  • This is the highest-performing, long-distance LED flashlight I own. There are a few other larger throwers out there but I think this one is by far the best value. Should you get one? Find out in my video. Affiliate links below.

    Convoy 3X21D Transcript
General thoughts after a week of usage/size comparison/practicality/interesting things:
    • One of the most powerful throwers you can buy, for a very reasonable price (when compared to other similar flashlights).
    • Comparison with L21B, L8, MR90.
Overall Construction, LED, lens, bezel and reflector
    • Rugged and sturdy construction. I like the added handle - you can detach it. I don't use the handle as the light doesn't get hot enough to warrant using it. The anodizing is slightly glossy and more on the smooth side. There are some shallow cut-outs on the head, not as deep as the ones on the L8. The battery tube is grippy due to a fine knurling pattern.
    • SBT90.2 with 90mm SMO reflector. Glass lens with lightly crenulated bezel.
    • Smooth reflector with AR glass lens.
    • Onboard USB-C Charging with charge indicator. Batteries can only be accessed by unscrewing the top of the tube. There is an additional loose part that sits above the batteries, which allows it to make contact with the head of the flashlight.
    UI - modes
    • Demonstration
    • UI instructions are printed on the box.
Performance - total output, beam profile, longevity, practicality
    • CRI, CCT, Ceiling bounce test
    Considerations
    • 100% does not hold longer than 1-1.5 mins before stepping down. Think the light could have been pushed further. On the plus side, the temperature regulation of this light is excellent - it remained mostly warm during testing. The handle isn't really needed in terms of heat management.
    • This isn't a small light - it's a backpack flashlight. But that goes without saying for a light with close to 2km throw.
    Verdict
If you're looking for the best value, high-performance long-distance flashlight, the 3X21D is an excellent option. The 3X21700 configuration will make sure you'll get sustained performance and won't be worried about running out of juice on a long trip. This light is the longest-throwing LED flashlight in my collection. The price tag also makes it very attractive compared to similar lights out there.

I agree your spot on with the LEP‘s. I have the W 35 and the Thor3 they don’t need much power to push them. The Candela is off the charts. What they have to do better, which will come in time is developing a spill. But when it comes to distance, you can’t beat them. On a 21700 you have over 1 million Candella and can run forever. I remember when you did your show on the.Nextorch T20L. That torch had a beautiful hotspot.

@@DarrenYeoYT good late evening at 2:47 in Australia mate. Sending this to you from New York. Just got finished showing my buddy this video who is a fireman here. I ended up picking up two of these lights and I’m gonna sell him one reluctantly, lol. Today I’m gonna be receiving my Thrunite TN 42 V2 that took me a while to find until a seller put them out there, which there were only nine available. I grabbed one. Darren, I also picked up an amazing light. You really have to look into the Manker MK 35.11 it’s a monster. It’s capable of throwing 2000 m it’s pushing 6000 lm at a whopping 1 million Candella. I just received that I would say a week and a half ago. I picked that up on eBay there was a seller. That light Darren you can get for 258 American dollars and let me tell you something it’s off the charts. It doesn’t throw as far as my K 75, 2.0. but let me tell you what a beautiful torch. Hey by the way my friend from New York to you. Happy new year. Keep on doing the good work your doing a fantastic job🔦💪🔦

@@jlappin6277hey mate, you're on holidays in NY? That's awesome, I've never been before but wanna go. I'll have a look at that Manker light. Has the same SBT90.2 as in this Convoy. I think the size of the reflector is a big factor in the throw specs, especially once the lumen output has been maxed out with 20A or whatever it is. That's why that K75 can throw so far. putting a CSLNM1 in there could probably reach 3km or something 😂 thanks for your support!

@@DarrenYeoYT Always my pleasure brother. The Manker MK 35 -11 has a throw of 2000 m. with a 6000 lm output it holds four 18650 Hydram, Batteries. The head and reflector are absolutely gorgeous and extremely large. I have to say Darren the Nightcore TM 39 that I picked up 2 1/2 months ago with its LED screen is also a work of art. It doesn’t quite push out as far as the Manker, it’s capabilities are right about 1600 m. But the beam on the Nightcore is absolutely stunning. I have that in the short body . Today I just received the Thrunite TN42 V2. My wife thinks I’m crazy, but that’s OK. I’ve always loved flashlights. As they say in New York it is what it is. I love my K 75 2.0. The only thing that’s a pain in the ass is taking out the batteries to recharge them. I almost bought the older model because I found the looks on that to be nicer. They also didn’t change any of the specs on the 2.0, but I figured I might as well go with the new model so I went that route. I also picked up not to bore you lol The new AceBeam W 35 which is a blast but I still love my 90.2 lights a heck of a lot better. Keep up the good work mate you do a great job on your productions and once again happy new year to you. Please check out that Manker MK 35 -11. I picked that one up on eBay. It ran me $255 .💪🔦💪

It looks like there is a dark hole in the middle of the hotspot it looks like a donut i think should use osram w1,w2 leds instead sbt90. 2 so that the hotspot isn't donut shaped and gives a 3time brighter beam than sbt90.2, but 5 times less lumen and 1.7 times more 1816m becomes 2500+m
less power, less heat, higher performance

    • @DarrenYeoYT
      @DarrenYeoYT  Před 9 měsíci +1

That could work as an alternate version of this light. Would have great sustained output as well due to the heatsinking.

Is it compulsory for them to make this alloy flashlight this big to be cylindrical (battery compartment)i am waiting for them to make like eveready dolphin shape.maybe combining both material like pistol composit with alloy.still not willing to pay more for this size segment until they are square at battery storage.😅

But i still bought smaller size(single/series configuration) battery type.its just each new heavyweight flashlight come with same shape.(i own lots of them and kind of stop at some point)only cheap brand /smaller size going to that direction.(maybe they are experimenting new material or just stop there.is it just me thinking weird than everyone else?😢😅
