids.
You're the epitome of being your authentic self, and I greatly appreciate the fact that you're so REAL in all your family vlogs. You show every side to authentic living and raising a family as you make us smile with your sharp wit and laugh due to your great sense of humor. Hence, why I love you and your channel! Thank you for limiting your content with your children. I absolutely adore that you’re a mom. Your kids are super lucky. I also love that you don’t have screaming kids running around all the time too. I understand kids do that.. and this is their home, but I’m an adult, and I like to watch adults do adult things. I really appreciate your content and I NEVER have to skip forward over kids talking/ fighting/ crying etc. Thank you!!!

You may want to consider having the children who make the mess to at least help in cleaning up the mess especially in their play room. I do enjoy watching the reality of your life through your videos.

I have one of those sink plugs - if you push the pin through the silver part and put the black part on the back cup side to the back of the silver part (so both have the cup side up). The pin will then go down into the hole in the plug and it will keep the water in the basin when you want it. The plug was just in 3 parts - probably after cleaning it cause it does collect gunk in the black part between the bowls…

When the kids had friends over or we had any company with kids there was a rule. If you take it out you need to help clean up before you leave. The kids always knew that and just started to do it before they were told. Really helped us. Even if they didn't do a great job...it was good enough. Hugs and blessings

Bright and early!!
I used to teach PreK and we had a kitchen set. I found bins that fit in the cabinet and all the little parts/pieces would quickly go in the bins. it made the clean up quicker and easier for the kids.
I’ll have to look for some better bins. The wooden crates I have are large and shallow. Meredith is pretty good and cleaning it all up though! 🎉
The level of joy from seeing this. My heart actually leapt. These videos are the joy in my day.

Perhaps one of those 3 level carts to put everything and then place it goes instead of picking out a few items and putting those away. Your energy is incredible. First time seeing your channel.
Kim, you are the greatest. With this big house, take yourself to a salon or spa once a week for self care. The square footage is ginormous and will be a monster to maintain. Clean kitchen, tidy bathrooms, laundry and cooking are daily tasks. The other rooms are cleaned just once a week. Be kind to yourself.
I think Kim needs to hire a cleaning service for once a week cleaning because she is way too busy to clean that mcmansion!!! 🙂
I watch friends be stressed over planning kids birthday parties and decided that birthday one,five,ten,thirteen, sixteen,eighteen, twenty one and the rest we allowed them to pick a restaurant and invite a friend. Less stress,better times. This is with worked for us.

We’ve done this before too. And had a family outing in key if a party. It all depends on what they want slash what we want that year.
I used to work for a cleaning company. I know all company’s are different, but we never cleaned the side of the door inside the garage unless it was specifically stated. Inside the laundry, yes, we would have. But not the outside.

The playroom clean reminds me of how I used to clean the preschool rooms when I was still there. I would literally take the broom and push all the toys to the middle of the floor and assign a child to a toy to find all the parts and put it away 😂

I always use the celery leaves in soups and stews -just freeze them til you are ready to use them. They add great flavour.

My 2.5 year old is probably the equivalent to your Meredith, if you thought you put it somewhere so they can’t get it, they get it when you walk away. He’s my “peeler”, paper off of crayon, stamp pads off of stamps. I had to throw all of mine away too because of him!! 😂

My husband is an electrician and audibly gasped when I sprayed our light switches with cleaner. He told me to spray the cloth with cleaner instead of directly spraying the switches. ⚡⚡⚡ I personally still spray the switch cover plates when he's not around because it's faster and I'm a risk taker 😂

I was a house cleaner for a few months and a lot of the times if something was left dirty it was because of time constraints. If I was hired for 3 hours I would work my tail off for those hours to get as much done as I possibly could. Dusting, vaccuming, mopping and bathrooms were usually the big ticket items I would want to get done for sure. If there is something specific you want done I would tell then in the future.
That’s hard work right there!! My thing is with a completely empty house.. two different cleaning services missed the same stuff. And the thresholds lol and it wasn’t like a little dirty.. it was massively dirty. So weird

With the friend that likes to destroy your playroom I would tell them next time they come over please don’t destroy the playroom or you won’t be able to come over again. Another thing is 30 min before they’re supposed to leave they have to help pick up the toy room! With your new cameras you could probably see who the stamper destroyer is! I’m glad you got some cameras being by all the water makes me nervous with Meredith around. My husband loves to go late night shopping especially during the pandemic!

You can have a large metal plate around the door handle. Easy to clean and disinfect.

Kitchen tip.. try moving plates, cups, silverware closer to the dishwasher. Makes unloading much faster. Love your kitchen and can't wait to watch you cooking up a storm!

All three of those pieces go together on your sink stopper. Look at your other sink stopper, you will see how to put it together. It actually needs to be replaced. Been there, done that. I got tired of putting mine back together.

Kim have you ever had watermelon water? All you do is cut your watermelon in little pieces, put it in the blender and blend it all up and pour in a cup, so good, so delicious, and no need to add anything else !

We have Celiacs in our family which is the only reason I know this, but their hash browns are not technically gluten free because they use a shared fryer with gluten items. Not sure how sensitive your fams allergy is but just a heads up!
In my home, the supermarket I go to is open up to 22:00 and the second one I shop at up to 23:00 and my favorite time to shop is 45 minutes before the closing time. Two reasons, first it's all quiet and nobody's bothering eatch other, there is just some quiet music playing, no advertisements etc, second it's usually the time I drive by the shop on my way home from school and work, and the people there are usually the same,some going to work, some from work, there are some firefighters or police officers buying snacks, and some moms with really small babies, that just shop now, because their schedule is whack, but I love it. It's my favorite time to shop and the produce is on super mega sale right before closing time 🤣

I never picked up toys etc. after the age of three. We had a chart and every night after picking up their stuff they got a star, a treat and $1.00 added to their jar. At the end of the month we went shopping and 50% of the money they earned was to pick out something they wanted and after shopping we went to the bank and they put 50% in their savings account. We have five children. Honestly they loved doing it.
They did it until the age of ten. Still had chores but recieved a allowance for more because they did more. 🤗

Love the progress on the house ! Suggestions...Indoor/Outdoor rug for the mud room and playroom. You can literally hose them off to keep clean. I used them for my kids when they were younger..lifesaver! Congratulations on your new home its beautiful!
Another good option, especially for a playroom if someone’s looking for one, is Ruggables. They’re washable - just toss in the washer and dryer and put them back down on their liner. Target has a new line if washable rugs, but I don’t know anything about how they hold up, etc. I’ve seen the Ruggables in action and they’re great.
