IMPORTANT ADDITION- CENTER THE LATCH PLATE I had a leaking roof cylinder so took a shot at an OEM replacement. I should add that I have the factory CD of the service manuals too. Besides breaking my back leaning into the back pump....Anyway it all went well except that when I went to lock down the front roof one of the catch hooks that pull tight to the windshield was out of place, a big dead end, the two catches were not open the same amount. Lots of brain twisting and poking at things led me to the factory manual, and under the section for replacement of the front latches, it says that when installing the center latch plate (with the cylinder in it) do not fully tighten the 3 plate screws. Then take a beefy 6mm allen wrench to the manual open screw (on the latch center plate) and turn it hard clockwise to move both latch hooks to their max open position. This will shift the center latch plate as it has quite oblong holes, then tighten the plate while cranking the allen. This centers the latch mechanism and makes both latches open all the way. My roof was a dead duck before I centered the latch plate. Hope this helps others.
I think I’m stuck in the same situation. The front latches won’t unlatch, I’ve turned the center screw clockwise as much as I could. Should I try even harder? I loosened the plate so it can move around, but the latches won’t unlock all the way. Any advice? Thanks in advance!!

Thank you for the video
😊 thanks
should the lines be replaced too?
The lines are integrated to the cylinder and only disconnect at the pump, so yes lines must be replaced as well
what is cost $ for this repair ??
3000 maybe ?? $$
Quoted from MB service centre AU$800 just to refill reservoir! Not doing cylinder replacement!!!
does anyone know of anyone making vids like this for the sl500 r230? if so please send me a link.
