The sticks he's throwing into the fire symbolise that he's burning down his history. All the hard times he went through and the people who doubted him, he's setting fire to his past. But him putting that small stick into his pocket symbolises that he doesn't wanna completely forget the past, where he came from. Cuz though it was painful, it made him the man he is today

At first I thought this song was decent but after a few months and going through a few different events in life I realise that this song is amazing and means the world to me and when you're down this song can really take you to another world. This 1 year anniversary makes me so emotionnal. Louis was anxious to share this album because it's so honest and vulnerable, showing who he is as an artist and a person. And now he's touring his second world tour in stadiums, put on the 3rd edition of his own festival that he created out of nothing with his own money, became a producer to help younger musiciens to shine, is a mentor to so many, collaborate with his music heroes, launched his own clothing brand, created iconic songs and MV, made a documentary film, changed the life of millions donating and taking action for charities. He survived hardships that would have cut the legs to anyone else, overcame all obstacles, his resilience is more than impressive. Plus he created a community of kind, loving, generous people, the louies are the sweetest fandom i ever witnessed. The world is bigger than him but not to big for him. He is so inspirational and empowering. I feel so full of gratitude. Thank you so much, and well done, Louis. 💙💙💙

You have to go through a lot to be able to write this song.
My opinion about the song, having references being a fan, the interviews Louis gave, the lyrics and the MV, it means accepting the change, your mistakes, and that it's not the same as it was, but at the same time keeping a part of you.
The symbolic part in the video is shown with the branches, he burns them but keep one with him. In the lyrics it seems that he talks about someone who has had control over him, and who now wants to destroy him by saying that he is a liar.

He talks to that person/those people, wondering how they can sleep after everything they did to him.

Letting the song aside that it's a freaking stunning piece of art, i wanna highlight how beautifully done it's the MV, maybe it seems to be not very complex visually in terms of shots and change of clothes or something like that. But just with the resource of Louis throwing wood to the wildfire and the big long shots of the immense nature we can see clearly and metaphorically the meaning of this song, in my opinion. He's burning all those things and voices he used to be afraid and that he had to carry for very long ways/roads. And the fact he just kept the only little piece of wood he actually found near the wildfire without even looking for it could have A LOT of meanings and I love it. Everything is just beautiful, I'm so damn happy and proud of Louis for sharing this song with us, i think it's very meaningful to him and to a lot of us ❤️

as someone who’s afraid of change / growing up i find a lot of comfort in this song. it’s really about how the world is bigger than the change i’m going through and that i don’t have to be afraid of it. a really sweet message put into a wonderful song. the aesthetic is amazing and really represents the song lyrics as well. a great job by louis.
