I agree about the tempo. She gives this piece a quality that I would call introspective or pensive. I have heard many pianists play too fast to the point they could not play the fastest bars of a piece without dropping notes or tripping over their own fingers. And Tiffany has a lightness with that, which totally fits this sonata IMO. There are a lot of so-called famous pianists, especially the ones that seem unable to afford a bit more money to the cloth of their dresses, that play so fast, that I would ask them, when face to face with them, have you ever had a partner to whom you said "it's not a race?" This is what they do to my brain. Yes, that is opinionated. But, as you imply, Tiffany hits the right note.

Really beautiful light and shade and a splash of colour. Every phrase is pleasure.
Crazy how a reduction in tempo totally changes the character of the piece. It becomes so melodic and charming. It's marked 'Andante Comodo' - a comfortable walking pace. As I get older this is just the pace for me!!!

One place had a Steinway B and a Mason & Hamlin BB sitting together. This piece was all I needed to evaluate the qualities of the pianos I tried. The Steinway was more soloistic, the Mason & Hamlin more orchestral. Fazioli had yet to make a presence in New York, but I am sure this piece would have told me plenty about them as well. The other day I listened to you practicing and knew exactly what you were doing and why. You have a good set of ears. I can tell. Onward and best

Listening to this on ANC Bose headphones gives me a whole new sound. I can hear the pedals moving and the thing that the pedals move :O I can hear the actual sound of the hammers hitting the strings too :O I never knew that there were so many sounds from a piano.

Same here - i have been listening to this since it was uploaded, but with good headphones, i can hear the dampers lift every time she uses the pedal... Love it :3

Yeah, the damper arm moving off the strings is a cool sound that too many engineers try to get rid of! Its a telltale sign of a genuine piano recording, instead of a sample library like you hear in Hollywood

You have wonderful touch--pianists either have it-or they don’t. And you voice each hand individually so that each sings its own song and then you meld them together beautifully. Thank you.

This is exactly why she is one of my top favorite pianists.

The piano itself makes a difference. This is a wonderful instrument.

I was SO happy that they added this to the Grade 7 curriculum in the ABRSM exam for 2021-2022. Thank for making me love this so piece, I can’t wait to learn it!!! This is another one of those that is so YOU in a way. Kinderszenen no 12 is also there and I have to thank you for my love for Schumann and that collection in particular! Thanks Tiffany :)

I had never heard of this piece before you recorded it and it made me keen to learn it as well. I still play it sometimes and it gives me so much joy!
