This is the best music video ever made and won countless awards ( MTV music awards in1986 for example). Morten Harket is one of the best vocals in the music scene (he set a Guinness world record for holding the longest note in a pop song in their song called Sumner Moved On). The band is one of the best and most successful band's existing and they also set a world record for having sold out the biggest concert (Rock in Rio 1991). I would recommend you to check out their other songs like The Sun Always Shines On TV, Hunting High And Low, Summer Moved On, Stay On these Roads... every a-ha song is a masterpiece and Morten's Voice is out of this world.

Glad you enjoyed this one. The black & white line drawing animation was a technique which I believe is known as 'Rotoscope animation". I think the video won awards for its creative qualities an d overall production, deservedly so in my humble opinion. Thanks both. T - U.K.

When the video was released we were blown away. We had never seen anything like it, and the video helped make the song the big hit it became. Later, it has been played 350 times a day on the radio in the USA, for almost 40 years, which is confirmation that the song stands on its own. A-ha is a fantastic band, which has released 11 studio albums. The singer, Morten Harket, was a real heartthrob, all the girls wished they were the girl in the video. Her name is Bunty Bailey, by the way, and she and Morten met on the set, and were together for a few months.
The drawing artist's name is Michael Patterson. The technique is called rotoscoping. The entire session was filmed on 35 mm, before Patterson drew over the frames, a total of 3,000 drawings are used in the video. Check out the sequel to Take on me, The sun always shines on TV. It's epic!

Thanks for reacting to A-HA and Take On Me they have been my favourite band for 40 years now and have produced the soundtrack to my life. The take on me video is epic it was directed by Steve Barron and two very talented artists were hired to do the animation using a technique called rotescopy . Where animation is incorporated alongside live action. The band come from Oslo, Norway and consist of 3 extremely beautiful men who are also astoundingly talented musicians and songwriters . They write all their own songs and have released 11 studio albums. Each album of songs is different because A-HA are always evolving. The take on me video has 3,000 hand drawings in it and took 6 months to complete. Fun fact the keyboards riff in this song was written by the keyboard player Magne when he was 14 years old. Take care 😘🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 ❤️🇳🇴❤️A-HA FOREVER

classic, it reminds me that I was young and in love too.. and here's something funny and stupid: I once watched a reaction where the guy was furious that there weren't enough "African-Americans" in the video! 😂I almost fell on the ground laughing!

This is one of the best videos of the 1980s, and it went with a very good song, and both of those things have rightly given this song lasting power! The story is specific but general enough to be a love story for many, as you both pointed out! Thank you so much for reacting to this. Another great 80s song/video combination is Tears for Fears, "Head over Heels"! Love your reactions!

The song floped with 308.000 sales. Big gamble for Warner. 2 guys in 1 room sketched this in a few weeks. The technique is called rotoscoping a long ardious job, the results a spectacular if you get it right. Originally pioneered by Walt Disney 30's.
