Pace on true australian wickets is a horror show. If the batting team is technically inept, even more so. Combine this with an out an out fast bowler on top of his game and you have a recipe for disaster. The last time this happened in a marquee series is the 2013-14 ashes. That's why Johnson is remembered. Test cricket top performances are always remembered. This is a message the young generation must understand.

Yeah bro. I grew up in the Warne/McGrath era. I was in my mid 20’s for this. I remember seeing a customer at the start of the series and saying, this is going to be a painful series. Then big Mitch single handedly brought England to its knees. It wasn’t the wickets, it was the spells. Every ball he bowled was dangerous. I have never seen a single bowler break a team like Mitch did. He won that series for us with his intensity and aggression, and the fielding was amazing too

The cherry on top of this series was the Barmy Army starting the Gabba test with a series of songs about "wayward Mitchell Johnson" and various sledges about how random he had been in previous series. "Super Mitchell Johnson" was satire on the first day - he came out and smashed a 50 with the bat and then destroyed England with the ball for 5 tests. You got to give a big shout out to the Barmy Army for firing him up. He never forgot & reminded them of it, especially Sydney. For once they were at a loss of voice when he went to them holding up 5-0 with his hands. That was gold!
To their credit, they nearly all stood up and clapped him in acknowledgment.

There was genuine fear of this man in the English rooms. Many have since written about it. He was ending careers as the series progressed. That 148kph delivery to knock over Cook at 1:07 is one of the best deliveries so far this century. Unforgettable series he had. What a weapon.

Australia needs to start making sporting pitches once again. Test cricket in England has become exciting because of conditions favorable to bowlers. Adelaide Oval and MCG have been low and flat for long and WACA has lost its sting. Hopefully, the new stadium in Perth will have more bounce and movement. But in general wickets in Australia need to have juice back in them.
