Quick update. We wanted to downsize our dining table because the one we have is too big for our space and we don't use it because it's way too cramped, it just became a dumping ground for stuff. After researching dining tables for a month or so, I ended up buying a beautiful 1960s mid century modern round expandable table off marketplace this week. Not only did I save some money, but I ended up buying something that is much better quality and has a lot of character. I'm very happy! I might show it on tiktok/shorts if anyone is curious ❤

Had a girls weekend in the city and I definitely spent my budget 😅. 2 new mac lips, space cowboy, and a new mascara(my current one is over a year old). Then a few house wear items, some scrunchies and a candle. I also passed one a beautiful peach blush from my lucky bag, that color is not for me!
Worth it! I am going to have my first night off (in almost 4 years) next week and will go out to dinner and see a movie, so if I buy something to celebrate, I won't be too mad haha
My no buy is technically broken over a $20 nail polish that is long discontinued that I had been dying to get my hands on years and years ago, it popped up for sale on ebay, I bought it. And let's just say.... I could've continued living without it. Sigh. Oh well, otherwise my non-essentials spending is still being tracked carefully and my other no-buy categories are holding strong even though I've been tempted.
I'm on a bit of a forced no-buy as we recently found out we have to move out of our apartment. Rent has more than doubled since we last moved so I need every single penny!! Hoping to be able to buy eyeshadow palettes (my weakness) as a treat for a special occasion later in the year 😢
I have been trying to be more mindful. So if there is something I really want to get I don't feel guilty about purchasing it. Right now, I'm waiting for the sephora sale because my skin care is running low. I am also trying to decorate my house so I have been thinking about that.
We bought a new LG fridge, because my sister's warranty company said they last the longest compared to other manufacturers. I enjoy ours, but those Japanese Fridges were very tempting! So many handy compartments ~ Have fun on your fridge purchasing adventure!
I had my fridge repaired a while ago and the repair person (who has been repairing fridges for decades) said fisher paykel are the best from his perspective. So I was going to start looking there ❤️ However we have an LG washer, dryer and microwave. So that’s another brand we’d probably look at if we couldn’t find a d&d one we liked ☺️

Well done! It is surprisingly hard to break shopping habits. I know that when I have some spare time, I really enjoy just browsing the shops.... so you need to completely change the way you view shopping.
My no-buy doesn't work, so I am trying to re-frame it by subbing a lower priced option for a high priced item I "think I need." Example: I love the Chantecaille rosewater mist (my skin loves it too), so I am duping with distilled water and 2 drops of rose hip oil, and filling up my empty Chantecaille spray bottles. When I finish up face scrubs, I will go back to baking soda, so that category I will no longer buy. I have a lot of face moisturizers, but I plan to move to just oils and get away from expensive chemical moisturizers.
How is it working? I think it's a great idea to save money, but I just know that if my home made one doesn't work as well as the one I love, I will probably not use it and just eventually buy the expensive one haha
The homemade rosewater spray is great! I use the Ordinary Rose Hip oil, where did I get this idea? 🤔🤭 Really nobody needs the $80 bottle I was using before. I am choosing things that are easier for me to let go of. I expect that my needs will change again, every decade is differeent. 🩵❤
The bank accounts trick is what I also do. And playing with my collection. It's so satisfying to use my stash, but also, forgetting just how much money I have in the savings account and then checking in in tax season and seeing I can actually afford the taxes and the new car we're buying. And I don't even make a lot of money. In the past...I was just buying too much s**t.
Yeah I completely feel you! I totally ignore our joint savings because it is with a different bank from my personal banking, so it is a good place to stash money that I don't want to spend. The only problem is that all the household stuff comes out of that, so when we need a new fridge or a new dining table, the account rarely grows haha.

Last year we moved (so we had to put down 3 months of rent) and then the car broke down and our dog needed surgery and then the new house needed a dishwasher and I finally had an actual office so I needed the furniture for it. Everytime we reach a certain amount, something happens XD but my savings account though, that's another story..changing my habits last year was immensely reflected in that one. Stopping the binge eating and the buying-it-cause-I-can-afford-it (NOOOT!) doubled the amount I saved. You did good this month, watching your project pan is definitely helping! I work on screens, so it is hard to avoid haha, but my new years resolution was to read more, so I read every night before bed and I generally don't even bother turning the TV on unless I am folding laundry ❤️
You're one of the few that if I were you, I would consider your Mac purchases were strictly channel related. You would have never rushed to buy the discontinued lipsticks if you knew the new formula was good. You're known for the lipsticks, so buying your favorite in a new formula to try was a channel decision. Most people are using magical justification.
