  • Fly Fishing bass with articulated streamers is featured in this episode of Fly Fish TV with Kelly Galloup. Beaver Lake in Arkansas is the destination and Brad Wiegman is the guide for bass, as a gear guy and fly guy compare techniques. Kelly fishes articulated streamers, Davy Wotton shows fly tying tips for soft hackles, and we have a lesson in fishing streamer flies.

I love this entire episode. The conventional and the fly guy hangin' out, both masters at their craft. Both styles have their place and I love 'em both. Kelly's advice at the end with techniques on how to fish streamers effectively is priceless!

Kelly was using a 6wt St.Croix Streamer rod that he designed, so it is naturally his preference. This rod or a fast action 7 might be the way to go. Gene Fly Fish TV

What weight rod would you recommend for throwing large poppers, you were using a 6wt and seemed to be doing very well. Thanks

It's funny seeing Kelly raise the rod to set the hook only to "break off". You'll have better luck setting the hook with a tug of the line and then add the pressure on bass. These ain't trout my man
