  • Multiple Grammy winner Jan Hammer, the legendary composer, record producer and musician, joined me for a new Sound of the Movies interview episode. In his career, which spans more than 50 years, Jan Hammer's music has been deeply rooted in the fundamentals of synthesized sounds, jazz as well as rock. Jan has composed and produced music for many motion pictures, four seasons of "Miami Vice", 20 episodes of "Chancer", and has been involved in countless album productions. His "Miami Vice" theme became a huge international hit. Another one of Jan's most iconic pieces - “Crockett’s Theme" - topped the charts in many European countries. Furthermore, he has collaborated with some of the most influential jazz and rock musicians such as John McLaughlin, Jeff Beck, Mick Jagger, Carlos Santana, and many more. On this episode, we talked in detail about his first solo album "The First Seven Days", working with synthesizers, "Miami Vice", working with Michael Mann, performing live, his two concepts albums "Seasons", and much more. I hope you enjoy our conversation. All my best, Michael Hollands
