I have Hedy Lamarr in 4 films. Two have been played in these clips on this video. And in 2 of the 4 of the films I have her in she does smoke. Algiers and Dishonored Lady. She doesn't smoke in Ziegfeld Girl and certainly not in Samson and Delilah.
I used to smoke. Gave up the habit 36 years ago. But it was the fashion. At that time it was normal for every other person to light up. I noticed that in some scenes Hedy held the cigarette in the European way, held between the thumb and the first and second fingers, in much the same way as one may hold a lighted match.
