    I also discovered what a racket is the tile business.
    my floor wasn't grouted, they simply used the thinset to serve as grout, one enormous time saver and trick-of-the-trade I did discover and wholly respect.
    edit: for spelling

    • @TrpleAgnt2011
      @TrpleAgnt2011 Před rokem

      of course that made removing this "grout" impossible, had to purchase a multi-tool and diamond blades, so...but thinset as grout looks fine.

    Great video!
    Small tip: You can decrease the amount of tile shards during chiseling by covering the tile with wide masking tape beforehand.

    Thank you very much for your tutorial. This was a weekend project. It required a bit more work than I thought, but it was worth it in the end. You helped me out greatly, and I saved quite a bit of money, even though I had to buy many of the tools you mentioned. I know I will use them again someday elsewhere in the house, so I consider that an investment. Thank you so much for your help!

    Came across your video and just noticed it’s 6 years old. I’ve watched a dozen or more videos on how to replace a cracked tile and yours was definitely the best and very helpful. I have a Divosta home that was built 20 years ago in south Florida, West Palm Beach to be exact m. For some reason all of a sudden the tiles started to pop up and after removing the tile some were hollow underneath which caused them to crack when stepped on. Why would this happen? The house is 20 years old and shouldn’t be settling anymore. Some of the thin set was loose and some was attached to the back of the tile. Thanks for the help my friend.

    • @HouseImprovements
      @HouseImprovements  Před rokem

      Homes are always shifting a little in many places, I would suspect however that maybe someone has dropped something in that area and it has started a problem, or if its a wood floor maybe you have some rot that is causing the floor to be weak and flexing ?

    The Back Buttering idea is great. I have an old 1905 house with a slightly sloped kitchen floor. This extra tip will hopefully help keep my tile down. I have a few cracked tile to replace so I'm getting that oscillating tool you showed and thought about getting that Premixed SpectraLock 1 grout .. its $94 but its supposed to perform like Epoxy grout. My grout was coming out and chipping so I'll just redo it all.
