You CAN sell things on festival days, you just won't get paid for it until the following day. If you have two days worth of harvest in your bins, you are paid for two days worth.

I won in year 1 with a chicken that only had 1 heart & it was sooo easy, ironically the first match was the most nail biting & the last was the quickest & easiest even though the matches are supposed to become more difficult :/ most of it was just incredible luck with my chicken cooperating, but it was also careful timing on my part so the moment QRdSVH (random button pressing is fun xD) has 10 hearts of affection she'll start laying Golden Eggs YAY! :D
