    This video walks you through how to make a dress and shawl for a girl gnome.
    I use a cone as a base, so I start by showing how to cover the cone. This video is dedicated to making a dress, adding ribbon or lace, and making the shawl.
    Hopefully I can make more videos in the future to help with making the legs, hair and hats.

    I think she is adorable. Was looking for a leg video, didn't know if you made one and included it in another video. Haven't had time yet to watch all the videos following this one.

      Thank you Joan. I have yet to make a leg video. Still trying to find a way to make legs that I like and can easily be taught to others.

    When I do a gathering stitch by hand i like to leave a 3 or 4 inch tail before I make my knot at the beginning. It gives me a little something to hold on to and tie at the other end.

    Could you do an old-fashioned nurse? Like when they wore aprons? I can't get the hat right. It's like a cross between a hat and a scarf.

      Sorry to hear that. Trying to keep things simple and I still have done only 5 or 6 girl gnomes so I will keep working on it. A big reason I have not done girl gnomes is because I do not understand womenswear.

    Duane, I so enjoyi following you and watching your tutorials. You are so talented and creative. May I ask question regarding your beards. Instead of purchasing the colored faux fur, do you ever color them yourself with using permanent markers or chalk, etc.? Trying to conserve on expenses.

    • @duanedking8498
      @duanedking8498  Před 2 lety

      Diana yes I do color my beards with pastel chalks. I just recently posted a couple gnomes on wreaths in the Facebook gnome groups. They both had beards that I colored. Thank you.

    I enjoy your videos and how clear you are in your teachings. Which felt brand is your favorite?

    • @duanedking8498
      @duanedking8498  Před 2 lety

      My wife likes to buy me felt from online craft suppliers that she buys from. She gets a larger variety in colors, better quality felts, and more expensive. I am not sure about brand names.
      When I am building simple gnomes or showing others how to create, I will usually just get the 9x12 felt from Hobby Lobby or Joann’s. Most people seem to have these stores more readily available and they look for the best price.

    The lace on the bottom is so cute! Thank you for sharing. Is there a trick to making the pattern for the initial felt cover for a smaller cone? I have a few that are about 3 inches. high.

    • @duanedking8498
      @duanedking8498  Před 2 lety +1

      I have not made anything for a 3 inch cone. I would probably wrap the first one in felt, cut around the cone, take the piece back off the cone, and then play with the measurements.

    • @duanedking8498

      The basic coat pattern is part of the basic gnome patterns. The new coat patterns can still be used if you are adding feet or legs to your gnomes.
