Heâs really bringing awareness to the humanitarian issues countries are facing around the world. As an American I truly feel more appreciative of my life after watching these. I'll be honest with you they are not happy, they are just content with their condition. I'm from Ethiopia which is no different from Nigeria probably poorer and people are literally battling different battles be it money, health, family etc. I wouldn't say the people I see are happy.

To add to your comments, there's no way I could find this determination in a young man, in my community. Makes you want to go get on an airplane and rescue this fine young man and set him up with the best opportunities.
My mum was born in Northern Nigeria. She and my grandparents had to flee to Southern Nigeria because The Fulaniâs and Hausas were killing a lot of Igboâs. This was in the period leading up to the Biafra War. My grandfather who is ethnically Hausa knew his wife and daughter wasnât safe in the north no longer so he left behind all he knew and set up a new life in Enugu. He lived there until his passing in 92.

My mother moved to the United Kingdom in the mid 80s and met my father there and settled down. I was born in the UK. I was fortunate enough to learn all of this through my grandmother. She told me so many fascinating stories of her life in Nigeria and about my grandfather. Unfortunately I never got to meet him. I was a few months old when he passed away.

@@Da_Champion you should do some research first before concluding. It is dishonest to act like everything is amazing in Nigeria. Many of us in Nigeria donât even know the depth of the suffering of our fellow citizens. Those of us doing well are small compared to those who arenât. Itâs a tough pill to swallow but we have to see these things with our own eyes. Acknowledging the problem is the first step in solving it.
The wealth disparity makes me sad but that is an issue in every country. Please donât stop this series, Nick. Itâs so good. I would love to see some of the areas in the east.

It's actually 512 languages. 2 of which are dead and no longer spoken. 510 are still spoken till date.

i have been to a few country's you have been to, i have lived for a couple of years in Nigeria and yo always go the worst parts of the county's, there are loads of really nice places you seem to ignore, yo might as well go to many western countries and go the ghetto's there because that is what you are doing all the time now in each place you go to.
Thanks, Nick! I have often read about Kano in Nigeria, and have always wanted to see pictures of this place. Kano has an ancient history, and it is one of the earliest places in sub-Saharan Africa that accepted the tenets of Islam.

As a Nigerian, I find it very interesting that the Schoolboy needed translation when English is our official language.
To be honest, it keeps me wondering what the language of instruction is in their school since they can't speak English
My brother, I served in Zamfara in 2008/2009 and I can tell you the situation is really bad. I taught in JSS and I can tell you most of them can't communicate in English. Even most teachers have a narrower lexical spectrum.

government schools In Nigeria Usually is below per when it comes to communication skills and the government doesn't seems to care. even you go to a typical government school in all the 6 geo they don't speak proper English. Especially the ones located In villages/rural areas.

I personally wouldn't travel here unless it was for the most urgent/important of reasons. Media portrayal of Northern Nigeria might be unfair and alarmist, but people within the country are generally scared of the North. And the image in the news is generally so chilling that people don't really think about the North as comprising of a number of states- each with varying levels of safety. It's all just the perilous "North".
If my parents heard I was booking a flight to Northern Nigeria for sightseeing, they would steal my passport somehow.

My father is Nigerian and I've been to Lagos, Iragberi (where he is now the King), and Ibadan. It is so sad that in a country with so much beauty and wealth there is so much suffering. It's so underdeveloped for what it could potentially be. It's still beautiful and the people are some of the kindest, most beautiful, and welcoming I've ever met. I've said for years that Africa should in all actuality be the strongest super power on Earth. Everything you can imagine is there on that continent. Most abundant in wildlife and natural resources. If the countries on the continent could unite, they'd be unstoppable. Nigeria has been at war with itself for so long. The mega rich and the dirt poor. Over two hundred languages in one country , why? Still has the potential to become better and I believe one day it will.

Lovely one. I'm currently in the Northern part as well. Jos Plateau to be precise, the coldest state in Nigeria.
Many cities of the north are safe as well. The issues might be with the smaller villages, and traveling between cities and states where bandits take advantage.

@@whatever1661 Indeed, the east is probably the best location for foreigners, however there is little advertising. Everyone knows lagos for its business and size. Everyone knows the north for (unfortunately) boko haram. But nothing has really put the east on the news. Check out enugu, owerri, umuahia. Look for more cultural events and recreational events. Look for the unique food.

I went to a very small school in the south of the UK. It seemed like lots of wealthy people from unstable/corrupt countries sent/hid their kids there to keep them safe. My best friend was from Nigeria, his elder brother had been assassinated in a kidnapping. They had to pay their security guards bribe money to pay another two tiers of wannabe thieves not to rob them. It sounded terrible, and that was in the mid eighties. But as usual, thanks for bringing the humanity to us with another amazing and interesting video.

What I found interesting is that the tour guide changed from western clothes into traditional islamic attire when moving from the majority-Christian region to the majority-Muslim region, almost as though he felt the need to blend in... While chaperoning one of the only (if not the only) white people there.

This is the best video documentary I've seen. As a Nigerian myself, I can relate with everything in the video. I love how you went to the slums and interacted with people. It shows truly how invested you are in knowing the real situation of things. The fact that you had to travel to different regions of the country made the knowledge all encompassing.
The cinematography was perfect. An absolute beauty! Thank you for depicting Nigeria as it really is.

There are many smaller, more orderly cities in Nigeria like Abuja, Enugu, Owerri, Uyo, Port Harcourt, Calabar etc. Plus thousands of small towns and villages. Nigeria is a huge country, with a population that's 2/3rds that of the United States. What happens in one or two cities cannot define the entire nation.

There are millions of people happy, successful, thriving & living their best lives over there...what you don't see in these videos are the professionals in their nice cars on their way to work... those who work in tech, aviation, finance, fashion, industrial commerce, oil and gas, education, manufacturing, real estate, & construction... Basically millions of successful, career-driven industrial specialists who never seem to make it onto these "videos about Nigeria." as someone who's been to Nigeria and been caught up in traffic several times due to the volume of professional commuters driving to work, i find these videos very one-sided.
@@axamia Very well said. The Nigerian population is 210 million. Of that number, around 70 million are middle class and above. They deserve more attention, as they growing in size by the year. Or rather, by the week.
If the rich are successful and employ millions of locals then good for them they deserve their money and their big homes, they earned it. If they did not earn it, meaning they stole that money then they are crooks and should be prosecuted.

I love Nigeria for its people and I love to watch this. It mirrors the situation very well. In the morning you doubt how you will be able to get through the day and in the evening you feel like celebrating the miracle of the day that made impossible things to happen just like that at their own time.
