  • The Moot Court module is an elective offered to law students. The blend of theory and practical application by which the module is delivered, equips and trains the students to participate fully in the moot court experience. The final which was held on the 27th July 2017, for the first time in the Port Elizabeth High Court, is a culmination of various assessments.
    The 2 teams with the highest marks qualified. Appearing for the applicant team were Nceba Mafa and Katongo Bwalya and arguing for the respondents were Chante du Toit and Ivan Oosthuizen. The teams presented arguments to an adjudicating panel composed of Judge Eksteen, Advocate Dup de Bruyn, Advocate Wabo Msizi, Prof Avinash Govindjee and Mr Kailash Karsan.
    The winning team, Nceba Mafa and Katongo Bwalya, will be representing Nelson Mandela University at 26th African Human Rights Moot to be hosted by the University of Mauritius in September 2017.

    May God of the holy mount Zion bless you, my learned jurists.
    You even demonstrated better than some of the practising legal practitioners.
    I have been the legal practitioner for almost two decades.
    Keep it up. Excellent.

    How i wish in my University moot court would be taken serious as appearing in court would be a life time for me and some of my fellow students, let alone the matter of being not taken serious as law students with a shaking accreditation, without law professors, and only If I. Knew where I am to go after finishing my LLB degree next year.

    I will have to go with the respondents, the temporary housing has rules to safekeep and insure the security of the occupants. Temporary housing and permanent housing cannot enjoy the same right. The temporary housing is one of necessity. The applicant could have applied for the exemption of the lock-out rule.

      13.42 it is forbidden...no sir there is no cases in law or evidence to suggest this.
      Social services cannot force a parent to give up there childs home or theres this is where courts need to nip it in the bud quickly. Wish you all the best 🤗 look forward to watching another.

    • @James10Ultra
      @James10Ultra Před 2 lety +10

      Yes, I've been a corporate lawyer in south africa for about eleven years now. My subjects in high school were average and I saw no future where I could ever become a lawyer, but I'm gonna tell you this right now, your past doesn't determine your future. I'm moving to America next month to become a judge. Never give up and make sure you want to be a lawyer for the right reasons and that you're 100% interested in pursuing this career. It's no fun saying you want to be a lawyer and finding out you don't like it when it's too late. Hope this helped ( Future counselor) 👍
